Trailer Park Boys (2001–2018)

Funny but Super Immature

Trailer Park Boys is of course a Canadian television classic and was a huge breakthrough hit for all those involved. The same characters and show are still kicking around in one form or another all these years later, everyone knows Bubbles and the guys when they see them pop up anywhere.

It's just a bunch of heavily swearing, heavily drinking losers with no jobs who aren't particularly smart (especially Ricky), they grow, do and smoke drugs and eat lots and lots of chips and cheeseburgers and love Rush.

So yes it's stupid and won't make anyone any smarter but what more do you need in just a half hour of entertainment and laughs than a guy named Bubbles getting bottles thrown at him?

Like Community Theater

This show is like watching a community players theater group do sketches every week that they think are funny. The impressions are all just terrible....how many times are we supposed to watch Cathy Jones and Susan Kent dress up like men and still find it funny? The correct answer is zero because it's not funny at all. Shawn Majumder and Mark Critch are just not funny and can't do impressions either. Watching Mark Critch pretend to be Al Pacino was one of the most painful experiences of my TV watching life I felt so extremely embarrassed for him and his family it was unbelievable. Who has the idea that these people should still be on TV after all these years doing the same bad impressions and the same bad jokes?

Stargate (1994)

Dinner Time

Stargate is a great sci fi series. Most sci fi shows in the last couple decades have all been rehashes of stuff that has already come around or just remakes and reboots like all the different Star Trek spinoffs and ripoffs. Stargate was a new idea with a fabulous new way to travel between worlds or maybe even time, it is not clear until the end of the story exactly what was happening and that is a great thing about it, it is not predictable at all. Russell and Spader are great in this movie. It of course spawned spin off series SG-1 and Atlantis and the latest series in the universe which unfortunately ended on a cliffhanger. Hopefully they will revisit this world and story some more with future projects.
