Mithya (2008)
Bollywood's different movie.
Mithya is a film that showcases the coming of age of Indian cinema. We've had a lot of movies of late that signify a promising future (Dil Chahta Hai, Bheja Fry, Rang De Basanti), and this one carries forward the future of Bollywood. Directed beautifully by Rajat Kapoor (who was also involved with Bheja Fry), this movie is all you want a movie to be- Crisp storyline, brilliant acting, entertaining dialogues, and riveting as a whole. Ranvir Shorey revels in the lead role, very smoothly fitting into the roles of V.K. the actor and Raje the Don, and he gets even better when he's playing both the roles in the same body! He is truly a great actor, and if this is the direction Bollywood chooses to take, then he will be at the helm of it. Vinay Pathak as usual gives a dedicated performance, funny with the tinge of darkness. His buddy (dunno his name) is also fantastic, and his dialogue delivery and accent are hilarious. Neha Dhupia excels at looking hot. Naseeruddin Shah doesn't have much of a role, and in the later stages, his character was overshadowed (in the story itself, and in screen presence too) by Saurabh Shukla. The locales are wonderful. The background score is perfect for the movies. All in all, an excellent experience, and the last line of the movie makes you realise, that its not just a dark comedy but an thorough entertainer as well.
Dosar (2006)
Konkona Sen-Grace she had on camera is just awesome
One more movie from planman production, outstanding movie for all the viewers.Dosar is directed by Rituparno Ghosh and for the first time he came with a movie in Black and White. It is a very bold step taken by director and producer of the movie and for me,this is the right decision taken by them as the story of the movie does not demand colors.Very few director, producer take these kinds of risks and i really appreciate both of them and fully support them. The name of the movie is so touching and force us to watch the movie. Not only this, the lead actress Konkona Sen was superb in the movie, the grace she had on camera is just awesome. All must watch the movie, its really nice.
I Am 24 (2010)
I like narration of the story the most
Great job done by Saurabh Shukla in the movie i m 24.His sense of humor is just amazing which we can easily see in this movie.I usually watch comedy movies and this is one of the best movie i have seen. This is the latest movie of Arindam Chaudhuri's planman production and i really like almost all the movie given by them,in fact Dosar,Bengali movie is my favorite.I have seen this movie because one of my friend suggest me to watch it as he knows how much i am crazy about comedy movies and i am thankful to him to suggest me such a great movie. For me,I m 24 is a movie with simple and different storyline and has also narrated in perfect way and all should go for it.
The Last Lear (2007)
Amitabh Bachchan's movie
The last lear is Amitabh Bachchan's film. The sheer brilliance with which he played the role of Harish Mishra is superb.Added to that the brilliance of director Rituparno Ghosh. Together, both have produced a film for art film lovers that is just too good to be missed. The last lear is the story of Harish,a Shakespearen age stage actor who also is a very big fan of Shakespeare. It is about Harish's life and the people around him.Other than Bachchan ji,Preity Zinta also is a part of the film in a very different role.Arjun Rampal plays the role of a director while Shefali Shah plays Shabnam in the film. All three are superb and I feel this is by far their best performance. Not to talk about Amitabh Bachchan who is simply brilliant in any character that he plays.Indians in fact should be proud that we had the opportunity to see such a great actor. He is simply awesome and words can't just describe his acting. The film should be seen to see Amitabh Bachchan portraying Harish Mishra so beautifully. The last lear is his film.
Rok Sako To Rok Lo (2004)
No better film to make debut than this.
If you are someone in love with movie on youth, the rivalry between young students and the cute love story then this movie fits that exactly. It has everything that a youth would actually want to watch. The movie also the debut movie as director by IIPM Dean Arindam Chaudhuri launched many actors. The story is about the rivalry between school students and how desperate they were to defeat the other. The new actors in the film were all exceptionally good. They got into the skin of the character and performed brilliantly.I am sure the director must have been really happy and satisfied with the kind of support his actors provided him in the film.Be it Yash Pandit or Sunny Deol, all were really good. Apart from acting, music is the other department that really scores high for the film. Most of the songs are catchy and pleasant to listen to.Arindam Chaudhuri chose the right subject to make his debut as a director. It could not have been better than this one.
Do Dooni Chaar (2010)
An Enjoyable watch
"Do Dooni Chaar" is an enjoyable watch. The film benefits considerably from attention to detail, starting with the Duggal home which doesn't appear to be a set, but looks lived in. Little touches, like Mr Duggal wearing keds with his suit at a family wedding, are what separates this film from the ordinary. Aditi Vasudev is a natural. She possesses a certain feminine charm despite her cropped hair and sporty wardrobe and brings raw energy on the screen. Archit Krishna uses his facial expressions to convey fear, disgust, boredom or plain envy. A daunting task to work with veteran Rishi Kapoor in your first film. Yet these two and their clumsy attempts left me with a smile on my face.
