Dune: Part Two (2024)
Massive space opera
I had the opportunity to see this film at a pre-premiere and I was pleasantly shocked when the credits had been flying before my eyes for several minutes.
Denis Villeneuve did not give the viewer any transitions and continued the story straight away, and it must be admitted that the second part turned out better than the first. The scale is even more fascinating, the culture and features of the universe began to be revealed, the characters develop and attract attention. The grandeur and epic nature of the buildings, ships and battles are breathtaking. If we compare this film with Star Wars, then we can compare these films only in terms of the scale of the films' impressions and the possible legendarity in the future, but definitely not thematically or genre-wise. Dune is much darker, more serious, and more concerned with developing its characters. Separately, I would like to praise the costume designers and sound designers who created a visual and sound sequence that is truly impressive. There are many details that require a re-watch of the film to appreciate the care and beauty of their work.
We have finally reached a level of technological development in cinema where such complex works as Dune can be turned into a three-hour delight. Huge respect and applause to the entire film team!
Mr. Robot: Hello, Elliot (2019)
Hello Friend. It's very difficult for me to say goodbye to you.
Hello, Friend. It was an incredible way to say goodbye. I cried and did not sleep all night after watching the last episode. You gave me so many incredible emotions over the years and the final episode was the climax of this story.
Over the years, you have helped many people who have mental problems, gave so much hope to those who want to change the world and helped many people just feel alive, which is so difficult in modern society.
The entire show and the last episode is a masterpiece! Incredible acting, excellent directing, camera work, narrative.. I don't know what else to say. It was an amazing trip! Thanks to everyone who made it possible.
Goodbye, friend.
Ghost in the Shell (2017)
About Human and humanity, but with old ideology
The original anime poses very complex and painful questions to the viewer. Questions about what it means to be a Human? Where is the line between the human mind and the artificial intelligence? What is the soul and does it really exist? Its unlikely that all of these questions can be answered unequivocally with a brilliant film or anime. But the original anime leaves a deep impression after viewing. You've been thinking about what you saw for days and nights. Look for answers to questions that can drive our civilization crazy. Is it possible to say the same about the film? Unfortunately no. The film leaves a deep impression. But more with the help of an absolutely stunning visual style and fear for the main character. But not because of global questions that fill all the thoughts after viewing. In the film, there were moments when I wanted to cry. Emotionally the film is able to hook anyone, unless you are, of course, the one who comes to the cinema to look at the explosions and eat popcorn. But the main problem awaits us at the end of the film. After such difficult questions and emotional experiences in the middle of the film, in the end we are disappointed. The main heroine, through pain and suffering, finds answers to her questions and her past. He realizes (like the spectator himself) that she is a human, not a machine. She understands that the police, state, corporations and society wanted to do her robot. They wanted to destroy her humanity, changed her memory, erased her life. They almost could turn it into a silent instrument of achieving their own goals. But she knew the truth! She was ready to sacrifice her life for those she loved (try to search in your life for those who are willing to give your life for you). Motoko realized that she was a human (and we must admit this, since humanity is manifested in actions). But at the end, when she could make a choice, as she finally realized that she was a human.. She continues to work for the government, as the movie says explicitly. A government that will reflect that vile society in which we live, for which human life does not matter. This society and this government stole her life and the lives of others. They branded people with the words "poor", "ugly", "unworthy", and then endowed them with the appropriate characteristics. They tried to do this with Motoko, which was supposed to be an instrument. But she was able to escape from this trap. And instead of asking this world cruel and truthful questions.. She begins to serve this world. The same problems exist in the original anime. But they recede into the background because of the complexity of philosophical questions about man and his boundaries with artificial intelligence. Unfortunately, the film can not boast of something like that. Beautiful picture, beautiful music and acting, a high level of emotional saturation, but a complete defeat, if we talk about the formulation of global and substantive questions.
The Neon Demon (2016)
Unconventional psychological thriller
If you love the movie in which the characters are disclosed in the course of the film, the expected unexpected plot twists and other classic cinematic techniques.. This film is not for you. Refn has created a film in which are only relevant image and music. The plot is not something minor. In this film, there is no plot. Despite the fact that we can easily find the beginning, culmination and finale, it does not matter. We look perfectly made frames. In these ideal frames, violence, beauty and psychological tension are combined. And this combination creates a hypnotic effect that catch our view on what's happening on the screen. And therein lies the beauty of this film.
Blue (1993)
An unusual cinematic experience
This artwork can hardly be called the film in our usual sense of the word. It is a revelation. This is a mystery. Something strange and very sad. The perfect combination of story, music and sounds. This is recognition. It's real art. Art of our imagination combined with the narration of the director. Amazing experience! This film must see everyone, who truly loves cinematography. I read reviews about this film on different sites. Many believe that it is not even a movie. But we must understand that any film - it is only a story, it is speaking, which is expressed in the image. All have long drowned in the language. Words are no longer connected with things. This film perfectly reflects this logic. And I like it!
