Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story (2023)
Beautiful- it made me cry
Beautifully executed - in the beginning I thought it would be another same superficial but fun series as it's predecessor, Bridgeton. However, this show greatly surpasses the original going in a lot more depth, both of the characters and of the story. Unlike the original, it is not a rom com that you know the predictable ending that will come. Instead the show really takes you for an emotional ride- revealing a very real and human side- and leaving you in tears.
In the beginning, I found the flashes to the future completely unnecessary and a bit annoying, but the final episode managed to magnificently tie them together. There was also another element to it- it foreshadowed that this would not be a simple and they all lived happily ever after story, where King George just had panic attacks and needed Charlotte for all to go away. Instead, it prepares you where even in the happy and hopeful moments you know that there were will difficulties and complications along the way, that it never got easy. While this does may make the show a bit heavier at times, this is rewarding and worth it, as it creates beautiful depth in their relationship and to the story, making it what I would call a true love story- not because they showed up at each other when things were good- not because their love was easy and all consuming, but because they were committed and in love with each other in spite all those things. Honestly touched my heart. The last scene, where he has almost lost his mind and cannot initially recognise her, but does so when they hide under the bed as when they were young was truly impactful!
The Counselor (2013)
I have never seen a worse movie- I want these 2 hours of my life back
I have never seen such an unbelievably bad movie, with no plot, no pace, nothing.
I kept waiting for the movie to start and for the plot to develop as the whole thing felt like an introduction to a movie where something will happen, where the different sideplots would fit together. And guess what?? It never did- there was not even half a moment in the movie that was interesting or entertaining.
The movie can be summarised as follows: a guy for no reason ever explained gets into a drug scheme in a way also not explained as he seems to be a lawyer. Then the girlfriend who we all know is crazy and the brain behind the killing kills everyone in the same sadistic way by slicing their heads off. The movie is unnecessarily gory with no plot. I don't even know what the story was meant to be- don't get involved in cartels?
Little Fires Everywhere (2020)
Great Series- Completely Disappointing and Unoriginal Ending
Honestly, while I enjoyed the series and I thought it offered interesting perspectives on different issues, the ending was beyond underwhelming.
All characters from being somewhat complicated, become very 2 dimensional... And that is not even the only problem with it... Suddenly from being a complex story it becomes a story about the revenge of the more "disadvantaged" characters and how they get their "good" ending. An example of this is the fact that Bebe somehow very easily manages to steal the baby, without being noticed and without any backlash or consequences moral or otherwise - and her actions somehow being presented as a resolution. I almost believe there would be a second issue where everything could be explored further but an ending simple like this seemed rushed and more importantly shallow.
Jeff Dunham's Very Special Christmas Special (2008)
Christmas spirit and laughs
It was really funny and adapted for the holidays- new funny jokes + the fact that he is such an amazing vintriliquoist make this v enjoyable to watch
