Fallout (2024)
Visuals are great, everything else is terrible
I've been seeing a lot of reviews saying that fans of the game wouldn't like it but others would, and I have to completely disagree.
I am not very familiar with the game but thought I'd give it a go. However, the acting is so stereotypically bad that I can't figure out if it's on purpose or not. I don't connect to any of them, they're stiff and robotic, and somehow overacting and under acting at the same time.
One of the characters is off to find her dad, but I can't say I care. There's just no connection between the viewer and the characters. It's very 2 dimensional.
Not sure if it gets better as the season progresses, but I fell asleep watching episode 2 (which is surprising since I never fall asleep watching tv), and took it as a sign to save myself from the rest of the season.
Don't Worry Darling (2022)
Impressed
This movie got so much hate, I was prepared not to like it. But you can't judge a film by it's bad press, so I decided to give it a chance, and I'm glad I did.
The movie is cinematically appealing, the color combinations in every scene are so beautifully executed. The acting was great. And most importantly, the story was original and engaging.
I don't watch trailers because I like there to be mystery in my movies. That said, I can usually figure out where the plot is going and can often predict the twists within the first few mins of a film. While I figured some of it out early on, I was taken by surprise as the movie unravelled.
Over all: Loved it! Worth the watch.
Free Guy (2021)
Thoroughly Entertaining!!
I went into the movie not knowing what it was about (I don't watch trailers because I feel like they ruin the best part of movies). I had no idea what to expect, what I got what a fantastically entertaining movie!! The graphics were great! I actually laughed out loud multiple times, so did everyone else in the theatre. If you're looking to watch a movie and have a good time, this is it. I would recommend watching at the cinema on large screen, it's worth it.
The Upshaws (2021)
A sitcom that's actually funny
I was having a lazy Sunday and had very low expectations of this show. (I couldn't make it through 5 mins of the Jaimie Fox one and was expecting something similar). I somehow finished the whole series in one sitting. I'm sad there are only 10 episodes. The show is funny and that's the most important part. It made me laugh out loud so many times. The characters are funny and believable. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
A Little Italian Vacation (2021)
Super Entertaining
Reminds me of a time when movies were fun to watch! Cute little movie that doesn't take itself too seriously. I loved the humor and the picturesque setting. A great break from our current reality.
WandaVision: Filmed Before a Live Studio Audience (2021)
Put a smile on my face
I can see how people who never watched the old sitcoms they're referencing in this episode wouldn't enjoy it. But I have so many fond memories watching I love Lucy, bewitched, and I dream of Jeanie with my grandpa when I was a kid. The nostalgic factor to got me, I enjoyed every second of this episode. I would have watched a whole season of it.
The Umbrella Academy (2019)
The soundtrack is everything.
The show is okay. The acting is good, and The cinematography is great, but it's just so slow at times. The drama isn't gripping enough, and I found myself getting bored often. However, the soundtrack elevates this show tremendously! Amazing song selection played at the right time. Honestly I was very impressed.
Downsizing (2017)
Wtf did I just watch?!
I have never left a review for a movie before, but the fact that this movie has 5/10 ratings is beyond me.
I am not going to go into details of story lines, character progression, and cinematography.
This is a warning.
Do not watch this movie. It's not "so bad it's funny", it's not "so bad it's good", it's just simply so bad.
Save yourself a few hours of boredom and misery and don't watch this movie.
Apart from being so ridiculously boring, the movie's portrayal of the Vietnamese character is offensive. She's basically a caricature of what a western person thinks is Vietnamese.
I'm only writing this review because I think it would be inhumane to allow someone else to watch this garbage.
