Intersect (2020)
Awful
It's one of those movies that's so mysterious that even the writers didn't know what was happening.
This is one of those movies that is weird just to be weird. It takes a detective to find the story here.
So apparently there are time aliens...or maybe they're dimensional aliens...or maybe this whole thing was just a drug induced nightmare....or it might just be a story made up from a childhood trauma. We really don't know since there is no background given. There's nothing to really grasp onto. By the end of the movie I couldn't even remember the names of the characters. There's no one to care about, it's that forgettable.
Harry & Meghan (2022)
It's all about her, of course
She's black! Did everyone get that? Is there anyone who doesn't now know how extra special she is because...she's black! What a brave and stunning person she is..because...she's black! Yep, that's what it's all about...she's black.
She seems to think she shouldn't be expected to learn to behave like a royal. She thinks people should make an exception for her. Why? Because..she's black!
As an American I can tell you that I learned to curtsy as a little girl. I also taught my own daughters proper etiquette. It's not "Americans" that don't know these things, it's just some people. If they don't want so much attention, maybe they should stop making a scene.
I can see why no one likes them. Most people have little patience for immature adults who whine like children whilst airing their dirty laundry in public.
Oh, but it's because ..she's black!
Shangri-La: Near Extinction (2018)
Incomplete
This movie really feels like it was meant to be the pilot for some new series. It has this odd intro spiel that's more common for a series, then it ends in a wind-up as if it's getting ready to start episode 2. But of course there aren't any episodes to follow. I'm guessing this was supposed to be a new series and it never got picked up.
As a standalone movie it's not good. The acting is very forced and wooden. The dialog feels flat and scripted instead of flowing. The special effects are cringe worthy.
It's an interesting idea, but needs work.
Chosen (2022)
Flat
It quickly becomes uninteresting because it's just flat. The characters lack depth and there isn't enough information about the "aliens" to care. It's just ..meh.
Lynching Postcards: 'Token of A Great Day' (2021)
Misrepresentation of facts
They would have you believe people hunted down blacks to kill in public spectacles. But a little research showed discrepancies with this story.
Not every victim was black. Also, how many of these were public executions of criminals and not lynchings at all? Yep, they still did those back then.
For instance:
Rainey Bethea, executed August 14, 1936 at Owensboro, Kentucky, was the last public execution in America. He was publicly hanged for rape on August 14, 1936 in a parking lot in Owensboro, Kentucky (to avoid damage to the courthouse lawn by thousands of people who were expected to attend).
But this "documentary" would have you believe it was all about racism. Lynching was a bad thing. I do believe some were lynched. It shouldn't have happened, and I'm glad it was stopped. Death sentences are for courts to decide, not angry mobs. Racism is also bad, but constantly picking at the scab is only going to make it fester.
That's exactly what this drama does, it picks out only what it thinks can be used to promote a story of racism. No real context provided for the photos, just a narration about lynchings being all about racism against blacks. Smh.
