Deadly Revenge (2013)
Interesting twists and turns!
Since I'm a sucker for happy endings(!), the first time I saw this movie, I was so glad that it ended well, with Cate and Harrison getting engaged again. They're adorable together.
This was the first movie in which I've seen Mark Hapka, and he's just so cute, so sweet and innocent-looking (I mean this in a good way, as a compliment).
The chemistry between Harrison and Cate was excellent and Donna Mills played her character very well; Evelyn became so creepy! I DVR'd this movie, although I'm not sure if/when I'll watch it again; it's not as compelling as some other Lifetime movies I've recorded and saved.
Christmas with Holly (2012)
A Christmas movie for all seasons!
If I could, I'd give this movie a 10-plus vote! In a word, it's *MAGICAL*.
I bought the DVD and I watch it from time to time *throughout the year*! (most frequently during the winter holiday season).
This is a truly uplifting, *feel good* movie.
I loved and understood how Holly bonded with her Uncle Alex. Growing up, Alex had apparently been picked on and made fun of (presumably because he was an extremely bright science nerd), which made him feel like an outsider. Holly was only 6 when she lost her mother, stopped talking, and in her grief withdrew from those around her and became an outsider.
So, it's not surprising that when Holly begins to speak again and she's asked which of the three Nagel brothers is her "favorite uncle", she looks at each of them carefully, then breaks out into a smile and declares "Uncle Alex" !! I also liked how the initially cantankerous relationships among the three Nagel brothers gradually evolved into kindness, understanding and respect.
Scott, who owns his own construction company and is juggling his job with remodeling his own house, starts out as grouchy and gruff. Alex seems to be a perpetual student, working on a Dissertation in marine biology, funded by academic grants. Mark, the youngest of the three, co-owns the local coffee house in Friday Harbor and is Holly's legal guardian -- but as Cara, Mark's business partner, points out -- Mark is "more than that".
There are so many heart-warming scenes throughout this movie, but one of my favorite moments is a funny one -- it's the scene on the staircase in Scott's house when Alex and Holly are sitting next to each and he turns to Holly and says "don't go in my room" !! The look on Holly's face is priceless!
A Dark Plan (2012)
Better late than never!
Although this movie is from 2012, I didn't discover it until Lifetime re-aired it this year, which is 2015! (I presume it has been shown in previous years as well).
What a great film! I agree with everything mentioned in the positive reviews prior to mine.
This movie has a riveting storyline and superb acting.
However, one thing that confused me was that in a conversation with Shane, Brandon referred to Howie (that actor stole his scenes!) as an "ass", but Brandon turned to Howie for help when he realized that Shane had found out intimate details about his sex life with Erin (sorry, but IMHO, she is the one weak link in this movie; the actress was awful).
Also, later in the movie, Brandon's mother, Caren, tells whoever it is that's investigating Howie having drowned in the bathtub that Howie was one of Brandon's best friends or maybe his best friend (she says something to the effect of *my son and one of his best friends both killed within a short time of each other* or *my son and his best friend ...*).
I guess that Brandon and Howie bonded through being on the wrestling team, so they were close buddies, but overall, Howie's lifestyle was too wild for Brandon's taste.
I'm glad I DVR'd this movie; I've watched it again and again ...! Somehow, it never gets old!
A Walk to Remember (2002)
Wonderful movie!
I love this movie, have watched it a zillion times and will probably watch it a zillion more times! However, I must admit that the movie could have done better in terms of how Landon first develops feelings for Jamie. Although Landon asks Jamie to help him run lines for the spring play, the movie does not show any actual scenes of the two of them TOGETHER at Jamie's house running lines for the play.
The only scenes with Landon running lines for the play are of him ALONE, in his bedroom, studying the script, underlining dialog, writing notes, etc.
So, it falls flat for me when Landon tells Jamie that he misses "spending time" with her because the movie doesn't show him actually running lines with her; it only shows him and Jamie in dress rehearsals for the play with the director and other members of the cast.
I think the movie should have included several scenes with Landon and Jamie running lines together at her house because this would have provided better build-up to Landon telling her that he missed "spending time" with her.
