She-Ra and the Princesses of Power (2018)
Eh.
It seems in 2021 it is forbidden to write a competent male character.
In my country we have an expression about falling off the other side of the horse. Meaning, in their zeal to compensate, they go into the opposite extreme.
You know something is not right, when if you reverse the genders you get a scandal. Switch the male and female characters in this show and you will get publicly executed for writing and supporting a misogynistic story.
So why is this accepted and praised? Power should not come at the expense of another group of society.
I probably wouldn't care so much, if this wasn't such a big trend in the past few years.
Mayor Grom. Chumnoy Doktor (2021)
Better than expected, but nothing exceptional
I think both the 10 star reviews and the 1-2 ones are way off chart here. The movie is somewhere in the middle.
This is a typical action movie with lots of cliches that have proven to work over time. It is what people call a popcorn movie, just some fun entertainment. For what it is, it is enjoyable. And after watching the latest Hollywood movie in the same style (F9), I have to say, I enjoyed this one more.
Love, Death & Robots (2019)
A disappointing second season
All the stories feel incomplete, even for a short story, generic, uninspired and generally lacking in substance. All in all, nothing unlike the first season. Cannot comprehend why someone did not notice this while the script was being written.
Ni no kuni (2019)
How can a movie be so incredibly rushed?
I feel like this could have been made into a 12 episode anime, so that we can get introduced to the characters, world, story... Instead we have two best friends who in the span of 3 whole minutes join two opposite sides in a battle and try to kill each other. Like what? When did that happen? Why? There is no build up to anything, he just pops into the other world, gets told he has to kill the princess to save his gf, the next second the army is at the castle gates and he is swinging his sword against his best friend. You have to make these things believable!!!
Warrior Nun (2020)
Who gives the green light to spend so much money on such horrendous dialogue?
Cringy, nonsensical dialogue makes this impossible to watch for me. Maybe 14 year old me would have liked it, I don't know... I can even ignore the bad acting, don't mind it that much, but the script is so cliche and embarrassing to listen, I would rather save myself the pain and stop watching.
