Keeping Up with the Joneses (2016)
Good story but the script was cringe worthy om occasion
I really enjoyed this despite its obvious flaws. Poor Zach Galafinakis is lumped with trying to make a really annoying chatacter likeable. He just about manages it despite some terrible bumbling dialogue. Most of the cast do well with the material and it's entertaining enough, if very silly. Some stuff is truly awful, like the wives in the changing room scene. It ticks along quickly enough and was fairly harmless fun.
Harry Hill's Clubnite (2019)
Brilliant from start to finish
From the opening cover songs to the audience member as dancing as a hamster in the finale, this is perfect viewing for late Friday nights. Love that he has new and weird comedy acts on. Most have been brilliant and even the ones I don't get are entertaining in their surrealness. I really hope they make more.
Layer Cake (2004)
Fantastic. Daniel Craig is fab in this very black gangster comedy.
Layer Cake was fantastic. It is serious in places and quite violent on occasion but the lasting impression I had was of a very funny film. Daniel Craig has the ability of a fine actor and the sexiness and charisma of a leading man. The plot is quite complex and requires 100% attention, otherwise you may find yourself a bit lost. There are a lot of recognisable faces in the movie, some well known -Michael Gambon- to the British TV faces -Dexter Fetcher. They are all well cast, but this is Daniel Craig's film
There was a point near the end when I thought it had succumbed to smugness but this was just a set up for the final punchline. All together a very fun film with a nice twisted sense of humour. Very British, but with a quality that could see it do well abroad.
