Poor story, bad acting, cliched comedy

Acting: Tabu has done an ok job, rajpal yadav was great as ever.

Karthik aryan was over acting and kiara advani wasn't acting at all.

Story: The main storyline was just predictable, anyone who reads novels or even watches a few movies would have predicted even before intermission, that majula is the one outside.

With a director like Anees Bazmee, it was expected that the tantric would also be shown in bad light only, so it was also very predictable.

Character development- 0.

Bit Cliched but otherwise a fun and light movie to watch

Let's get the cliches out

Education solves all problems and is the golden hammer miracle drug

I personally prefer the "Fat Tonys over Intellectual yet Idiots" (if you read taleb, you know what i mean)

But in general in life, we see hundreds of retarded PhDs, and mediocre crop thinking they are good and have been a big burden on the system.

It also has a elitist tone that is bit ugly, like always it takes the beautiful "CIVIL" servant or the likes to civilize the dirty native ( exaggerate the accents )

Of the general public is shown as dumb voting for any loser, for whatever reasons.

A good looking young fellow who hasn't spoken at all in the movie is suddenly made the CM. (Hope he is no foreign educated scion who is coming of age and has to come down save the poor people and become their saviour)

As with every movie, always politicians are bad, IAS hands are tied up, journalist and judiciary are good. This was the biggest cliche in the movie. I wonder when the movie industry is bold enough to show how corrupt the judiciary and officer grades are in our country.

Also the messaging of free education in a real world policy would be just terrible (after a certain level, especially themselves showing the behaviour of civil servant in the movie)

Also "Education" as only marks, standards and degrees is a very bad idea, briefly touched upon, but doesn't touch on the idea of productivity entrepreneurship and generating skill to get something noble done (scientific literary etc) if money is not an issue, else make skill based education to be able to get things done.

But this is very much expected of any movie that they make and think they need to dumb down issues to such levels.

Otherwise it was fun to watch, the pace if also good.

Power corrupting the CM's wife and their power struggle was a wonderful element. I prefer some foreshadowing and establishing element with backstories, but then it won't have the surprise elements then.

She has done that role well. Abhishek also has done his role quite well.

Teen Devian (1965)

Poor man's fantasy story of the era and guide on how to not make decisions.

Perhaps I don't understand the era, so have given higher rating than I would like to.

3 Beautiful ladies fall in love with our chick magnet dev anand. A great poet who find immense success with a single book. A JK Rowling moment. Great! We have established that, what's the story now?

Essence of story?

You will get visions or dreams, which have not been established in reality(no foreshadowing, no character development to prove that they are that way as depicted in the visions), based on those visions you make a decision.

No you don't date, seek more time to get better understanding, express your insecurities and have meaningful conversations.

1-2 songs basically saved the movie, and perhaps, old school bond movie fantasy of every girl fawing and seducing the hero appeals to many.

Have seen much better Dev Anand movies plots, twists, story etc. This is mediocre at best.

The Royal Treatment (2022)

This could have been rated better if imdb had a category for stories written for or by 12-13 year old girls.

Story was just predictable from the first 5 mins, and it did an excellent job of not having any twist and surprise and going on in a cliched way.

The prince is a ridiculous guy and a loser if it takes a stranger from NY to tell him about his constituency and how the world works. And the rudeness that was presented as blunt honesty was pleasing coming from a young attractive woman, wait till, it starts from everyone around and from his team.

The property manager asking money to fix the damage after almost burning the place down is looting, lead protagonist charging 500$ for a haircut is just smart businesswoman.

Over doing accents, subtle racism, Italians, dancing, feeding - good, southern accent texans bad. Young fit girls good -> old fatter, shorter hair ladies bad.

Americans have to come teach europeans how to chill and party.

Rich neighbourhoods no nightlife, poor neighbourhoods people are partying and dancing all night.

A lot of empty virtue signalling, without getting into the complexity of how the world really operates. And again, if prince had been a bum from the streets of Bronx, the movie obviously won't be charming.

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003)

State of the art, best movie of the time.

If we start to compare this with today's movies, a lot of people won't know what is the big deal.

But this was the predecessor to many great effect and tech in movie industries. It was revolutionary.

Only kids of that era know what it changed and what was considered not possible.

Matrix and Intersteller are some movies that comes to mind that might have changed what people thought about what movies could do.

But this is even more great, because of the great fantasy world tolkien has created if one reads his works, and sets the foundation for Paolini's eragon or RR Martin's Game of Thrones. RR Martin himself confessed how many hours you spend dreaming of the fantasy world created by Tolkien. The movie and especially the wars in this part have captured it so well.
