Avatar: The Last Airbender (2024)
A brilliant adaptation
I don't understand the low reviews. The live-action only fails on not being the original, which it could not accomplish.
The special effects, the casting, the humor and action, the characters so perfectly coming to life, and the plot so beautiful executed by all involved.
I don't think it could have been much better. There're some episodes that are lower paced and more quirky, but they follow the original and sometime add to it with the visuals and more.
Please, let us fans get the rest of the saga!
The series only improves with each season! I need to see Zuko's redemption, Katara's mastery of the forbidden art, and the little Earth Bender we are still missing from Team Avatar.
Aang!!! We need more Aang, and Sokka, and Suki, and Iroh... even Azula, and her yet to be better met two friends 😃
Los renglones torcidos de Dios (2022)
Last plot twist didn't work for me
Very interesting concept and acting.
The pace is a bit slow in the beginning but the dialogue is intense and you really need to pay attention to the details to understand what's happening, although you never do and that's the story's mindf... and it works until the last plot twist which comes with no explanation no real rhyme or reason, yes, I got it in terms of shocking factor but it needed 5 more minutes to make it feel real after all the 2h30 where it shows something different.
However, as I like a good suspense thriller and being in a loony bin with such weird and fascinating characters, with righteous and caring doctors it was still a good movie and entertaining.
It would be a 7 or 8 if the finale was different.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022)
Wonderful and artful
First - PLEASE IGNORE THE TROLL REVIEWERS
THIS IS A WORK OF ART AND BEAUTY
The cgi couldn't be better, everything feels as real as if it really were, costumes are amazing too. I absolutely love the casting, and so what if male elves don't have long hair, maybe that's something that changed with the eras. But, Galadriel takes the take, she is amazing, I love her portrayal, she's as badass as you could ever imagine by watching the movies. It's one of my fave things so far, just to watch her and Elrond, and see how they are the same and how they've changed two thousand years later in LOTR.
Something must also be said of the Elves past and their original birth place which is only alluded in LOTR, the place they escape to, and in the end go to rest. It's really amazing to be able to see it now and be more connected to that since it's recent past for the elves in this era.
Also, the harfoots which we know from LOTR are the ancestors of the hobbits and you can totally tell. I like the adventurous harfoot girls, and their part of the plot is pretty interesting too. I'm definitely curious about the stranger that fell from the sky.
And, the dwarves OMG, to see the mines of Khazad-dum in all its glory, just wow.
I'm absolutely enthralled by the show, as you can tell, and can't wait to see more.
The level of production is as good as LOTR, and anyone that truly loves the movie saga won't be disappointed.
About the book purists and trolls, forget them, this show deserves to be over 8 or 9. The work of everyone involved and especially the writers that turned a bunch of books and notes into this epic tale is so worthy and makes me even sadder and more disappointed to see it with its current rating.
The Sandman (2022)
Almost perfect
I do not know the source material but besides some slower moments I absolutely loved the imaginary and the amazing characters which were wonderfully casted.
The cgi was pretty impressive, I mean Goldie and Gregory 😍
I was enthralled for all of it and I cannot wait for a new season.
Ms. Marvel (2022)
So cool and entertaining
I'm giving it 10 because of the unfair low rating!
I loved the comics and really enjoyed seeing it play out on the screen.
The casting is so good. Kamala is a star.
I loved all the Pakistani and Arabic influence, history and culture, it's great seeing a super hero that has a different background that the usual white American one.
Can't wait to see more!
We need more!
Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
SW forever
Very summed up, it was a super entertaining, enjoyable and add-on to the SW universe.
I love Obi-Wan and the rise of Darth Vader and it delivered part of the missing story but I did want more, especially of Christensen. Ewan McGregor was amazing as expected.
All in all, very good but I wanted more.
Love & Gelato (2022)
Meh
I haven't read the book, I hope it's not as lame as the movie.
Too cliché, that early scene in the gala so ridiculously and unrealistic.
There're nice bits, the main character is not bad, I don't know her as an actress but she was more than ok, but only the cook romantic interest was comparable.
Yeah, just very Netflix YA rom-com average.
I Want You Back (2022)
Not your usual rom-com
A great script and amazing acting.
Funny and romantic somewhat predictable but still surprising in many ways.
Definitely worth it if you're a fan of the genre, it will exceed expectations.
The Book of Boba Fett (2021)
Why so much hate
I don't understand the very low rates, if you didn't like the direction of the story, the characters, fine, but respect the work, it's still a very good show, and an interesting take on characters, tribes, and a world we knew very little off. At least it would deserve a 5/6 just for Mos Espa and the whole acting and special effects.
But, I loved it. We knew nothing of Boba Fett besides the fact that he was a clone and saw his "father" die, and became a bounty hunter. He was no evil or whatever people are saying, I don't get that, he was not Darth Vader and even he had his redemption arc.
Of course, my favourite episodes had Grogu and the Mandalorian because they're just great and made sense that they would join the fight in Tattoine.
If you love SW for the whole new world and characters and if you want more of Tattoine, the Mandalorian and Grogu, you have to watch it.
Rebecca (2020)
Great adaptation
The setting, the costumes, the acting, the cinematography, all worked so well to bring this story to life.
I can't compare it to the Hitchcock's one as I have not seen it, but I've read the book and found it quite a great adaptation, it really brought the same mysterious aura and dark romance.
It stands very well own one his own if you haven't read the book. My hubby loved it and he was not familiar with the story.
NOS4A2 (2019)
Great protagonist and antagonist
I read the book and really loved it, and although there're many changes it still remains the same. We have a troubled complex protagonist, anti-heroine, and a believable trauma born antagonist.
This is a slow show, because of the depth of the story and characters, but totally worth it.
And, please stop thinking the license plate name has anything to do with the movie nosferatu or vampires. Although there're sharp teeth, cannibalism, and immortal beings.
The Wheel of Time (2021)
Disregard the idiotic bad reviews
I cannot believe anyone can vote 1 or 2 for a show like this (a 6 or 7 would be more legitimate if I don't agree), it drops the score of the amazing product you have just because some people want to throw tantrums.
I've read the books and there were unnecessary changes in the adaptation, still the characters are very faithful, I love the cast, and how well they're portraying the loved characters of TWOT. As the story advanced those changes become less meaningful and the action and the again the characters really start bringing to life the soul of the books and the story we love.
I might have enjoyed it more if I hadn't read the books but still I can't wait to watch the rest.
Ignore the bad reviews and watch this beautiful work of passion.
After We Collided (2020)
Unrealistic and childish
I guess it makes sense they're pretty young. But, geez Tessa is so childish. Hardin is problematic but he lied once it's not like he's cheating on her or anything like that. And, yeah he has issues which he should address before getting together with anyone, but who at 18/19 is doing that?!
If they're toxic to each other it's because they want to fight for their love and that I get, but without trust there's no chance.
Let's see how their story plays out. I need closure so I will watch the remaining movies.
Unrealistic because cmon she gets a job and in 24h she's the best there is.
Anyway. I didn't read the books but as a movie it's passable.
Shadow and Bone (2021)
Wow I don't even care about the books
I love fantasy shows, and it's been a while, basically since the Witcher and The Boyz since I saw something so amazing.
I can't yet say it's GOT worthy, but it's coming closer.
Great cast, and acting. Amazing visuals, and the storyline just begs attention.
I loved the books, but this with the Six of Crows added storyline is just brilliant.
Only 8 episodes is my only complain.
Plus, Ben Barnes as the Darkling, cmon!
A Discovery of Witches (2018)
Very good adaptation
Wow, great adaptation.
The books are amazing, but the show really makes it come to live.
Great interpretations, lush wardrobe, and of course the story, awesome.
I wish all shows were as fantastical and as beautiful.
I could have watch this everyday.
The Old Guard (2020)
Fantasy and so much more
Is what you'll get if you watch it.
Being a fan of fantasy and the immortality myth I found this new take so entertaining and beautiful.
The interpretations are pretty much flawless, the action is pretty great, and the fantasy component a great way to see humanity with different eyes.
One of the best movies on Netflix for sure and the way it ended I'm really hoping they make a sequel.
Doom Patrol (2019)
Not the typical hero show
Weird and quirky, definitely not your typical super heroes, actually they're more the sad, depressed losers who have some power, usually a very odd one.
The acting is great. I love them all.
What We Do in the Shadows (2019)
I've never laughed harder
The funniest wittiest show on TV.
The vampire cliches and the characters are brilliantly done.
I love that we get to see vampires from other franchises too.
There's little more I have to say because there aren't enough brilliant adjectives.
Go watch, this is an amazing LOL show!
Sense8 (2015)
Great concept
Really like the sci-fi part of the story and the humanity of the characters. The sense of empathy, compassion, mixed with the issue of queer and sexual identity is really powerful, however i felt some scenes between the 8 were a bit forced, too many sex scenes and music scenes, and less of the scientific/fantastical part which is why it's not a 9 or 10.
Warrior Nun (2020)
Better than I expected
The story is fun and interesting, although I expected a bit more action, more hellish creatures.
The lead actress is very pretty, and a good actress. I liked her quirkinesses. But, overall they were all pretty good.
I liked the twist at the end and hope we get to see how it will play out on a second season.
Charlie's Angels (2019)
Pretty solid and entertaining
I don't understand all the hate.
It's pretty entertaining, it had a good story and cool characters. I especially like Kristen Stewart's one, very funny and good dialogues, but all of them were pretty great.
The ending was pretty women empowering which was a nice touch.
My hubby and I had a fun time watching it last weekend.
I don't get all this hate seriously. I actually preferred this one to the last ones.
The Two Popes (2019)
Forget religion this is about love and forgiveness
An amazing cast with intense and relevant dialogues. Funny, witty, also sad and poignant.
I'm not a religious person, and I fault the Catholic Church for many wrong doings but this is a movie about people who want what's best even though they're human and not always make the best choices.
Beautiful!
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (2018)
Funny, witty and gory
I don't understand the bad reviews. This is based on a comic not on the 90's show, it's not a dark version of it, but it's own thing.
I love the main actress, and most of the cast is pretty good. The story is funny and dark, and Sabrina is the typical knows little of her powers and her story orphan character, that the more she finds out the more she learns of her importance and her powers.
The dialogues and themes are pretty witty and relevant, and I've been enthralled and seen all episodes so far and can't wait for the new season.
