Stranger Things (2016)
Really poor season 3...
Season 1&2 were truly great. Season 3 is really dumbed down to the level C class unfunny comedy. Characters are unrelatable, unlikable and really annoying. All that's left of unique atmosphere is shallow, hipstery fascination with esthetics of the 80-ies but without the substance. Don't get me wrong - story is still gripping but for me - magic is gone.
The Rain (2018)
Now that's a stupid one there...
Really. I've tried. There are some nice moments and ideas but the screenplay is painfully stupid. I remember writing that kind of stuff when I was 12 or something. On top of it - if I'm watching something that is pure enterntainment, without any depth (trust me, there is none) I like girls to be pretty. What is it? Body Postitvity Teneage Sci-Fi? Well, thank you very much, won't be seeing any more of this one.
Killing Eve (2018)
Derivative.
Sort-of-funny but in a "I've seen it before somewhere" fashion. Progressive left tropes ad nauseam. Everybody is soooo diverse (but of course it never goes any deeper that some accents and few swear words), sexually promiscuous with mandatory touch of mental illness. Once you realize this kind of stuff is everywhere it's impossible to un-see it and really enjoy it again.
Agent Carter (2015)
Would rate it much higher if not for the constant feminist drivel.
Nice noir aesthetics, a general feel-good tone, silly storyline - for me a perfect thing to drift off into a nice nap. Unfortunately there's a constant stream of PC feminist propaganda that I was able to ignore during the first season but it got nauseating in the second one. Dear ladies - strong and competent people DO NOT need constant encouragement, special treatment or victim narratives. If you need this then you are NOT strong and competent. Welcome to the world.
Leijonasydän (2013)
Entertaining but totally unreal.
I find this movie very enjoyable. Character interactions, emotions, scenes, dialogues and so on. The only problem with it is that it doesn't belong in this world. There are no people like this. I've spent most my childhood surrounded by right wing skins (many of them still my best friends). Then I've spent nearly 10 years being an immigrant and surrounded by people of very mixed origins. Again I repeat - people are not like that. What this movie does is it perpetuates harmful stereotypes and prejudice on both sides in the name of universal love and leftie brainwash. Use with caution.
The director is very talented but should rely more on his own life experience when telling stories rather than doing his liberal homework to get praise from his Starbucks friends. I think it would take him to another level.
Banshee (2013)
Meh. It's not a good show, it's just easy to watch.
I had some hopes after the pilot but the substance is just not there. The plot is so silly and improbable that you just have to switch off your imagination otherwise it gets unpleasant. Acting is so - so. Main characters - again, nothing special, male - kinda OK, barely likable rebel with tendency to drama and unnecessary pathos, female - stupid as a brick and light years from really hot, just sort of sporty, no tits type. Other characters - schematic, full of clichés. Fighting scenes are plain ridiculous, period. Sex scenes - too many, too revealing, boring as f..k (really guys, never thought I'll hear myself saying this - if you choose to stick sex everywhere you can make it damn interesting, otherwise people get offended for nothing).
That's really it. It's a TV show equivalent of Harry Potter. Not really a good literature, it's just easy to digest. If you've never been in a fight or never had sex with attractive woman then you might get some kicks out of it, otherwise it sucks. I watch it while doing corrective exercises for my spine. Th plot is so stupid and predictable that I don't feel that I'm missing something anyways if I can't follow every twist of it. If I was looking for a real piece of TV entertainment I would be badly disappointed.
