I kinda like this series... there's some good comedic writing. I like the characters and the actors. But the CONSTANT pushing of light, poppy tracks is not only distracting, but truly annoying. Occasional silence is a powerful thing. The Music. Rarely. Breaks.
Also, it's all a stream of amusing liners without a break. Comedy is more effective if a full emotional bandwidth is allowed. One gets fatigued if the joke never ends.
We're talking about grief, trauma, and loss, but not with any balance or depth. I do think it's possible to let people feel these things for more than a nuance- and still be hilarious.
But like the main character, the series doesn't want to "do the work".
Light end of the pool. Ok. Don't think I'll make it through a binge, that's for sure.
