Perry Mason (2020)
It's A Shame
Perry Mason but without any class. The original incarnations were family-friendly. My dad and I had enjoyed watching reruns of the old series together; he was a fan when the episodes were new. I mentioned to him that I'd heard there was a prequel series, so we looked it up on here. The TV-MA rating was the first indication that this would in no way live up. Then I got to the parental advisory: full frontal nudity, aggressive sex, child prostitution.... All interest in watching was dropped by longtime fans.
This could be watchable if only there wasn't such a perverse NEED by Hollywood to turn everything into porn, these days. The plotline SOUNDED good. But the devil's in the details.
Perry Mason (1957)
Great, Classic Detective/Legal Drama
Technically, it could be said that this is a series which episodically depicts the classic feud between Hamilton and Burr. But, no, not that Hamilton and not that Burr. ;-D Legendary impeccable chemistry amongst the primary cast. Such that, when the actor portraying the antagonistic DA is officially fired from the show, the rest of the cast refuse to film another until he's rehired. SO many BIG name actors appeared here before finding their big breaks. Some who were already well-known. Some went on to have children who became well-known. Classic Hollywood television at its finest.
Perry Mason: The Case of the Gambling Lady (1965)
Classic
Enjoyed this both times I saw it. And, both times, I noticed the "directed by" credit and was compelled to research if this is the same director who went on to direct Superman, Goonies and the Lethal Weapon series. Yep. Same Richard Donner.
