EXCELLENT FAMILY ENTERTAINMENT
9 November 2018
MOVIE REVIEW: "THE PRAYER BOX" (A+) I don't very often review movies that I see either on DVD or on streaming services, but this movie deserves a wide viewership. This movie is available on DVD and Amazon and Netflix. It is touching and just an out and out beautiful family movie. This movie rests completely on the shoulders of young actor GRANT DAVIDSON in his first movie lead role. He does an incredible job in conveying how beautiful life can be, despite setbacks, if you care about other people. The screenplay, direction, and editing are excellent. Even though this movie runs about 105 minutes I wish it lasted twice as long. Watch for Grant since he is a very talented young man and is destined to be a star. Down the line, come back to this review when he is a star and see that I predicted it here. I cannot see any teen do a better job in this part than he did. It was pure perfection. See it if you can and even if you can't. You will thank me for it.

Excellent New Hulu Series

I saw all 7 episodes of "THERE'S JOHNNY" yesterday. It was original excellent writing, direction and especially Ian Nelson and Tony Danza and the rest of the cast. The only problem is 7 episodes are not enough for me. Please give it a second season.

Excellent in every way

First I cannot believe that this incredible movie was made for just under $15,000. It was highly professional with excellent direction, excellent screenplay with an intense storyline and subject matter of teen bullying and suicide. The dialogue was very smart. The score was first rate. As was the cinematography. I'm leaving the best for last, the two lead actors: MAX MacKENZIE and KATERINA EICHENBERGER made their characters very likable, sympathetic and interesting. I was rooting for both of them. So much so that it was good that I saw it at home, since I tended to address the screen with my feelings during many scenes. The ups and downs of this boy's life took an emotional toll on me. It really took me to heart. This movie really deserves to be seen by a wide audience.

Excellent in every way

This movie really deserved some kind of theatrical release. It was so well written, directed and acted, that it is shame that it went direct to home viewing only. After the screenplay, to me casting is the most important part of a movie. If you have the wrong people in the parts it could really ruin the film. But here everyone was perfect for their parts. What I really liked was "real" teenagers playing teenagers. Not 20 or 30 somethings you find in so many movie and TV shows. I loved the soundtrack. My favorite two performances were William Leon's and Liv Southard's. They had really great chemistry together. I really liked Mark Marchillo (also the director and screenwriter) as the uncle. He really dances well too. I also loved Aaron Landon as the comic relief of the movie. A movie that gets very serious at times. It was a really good touch in writing that part and again great casting.
