National Treasure: Edge of History (2022)
Lost Premise Ruined a Good Idea for the sake of an agenda!
It was all there! The Joseph Campbell hero arc! The director and the writers blew it!! There was some deja view plot twists or passes - BUT YOU BLEW IT!!! It was to be a passing of the torch! Instead it was the passing and snuffing out a matchstick. It was bad! VERY VERY BAD! No cohesion with the characters- who cares about sneaker sales? No history. No puns! No I told you so no you you didn't exchanges. It was a waste of air time. It was a waste of money. The director was proud of her work...why? She blew it to kingdom come and sunk it right into the Mississippi River! No sites. Talking but no dialogue.
Andor: Reckoning (2022)
Roller Coaster!!
Wow!! Now this is a Star Wars story!! Andor is The Rebellion - an anti-hero story with the classic beginning of innocence becoming cynical and given redemption to fight for a just belief. Rogue One may have been the end of the Andor Saga but WOW this is a great origin story. I hope Disney learned it's lesson with Andor and the Madelorian stories and the fresh insight to the mythos that began in 1977. Diego Luna is classic! Fiona Shaw as Marva brings out the boy and Stellan Skarsgard brings out the man. There's no Force enduced Jedi mind tricks - some droid sidekick humor but there is action and interaction that the final 3 movies lacked.
Moon Knight: The Goldfish Problem (2022)
Wow!
I thought this live action incarnation (pardon the pun) is great! Oscar Isaac takes on both being Steven and Marc as if truly two separate people. His Steven reminds me of Rami Malek's portrayal of Freddie Mercury mixed with a little Hugh Grant for good measure.
The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
There is some Duality in the theme missing
I just viewed Resurrections. Although it was enjoyable and a bit anxious building, I felt that it was missing the duality theme from the first trilogy. Maybe perhaps the burden of writing was not shared by the missing Wachowski? Yes Lana is a talented visionary and writer - but there was flavoring and seasoning missing. Throw in some Joseph Campbell lessons?? Although I do have to say that using the JJ Abrams reboot formula works for a retooling of a story "using old code" to make new. Still there was a purge - I guess like a modern council of Nicaea.
Singularity (2017)
Skynet in a blender?
If you were to take Terminator, Hunger Games, Darryl Dixon's crossbow, add a dash of Ear Games, and add some Sauron and his magic eye and put in a blender you would end up with this movie - CRAP!
Enola Holmes (2020)
Enola is an Eleven
I didn't expect to be watching this movie with expectations of Sherlock Holmes being in the forefront - he's a secondary charector meant to be the provider of plot movitivation. Millie has matured and I am sure Helen Bonham-Carter must have taken her under her wing for a tad because I can see some similar expressions. I love the breaking the 4th wall expressions. It's a child's movie - not great, not fantastical, but entertaining none the less.
Outmatched (2020)
Atlantic City Geniuses?
Ok
1. Boring!
2. Get some real AC flavor - gambling yeah there's that but there really isn't a thing for funnel cake on the boardwalk.
3. Did I mention boring?
Roswell Mysteries Decoded (2019)
Investigation???
Aliens! Come on! The hostess has a nice filmography resume - but investigator??
The Crossing (2018)
Seen Similar Premise
This show already reminds me of Travelers and Time Tunnel. Steve Zahn is a good choice as the everyman sheriff. I'll see if it keeps up with it's idea.
