No One Lives (2012)
I enjoyed this, and it is definitely one of the better horror movies that I have seen in a while
I have always had a soft spot for horror flicks, however, they were not always my favorite drama as I also enjoy plenty of sci fi, military, action and drama movies. One downside to many horror movies is the relative lack of plot. I do not think that this movie suffers from that at all. The movie itself is somewhat slow at first, however, it quickly picks up. The movie is essentially about a maniacal serial killer that initially gets mistaken for something else, but they soon find out the truth. The slasher scenes were actually pretty decent, however, there were some tech gadgets that I simply was not buying into, though I guess if one was affluent enough, they could buy nice little toys like that.
There definitely is some eye candy in this as well.
Take this for what it is worth.......I personally find most horror movies to actually be pretty bad, however, I have always been drawn to movies about serial killers........however, nothing will every surpass the hannibal lecter pentalogy, at least in my mind.
The Hills Run Red (2009)
It is decent
I was really hoping for more based on the ratings that I saw. The cinematography is decent, as is the acting. However, the movie was relatively slow to pick up. There was nothing spectacular about any of the slasher scenes. The main females are quite attractive and there is some decent nudity involved. However, the plot is fairly weak. I found the plot to be way too unrealistic (even for a slasher flick which is saying a lot.) This movie really could have been a lot more, and it certainly had a decent beginning If you want to see a decent slasher flick that is relatively recent, I would recommend "I spit on your grave," "all the boys love mandy lane" or "cabin in the woods."
Event 15 (2013)
Slightly more entertaining than an infomercial
I rarely comment on the movies......I turned this movie off ten minutes into the movie.......I myself am a veteran, and I am constantly amazed at how many film makers go about making military movies, only to screw up on the simplest things. There are three people (soldiers) in an elevator, and their uniforms are beyond messed up. Two of them have the ranks upside down, and the third probably would as well, however, it is the same right side up or upside down. Tags on their uniform are showing when any soldier would have them tucked in. Unit patches are completely wrong for the location. Not one of those three soldiers has a deployment patch........where the hell have they been for the last decade? However, the woman keeps having flashbacks from wartime and still she does not have a deployment patch. It just blows my mind that they will spend millions on making a movie, but not hire any common soldier as a consultant, that easily would have remedied any of the problems that I mentioned.
