Daniel B. Domingues da Silva is assistant professor of African history at the University of Missouri, Columbia, USA, and consultant for the African Origins Portal (www.african-origins.org). Daniel received his Ph.D. in history in 2011 from Emory University, Atlanta. His research focuses on the history of the slave trade from Angola and it received funding from several institutions, including the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, and the Luso-American Foundation for the Development of Portugal. Daniel's research is available to the public in peer-reviewed journals in English and Portuguese, such as Slavery and Abolition and Revista Afro-Asia.
