Diagnosis Murder: The Bela Lugosi Blues (1995)
I disagree with first review.....so here's mine *possible spoiler*
The whole point of the episode is that it was ridiculous and "out there". EVERY SINGLE SERIOUS TV SERIES does this at least once. Why? Because it's fun. Throwing in a vampire to shake things up makes it's more interesting to watch, and reinforces what watchers of Diagnosis Murder tend to forget...not EVERY case will be solved...and I thought it was great. Sure, a little cheesy, a little predictable, but that was the point too. I especially liked the end when Steve shows his dad what forensics recreated in the box that they found at the first murder scene and he thought they were joking...a wooden stake. Hilarious! All in all, if you take this series SO seriously that you can't take an episode like this with a sense of humor, you have no business watching at all, because they all have at least SOME humor in every episode.
Camille (1984)
Not really a review...
...but a comment on the one and only review for this movie...Camille was first done in 1936 with Greta Garbo and Robert Taylor, this is not a first rendition. So to refer to the fact that it was a shame that it "wasn't made in the age of cable, with more developed scripts and better production values." is just plain stupid. It was a t.v. movie, not a theater film as was the original. It was an attempt to revive a classic, not an attempt to be a blockbuster. The amount of effort put forth with the actors and actresses was wonderful given the hand they were dealt. No one can do a perfect justice to a wonderful story. Books don't alway's translate well to screen. And in my opinion, no one can beat the absolutely wonderful chemistry and passion between Garbo and Taylor either. So they made the remake their own, not a copycat picture. Do your research first, comment after.
