Hawaii Five-0: O ka Pili'Ohana ka 'Oi (2014)
Worst episode of a terrible season.
Used to be a good show but this season has been truly awful. This episode showcases the lazy clichéd writing by numbers mentality this show has come to have. Rather than trying to think of original story lines, the writers decided to knock off early and went to the filing cabinet of done to death story lines and just substituted a few names. Resurrecting the Wo Fat or however you spell it story line is an indication of how desperate they are. A pathetic contrived and unbelievable escape plot, and again the absent Doris assisting for a reason that has still not been properly explained for at least two series. Honestly past the point of caring now. This used to be a good action light entertainment program, some good chases, some good mysteries. Yes you had to suspend reality a bit but now it's gone too far, and it's just too difficult. Get back to good story lines, drop the clichés, go easy on the cheese. At the moment I cannot see myself watching next season .
Hawaii Five-0: Hau'oli La Ho'omoaika'i (2013)
Cheesy awful rubbish
I normally really like this program, but this episode was truly awful.
It appears the meeting in the writing room went something like this. 'Alright its Thanksgiving weekend - we've got 30 mins to write an episode. Lets put something patriotic in - President - check. Sentimental - dying relative. Check. We better mention Kono, she hasn't been mentioned for 2 episodes. I cant really remember where we were going with it, can we tie that all together?
nah don't worry about that. I'll give it to my 8 year old and they can write it. Brilliant, lets go home!'.
The 'crime' that needed to be investigated could have been much better executed - instead it was lazily done. The Secret Service looked inept, the reason the President was coming to Hawaii was pathetic and appeared to have been thrown in at the last minute as an after thought. They never explained properly the reason the actual target was the target and for a world renowned assassin - he was a rubbish shot, didn't seem to understand CCTV, and was a weak half baked character. The sentimental aspect of the episode was taken from the cliché book - A-Z - why kill off a character we've never met and we don't care about. The song at the end was unnecessary - all in all - this has got to be the worst episode I've seen. The writers should be fined an episodes wages for this, if this is the way the program is going to go then it should be cancelled. The Kono story line has been lost and they are trying to find a way back and failing. The problem may come from having too many episodes - the story arcs are not sharp enough then. Perhaps this is a perfect example of quantity over quality.
Surviving Christmas (2004)
Worst and most contrived unChristmassy film ever
This film is truly awful, every cliché piled on and done to death. Some films make you feel excited about Christmas, this film makes people feel awful. If you don't have a big family Christmas then you must be an awful person. If you don't have family for whatever reason then you have no worth, and don't deserve any respect according to this film. It makes people feel lower, more depressed and I wouldn't be surprised if it contributes to the suicide rate every year! The acting is atrocious, the storyline predictable, contrived and tripe. Its a shame that fine actors have this on the regime. I can only believe they were desperate for money or something to do. It's truly an offensive film, and should never be aired again. Avoid unless you want to feel miserable, and worth less if you don't have a big family Christmas. No funny moments. You genuinely want to punch Ben Affleck in the face, he is such an annoying imbecile. Too moralistic.
Silent Hill (2006)
Awful and unlikeable characters
I have never heard of the game so came to the film with no expectations or prejudice. The story line is atrocious, no cohesion, makes no sense and gets truly lost. The heroine is an idiot. Screams all the damn time, and then randomly runs. A lot. To who knows where. Not sure what Sean Bean's part was supposed to be . He adds nothing to the film and seems to be a token male character - completely pointless. There's no explanation of the monsters, several different types - why?!!! No scary bits. You end up shouting at the characters because they are sooooo stupid. Do you care what happens to them? Nope. Do yourself a favour and avoid. Totally worthless.
Truth or Dare (2012)
Alright but....
Spoiler alert.
Good film. All the characters are deeply unlikeable, and actually you are not that fussed about them dying. You're actually on the side of the psycho for a while. One thing that has been mentioned is why someone looks up the police emergency on the net. I think it's actually supposed to be that there is no phone line only internet so she is trying to alert police that way. The part that unsettles and what I object to, is why does the rapist not get her just desserts? She basically rapes two blokes or rather forces one to rape the other.... Would have been happier if it was long suffering boyfriend only that survived. The storyline is quite good, would have benefited from better more engaging actors. Good to pass the time but don't base your night around it.
Revolution (2012)
Really wanted to like this
I really tried hard to like this and it started off really well. But like most programmes these days the writers decided to over complicate things and use every cliché in the book. There is only so many times you can almost catch up with the baddie before a random set of circumstances rip you apart again. The writers need to come up with a new cliff hanger rather than using the same one every episode. The back story makes no sense, there's no consistency and when they paint themselves in to a corner, throw in an event which no matter how implausible, gets you out of it. Not everyone wants to take over the world, so please writers stop trying to pretend they do.
Cannot bear to watch this anymore.
Playback (2012)
Very poor.
First - with regards to the previous reviews. Lets try and get one thing straight. The Christian is Christian Slater - not Bale. Mel Gibson was in PAYBACK not this film. Robert Downey Junior was not in this film. Some of the reviews seem to have their films mixed up. JJ Abrams had nothing to do with this film. If you are going to leave a review at least get the film right, the actors right and the story line right! There is no gay janitor!
Now - for this film. Well, it's slow, only one true jump moment, very little killing, poor storyline, weird random storyline involving Christian Slater and generally bad acting. I've seen scarier adverts than this film. There are so many scenes which added nothing to the storyline and were pointless. The camera action was lazy and thoughtless. Character development was non existent, no relationship or connection was created. You just don't care about the characters. Overall don't waste your time - there really is nothing going for this!
