The Wonderful World of Disney: The Garbage Picking Field Goal Kicking Philadelphia Phenomenon (1998)
Garbage is Right
What a stupid stupid movie. Even for kids this is too stupid. He's a garbage man who kicks garbage into his garbage truck and then they put him on an NFL team as the kicker where he becomes a star. That is really the whole movie. Just so stupid.
Cheers (1982)
Absolute Classic
This show is an absolute classic!
All these years later Cheers is still hilarious. The jokes, stories and characters hold up today.
Not many shows can last that long and choose to go out on top. The cast was amazing.
Despite a lot of cast changes the show stayed great, which is very hard for TV shows to do.
I think most people will love this show after the first season which is kind of slow. It dips a bit in the later seasons as well but not much.
Bordertown (2016)
Really bad
Really really really really bad. This is maybe the least funny animated comedy show I have ever seen in my life. I can't believe this actually got made and put on TV.
Our Cartoon President (2018)
Disappointing
I love Stephen Colbert and love to laugh at President Trump and his many gaffes but this show is just plain not funny. The writing is bad and the jokes are terrible. The animation is OK but doesn't stop this show from being really bad and just a waste of time. Unfortunately because this is the first Stephen Colbert disappointment in my books.
Airplane! (1980)
Hilarious Movie
Airplane is a hilarious movie and I guess not just one of the most classic and greatest screwball comedy films but also the one that kick started the whole mini genre of those comedy films. It was a huge hit and is still funny today.
Leslie Neilsen is hilarious in it and there are all kinds of one liners, visual gags and lots and lots of word play. There is also a lot of satire or parody of other movies and shows and culture that was around at that time.
Some of my favourite comedy moments are in this movie, from slapping the woman to calm her down to the automatic pilot and Leslie Neilsen's authority figure.
History Bites (1998)
Edutainment
I liked History Bites, it was a very fun show to watch but it was also educational. I like that it was able to be entertaining while it also informed. OK so it's not like it was teaching us a ton of great new information we couldn't learn on Wikipedia or that we don't already know from schools, but for a family show it is great and kids can get a lot out of this show. Likewise the comedy was not gold but this show was way way more entertaining than most educational history shows would be. The host Rick Green seems like a really nice person and he is likable, a very good host for a show like this. The actors all are fine for the roles they are doing, basically sending up historical figures with impressions. Totally worth seeing if you like history and or family friendly entertainment!
