Quality not Quantity

Matt Damon has managed what Vin Diesel and XXX didn't do - to set up a franchise that is just as good as James Bond if not better than it. I am praying to the God of greenlighters that the third book will be made into a film for possibly 2006. In 'The Bourne Identity' Matt Damon was believable as an action star and continues with more of the same in 'The Bourne Supremacy'. Even though Damon is a great action star the film doesn't use action to carry the plot and viewers along, action sequences appear as they are needed and are vital to the story. My favourite part is when Jason Bourne gets to grapple with the 4th Treadstone assassin based in Munich, it it quite a showdown. I loved the first Bourne film and couldn't wait to see this and I wasn't disappointed, everything I liked about the first film continues in the second and hopefully will again in the third. Roll on 2006.

Danger Zone (1996)
Billy Zane = Action Hero
21 July 2004
Billy Zane delivers a thrilling, entertaining and well watchable action movie. If this film had a bigger budget and wasn't a TV movie it would be up in the biggest earners of all time. Even though it is a TV movie it is quality to the last frame. It has a believable plot, lead actor (Zane) and supporting actors especially Robert Downey Jr. Without giving too much away, during the film there are some killer punch-ups. The best grapple is on top of a train going along a mountain with there being no doubt that Billy Zane isn't involved - Vic Armstrong eat your heart out! Watch this if you want to see some well choreographed fight scenes and realistic shoot outs. Billy Zane needs to do more action films with all of the aforementioned selling points to keep his Action Hero title

Walking Tall (2004)
10/10
Continuing the trend.
16 July 2004
The Rock delivers a pulse pounding, cranium cracking, wood wielding tribute to Sheriff Buford Pusser. It is a well thought out remake/re-imagining of the original Walking Tall like The Italian Job (2003) remake. I love action films and this definitely enters my top five at the same level as Welcome to the Jungle (The Rundown). The Rock is a very competent actor and has great chemistry with Johnny Knoxville when they share screen time. If you are a Knoxville fan there is a very amusing sequence involving some bad guys and a shotgun. The film also has great music throughout, my personal favorite is the opening song. If The Rock continues to make movies like this then his fans will be very very happy. See this film if you like your action fast, realistic and frequent.
