Lonesome Jim (2005)
I like this movie..It is a real Indie-Type Movie
Casey Affleck is really good in this movie. He is a real natural actor. This is a low budget prize of a movie. (Which is why I love it) It is cast well with a myriad of character actors you will all know. I won't tell you about this movie too much, because you just need to see it. It is funny and low-key. The plot & scenes change frequently, so you don't get bored watching this movie. Set in Indiana, the film reeks of middle-America the uglier towns on the country, the dope weather, a world with low ceilings and very few windows. The kind of world a young slacker or aspiring dude would leave because there are no opportunities. The way out is by bus, which Jim is supposed to take but somehow doesn't take at the film's end, for reason I can't remember. But worth watching it again. Peace
Pandorum (2009)
Hard to follow, Grotesque Scenes as well. Casting a Miss!
Well, I just finished watching the movie. A wonderful idea the writers had, that seemed to go in the wrong direction. It takes almost an hour of this movie to even understand what is going on. And why does Dennis Quaid just sit at the controls through almost the entire movie, instead of joining Ben Foster, looking for him down in the depths of hell it seems like? Anyway, I really loved Ben Foster in this movie. He seemed perfectly cast for this physically challenging role he portrayed. But most of the other characters seem to be miss-cast. Very unorganized movie. Good Special Effects, however. This movie slightly resembles Alien in many scenes, including much of the story-line. I was really excited before I viewed this movie today. However, it was much less than I expected. But thanks to Ben Foster, he seemed to carry much of the movie himself. I am also surprised, that Dennis Quaid, one of my favorite actors, took this role. It did nothing for him. But the money must of been great! Not his fault. Thanks and peace
I Love Your Work (2003)
It was like this movie had no script at all! Movie had no point!
I never got it! How could you even tell he was a movie star? Where was the set he worked on? Besides the trailer! I never got the impact that he was a really big movie star or what it was he did, etc. Did I miss something? But eh, really like RIBISI anyway. So he liked this girl who's boyfriend worked at the video store? Stalking? I could not even tell what was going on.. No good character actors. Why do you need 10 lines to review a movie? This is dumb rule with a movie that shows little.
Peace

One Point O (2004)
Does any one know what cool apartment they used for the movie?
There was some kewl stuff in this movie. Especially the Mid-Rise Apartment in the movie. Really neat. Does anyone know what Country this apartment was in? Was it Romania? Iceland? Was it really a set? It was really neat Art Deco type apartment, seeming it was of the 1920's or 30's. If any one has the inside on my question about this mysterious Mid-Rise, I would really appreciate it. And also take special note to those old European dial phones. Was that current for this Country? I loved the Film Nior & mystery of this movie. I really Liked Jeremy Sisto. Have never heard of him before. And that German actor. Udo Kier? Hope I spelled it right. And I also love anything Lance Henrickson is in.
Love them Indies.

Into the Blue (2005)
It was like this movie had no script at all!
I really could not believe this movie, from beginning to end. It was like they forgot to edit it, and improvised instead of having a script. Also, there was way too much over done action close to the end of the movie, which was ridiculous! I really like Paul Walker, and Josh Brolin..Did not even recognize Josh B. till 3 quarters of the way through the movie. And that Alba girl, seemed more like a little stripper than an actress. You know what I mean. I am glad however, they did send the anti-drug message, without becoming corrupt, or taking the coke for their own use. I really liked Paul Walker in Fast and the Furious! But in this movie, he seemed so spaced out. I guess that's the way is was supposed to be.

Southlander: Diary of a Desperate Musician (2001)
The Best Indie Movie & Music Ever! It's Dope!! AAAA+++++
What a great original movie! Also, hilarious!!And the music is awesome! This movie has so many different moments.Have watched this movie hundreds of times because it reminds me of me and my friends. It is just like reality in my life. It keeps a great pace. Rory Cochrane plays a cool slacker dude looking for his '69 moletron. He and others get hosed by the weirded out LA crowd, looking for the moletron. It is the money, dudes and chicks! So many different music artists. I highly recommend to all that like good alternate music and original independent films. Way to go Steve and Ross who both wrote and directed the film. Ross' music can also be heard throughout the movie. Peace djtodd
Primer (2004)
I watched the movie twice, still don't get it!!
Oh, so this movie was about time-travel? When did they transport from one place to the next? When did they go back in time? What indications were there to tell us things changed? A really fuzzy film. I did love however, that this film was super-indie! I did not understand about buying stocks. There was very little definition in this movie as far as explaining things. The music was pretty cool. Neat that Shane did it on computer. There was no impact to indicate when these cats finally achieved a break-through. Or was there? This film is really hard to understand. This movie was a great idea.....I also wish the film hadn't been totally dubbed. It was cool that the movie was filmed near where my parents live, and I live and am from Dallas too.

The Machinist (2004)
The Best Indie Movie I have seen in Years! AAAA++++++
All I can say is EXCELLENT! This movie is reminiscent of the movies of the late 1940's or early 50's. In true Hitchcock style. Trevor Reznick, played by Christian Bale, plays an American Machinist where the movie is intended to take place in LA. (Which is actually filmed in Spain) A definite Film Noir.Special care was made in making this film as a classically beautiful one. Even though the story line is just the opposite. The music score was deeply haunting & lovely. The cinematography was superb! This movie reminds me deeply of the horror mystery movie "Jacobs Ladder". Things that are real, are really not real and so forth. Yet, they are all real in Trevors mind. This is definitely a psychological thriller! I cannot wait to watch it a few more times. Peace DJ Todd
Flight of the Phoenix (2004)
What a Let Down!! So Politically Correct it Stinks!
I cannot believe what they did to this movie! Nothing like the original! They were too afraid to offend everyone in this liberal type agenda movie. Istead of having Arabs, like they did in the 1966 version, they decided to use "Nomads" (Asians) Everyone is afraid to offend Arabs in movies these days....Even after what happened in 9/11. What is wrong with everyone? Everyone is afraid! You could even tell Elliot was not supposed to be characterized as German, like the first movie was. (Afraid to insult, again!) Even after Germany decided no to support us in the war. I am even half German. The list goes on, and on and on.....The worst thing about this movie was that there were "No Characters" in this movie! No one was distinct in having a certain type of personality that stood out. Everything now has a Hollywood agenda....And I am sick to death of it! The best thing I can say about this movie is that the crash scenes and flying scenes were well done! This movie also laked an interesting turn in the story, at several times in the movie. What happened to this movie? It needs to be completely re-done. At least the creators and directors of the film can feel good about not offending anyone...I thought I was watching a Disney Movie at some points. No wonder the movie only lasted about 3 days at the theater or something like that. David Joshua Todd
