Mad Men (2007)
Too sexist, American and dull
I don't really understand whats all the hype around Mad Men and the nearly 9 IMDb rating is quite frankly silly. The acting is good and the choice of actors is good, except Draper which I find to be the least talented of the bunch. I absolutely love January Jones acting although I hate her character Betty. Mad Men is an accurate depicting of the 60's+ era, has abeautiful soundtrack and thats about it. There is nearly no plot. I could summarize the whole 7 seasons in a few lines. On top of that there is poor character development on the already unlikable characters. If you want to watch a show more boring than actual life then Mad Men is it. I mean these people are the creme de la creme of the 60's US era and they are plain dull. A show about Martha Stewarts cat would be more interesting. Mad Men is by far the most sexist show I ever watched. It basically tells female viewers the only way they can achieve anything in life is to be pretty and find the right man. That or luck. And spare me the argument that it is actually depicting the raw conditions of that era because a)after 7 seasons of watching silly housewives and sexy secretaries the viewer is getting brainwashed and b) if the show intended the opposite, then it should have focused on the women's perspective. The lead female characters are Peggy (Drapers protégé) and Drapers girlfriends.. it can't go any lower than that. Most women will find the show offensive especially the 1st season, awkward and difficult to watch. Also the realistic and extremely detailed depiction of events that took place at that time can be a bit confusing and boring if you're not an American, like the episode on Kennedy's assassination. To sum up Mad Men is a mediocre, sexist and overrated show that leaves you with a feeling of sadness and misery.
Haven (2010)
Kill the love story
Kill the Nathan love story or kill Nathan! Seriously I can't watch him drool all over Audrey. It is insulting pictrung their love as a big end of the world-who cares romance, when she is the ONLY person he can feel. Nathan would be in love with her even if she was a goat. More plot and less wanna be romance please. Kill the Nathan love story or kill Nathan! Seriously I can't watch him drool all over Audrey. Warehouse 13 (2009)
Season 3 finale plot less
I have to start by saying that I have been enjoying this show so far. I am not excited to see what will happen next but it has some good sci-fi elements. And so I get to season 3 finale and there's an artifact that is going to go nuclear in the warehouse with our heroes in it. In the last minute though H.G. comes up with a way to save the other 3 heroes by conjuring some kind of shield around them. Sadly she can't be protected by the shield as the mojo she worked on had to be started from outside the shield. So H.G. dies, warehouse gets fried but our heroes are saved. What?!?!?!?!? Why didn't she used that mojo to shield the artifact (and in that way the nuclear explosion, herself, the warehouse & the heroes?!??!??!? I was actually ready to fall asleep when watching this, but even then (with half a sleeping brain) it seemed to me so STUPID. And imagine that H.G. is supposed to be f@cking brilliant.. hmmm.. This is the worst season finale plot ever. Other than that the show is above mediocre in my opinion and especially if they got rid of both the character of Pit and the actor playing him McClintock who is terrible, really really terrible! Especially in the dramatic scenes where he is laughable. This is quite typical of American series where the supporting characters are very interesting (H.G., Mrs Frederik, Jinxie, the dog)and the lead characters are obnoxious, irritating, and NOT at all well written. As for the people comparing Warehouse 13 to Eureka, I have to say that Eureka was plain boring, I never got past season 2, mainly because the characters (esp the main ones) are deadly boring.
Forbrydelsen (2007)
Fails to deliver in the end
I just finished season 1. I wasn't going to leave a review but after reading some of the comments here I had to. I must have WATCHED ANOTHER SHOW or something. Lets start with the good. The acting was very good and the choice of actors for each part. The plot had you wanting for more without being dull. I really enjoyed the political aspect of the show.I am not so much into cop series so the politics was a bright break. The atmosphere throughout the show is brilliant. Especially when dealing with the Brick-Larsen family, death and the teacher, and especially in the first episodes. I think I haven't seen a series capture death/mourning more convincingly. Bravo for that. I didn't mind the pace which was sometimes slowish. Great cliffhanger too for the 2nd season which by the way I almost didn't watch as I rarely watch the ending titles. Now the disappointing part.. The Ending. There was none. Why was Nana drugged, raped, violated and killed?? For no reason really. And that would have been fine if the show was 10 episodes not 20. You have a quick, we-run-out-of-ideas ending, basically dragging the show through pointless irrelevant hoops just to make it longer. Now if that's how season 2 and 3 are going to roll I would rather watch something else.
Frozen (2013)
Another boring Princess story
More of the same from Disney.. Uninspired princesses, no actual story, not especially funny. It does teach small girls though how to waste their life trying to be pretty and blonde so they can land the prince. Spare yourself and your children, don't watch it. More of the same from Disney.. There Will Be Blood (2007)
Great acting & Poor storyline
I just finished watching this movie and i feel disappointed. For me the 1st part was very interesting. It was a great portrayal of the turn of the century. I loved the music & the powerful acting. However its just that. Nothing more. Film is art & the whole point of making a film is to convey a message. This films is making no point really. You have the main character Daniel who's having psychotic episodes from to time without explanation or background for this kind of behavior.. maybe it was alcohol.. maybe he's just crazy.. who knows..
I would give a 10 to the first part of the film (until the accident) and a 5 to the rest. Its one of those films thats made only to produce powerful acting and to that extend its a success. I call them Oscarish films. So watch the 1st part, get an idea of the beginnings of the oil business & the great acting & save yourself from a wasted hour or so (the remaining film)
