Best cinematic experience of 2022!
31 December 2022
If the Oscars don't give this film the best picture award, then it's viewership deserve to tank year after year? The first cinematic spectacle that brought audiences of a non Superhero loving demographic back into the theatres again. I'm convinced the momentum this film generated at the theatres amongst a certain demographic helped other movies which were released around the same time too (Elvis, Everything Everywhere All at Once etc). Whereas Avatar is just sinking every other movie in it's run right now, and yet apart from how much money it's making I don't see anyone talking about it. But Maverick was a marvel, created a similar cultural impact the first one did. Anyway the Oscars better give Maverick one major award otherwise will never watch that lame ass Hollyweird cringefest ever again.

Rogue Heroes (2022–2024)
Brilliant so far!

Fingers crossed it stays that way into the second season. An incredibly cool drama filled with British wit and elements of heartfelt poignancy. Loved every bit of the first season of this drama. Finally the BBC have done something right this year, though still not worth the licence fee (but then nothing is as it's a ridiculous tax that should be abolished!). Anyway back to the topic, I love anything Jack O Connell is in, absolutely one the best British actors in his generation. He was brilliant in his last BBC starring drama 'The North Water', though it was not nearly as well written or exciting as this brilliant piece of television. I've always felt that O Connell is incredibly underrated for the type of talent he is. I suspect if he had been a few inches taller he'd might of been a Hollywood star of the Cumberbatch league, esp after his starring roles in that Jolie Directed film and the brilliant Netflix production 'Godless'. O well I'm just glad he's still getting good roles regardless of his 'star' status in Hollywood.

Absolute cringefest

Made it through one episode just about. Pretentious cringy mess. The cast is unattractive with very poor acting skills. They shouldve just made a second season of "Normal People" instead of this garbage.

Game of Thrones (2011–2019)
How the mighty fell!
22 December 2020
Had the potential to be the greatest TV show in the history of mankind and one of the greatest fantasy epics ever, then season 8 happened. My family and I had never been so invested in a drama before so the disappointment of season 8 was palpable. I felt like I had wasted hours of my life watching and discussing Thrones, all to amount to the utter disaster that was the finale season. Hence I give this a jarring 1 star.

Cringy special effects!

Firstly the CGI is just atrocious, secondly the plot tends to drag at times and down right ridiculous at other times.

Beautiful 90s drama!
2 December 2020
They don't make it like this anymore! Yes predictable storytelling maybe (as is most of Catherine Cookson's work), but performed and directed in the most heartwarming, passionate and beautiful ways. From the acting to the dialogues, this piece of drama truly feels like it captured a bygone era. Nothing fancy about the drama's cinematography, it's just pure rustic 90s perfection. Davenport was sublime in this, he was truly beautiful back then. He played a working class lad so well, much different to what he usually plays.

Masterclass of a performance
18 September 2020
I've seen documentaries on this sicko in the past but nothing compares to a great dramatisation of a true story. And David Tennent's performance deserves all the awards. ITV is way ahead of the BBC in these dramas recently.

The Fall (I) (2013–2016)
TV Masterpiece

Top tier TV drama and incredible performances by the two lead actors. Especially Jamie Dornan. It's a shame Dornan hasn't been anything worthwhile since as judging from this performance he's an incredible actor. The last episode gave me chills.

The greatest action/spy film in years
5 September 2018
Bond franchise wishes it could be this good. The action, cinematography, the direction are a masterpiece. Tom Cruise is a true movie star the last of his kind. I still can't believe a 56 year old man is doing all those stunts. Such dedication to his audience is commendable.
