this is the best contraceptive ever

To me, this is the film about overpopulation, and the responsibility to stop making so many kids. Kids are everywhere, in every shot, like vermin. the scenes they all sleep together. The mother pregnant again. The message is very clear, and I agree with it. I do not agree that parents are caricatures. I would not say so. Acting is great. Whether these issues exist, I cannot judge but I think they do. The script is not perfect, true enough. It is not a masterpiece but it is courageous to bring attention to this issue no one addresses.

excellent film

Excellent film. Not for everybody for sure, but I found this film one of the best I have seen in years. The director has lots of courage to take such an enormous risk. The film leaves many questions open and is not easy to forget. The acting is absolutely superb, so natural and the film avoids simplicity. Highly recommend for people who hate sugar coating. This is film is truly tough, psychologically tough. The main actress is just amazing, but all supporting actors are good as well. The true subject of the film, I think, is actually survival and friendship. Female friendship rarely gets analyzed so closely and accurately. In general films focus too much on romance and not enough on friendships, which are just as complex and complicated.

extraordinary

I showed it to students and even they, young American teenagers did not find it slow or boring. I just hate this word applied to films 'slow'. What does it suppose to mean? The film is not long, I did not notice the passage of time. It is a very subtle but unforgettable encounter with Hitler when you actually feel like you met not only him but also his entourage, that you met them personally and, man, what an experience it is! This film avoids all blaming, categorization, any simplification as well because this kind of 'Hitlers' are well known through other films. There is no interest to do the same. This is different, new, original. Not for everyone, yes. Thanks God.

loved it

A wonderful light but not silly film. Terrific acting, especially from Melanie Lynskey. Pankow is incredible there too. Stepehn Park deserves an award there, he knows how to play subtly, delicately, yet funny. Music is great, story sticks together, some jokes stay with you long after, very funny, witty, sweet, smart. Go and see it, you will have a great time! Very Jewish, very clever, impeccable little film made on small budget with a huge professed love for New York city, which I love dearly. Even supporting actors are great, like the actor who plays the bar tender. I think I will never forget his face and his eyes, Jarlath Conroy. Allegra Cohen, the producer, plays in this film and is stunningly beautiful but knows how to be discrete. Fantastic. Thank you, Allegra Cohen!
