Next Goal Wins (2023)

Good Director, Good Storyline, Bad Movie

We got to about the 20 minute mark when in typical Hollywood fashion they had to introduce a trans as one of the heroes of the film.

Sad they have to makeup that character as the troubled player.

Great supporting players make the movie watchable.

Funny at much of it only to be ruined by the unbelievable.

Even Fassbender's hardest work couldn't save the poor decision on characters.

Making fun of the religious beliefs of the island inhabitants was a poor writing choice. Of course if they had been Muslim the film would have never made the joke.

Totally understand why the film did so poorly and why the other reviews have it down near 5.

HIRE A FIREARMS ADVISOR!

In the first episode at the 11:30 mark a Army Vet with 13 kills pulls out a pistol from a cabinet he has never seen before and points it at the legs of his new intelligence partner. The partner in turn explains one of the main features of the pistol, never asking him to point it in a different direction.

This is a clear indication either no one took the time to hire a firearm advisor for a series that relies heavily on firearms, or they hired one that lacks basic understanding of firearms safety.

I am leaving out the opening scene where a different couple with a history makes some bad decisions about defending a home even though they speak as if they have been planning for an attack.

Sad. Producers and directors should do better.

A Knock Off of Other Good Movies

From the previews to the first 20 minutes it can be seen the writer(s) just took ideas and scenes from other movies/series.

You will see Agatha Christie, some of The Queen's Gambit, and a splash of Raiders. And that is just in the first episode.

They also added in some lesbian sex with bare chests (of course they had to get the husbands to watch with their wives) and some "straight sex" afterward bed talk.

All of the above is a great way to ruin a series, but then they decide to throw in some massive plot holes just to earn the 3 stars.

Going to watch episode 2 just to see if we get some other good movies show up.

How to do a better job on this production?

First, hire a military consultant. That would get by the majority of the issues.

Next, hiring an acting coach. Not a really expensive one. Maybe a director from the Little Theater of east New Jersey.

Taking these two steps would great enhance the production value of this movie.

Then the next step would be to follow just a little of the historical facts associated with this battle.

This film is almost a disservice to the memory of the heroes that fought in this battle.

Dialogue is awful, could could have used a little polishing.

If nothing else I learned to never watch a film directed by this guy.

Stick To What You Know

Within a few minutes I could only think John Travolta listening to L. Ron Hubbard about Battlefield Earth. Here we have the same issue. Someone outside of the industry and everyone in the industry telling them they are a genius. Everyone that knows better telling them yes to everything they say. I would rate this film such a little better than Battlefield Earth, but not much better. The level of actors in this film is all that got it the number of starts it got.

I am sure there is now a support group John, Julia and Ethan have established to talk through their feels about being in such a disaster. Hopefully the lesser know actors can work their way out of those hole the producers put them in.

Fargo (2014–2024)

Solely Disappointed

So many inconsistencies it is hard to watch. Ridiculous occurrences and even a supernatural element.

A man from the 1500s comes back as a paid hit man.

No elevator in a government building.

A deputy from another state allowed into a state evidence vault.

A State Trooper allowing a deputy sheriff from another state take evidence.

A week waiting period on firearms purchase....in a midwestern state.(?!?!) Of course they had to work in a trans little girl.

White supremacist come in as the bad guys. They try and camouflage them as January 6th type pro Trump/Proud Boy types, but to obvious what they are saying.

Of course only ONE minority in the main cast. Hollywood isn't going to be diverse. They will only pretend.

Lioness (2023– )

After the JR Disappointed, THIS Came Through

Well written, great acting and NO wholeness.

True to life and obviously done with real military advisors.

This show is another one that I am sure brought more of the Hollywood "actors" into reality. Courage Under Fire with Denzel, Lone Survivor with Mark Wahlberg, and American Sniper with Bradley Cooper. All met and admired the real American heroes.....the military. Once they did their films they met the real Americans. They changed. This movie is so true to life, because of Taylor, it will show all the viewers just what our heroes do everyday to keep us safe.

We'll worth the time to watch. I'm watching it a second time.

Jack Ryan (2018–2023)

Season Four

Too many plot holes. Hard to watch. Trying hard to like it based on the first three seasons.

Currently on episode 5. How did Mike November know where to go to find Cathy? How did he know which car of the three she was in? How did he know she would save herself and escape? How did Cathy know it was a good guy in the helicopter? How did the bad guy make a 1000+ yard shot with a 5.56 rifle?

In earlier episodes why would the acting director of the CIA discuss intelligence info on the phone with a civilian within earshot? After a main character gets shot they casually walk inside and forget about the shooter?

Hard to watch. Sad ending to a great franchise?

Man from Reno (2014)

Crazy

Strange casting that goes from brilliant to poor choices. Failures in location and basic background work is distracting. No new ideas in the mystery story telling realm. A swing and a miss at the chance for a great ending. Sad use of the few good actors in the film and way overuse of the miscasted talent.

Waiting until the end will only leave you more dissatisfied.

Wardrobe at times is laughable. I'm guessing even on this small budget they couldn't borrow better clothes/uniforms.

Music was OK.

Read the goofs. Explains a lot.

Too obvious there was no technical advisor on set. It would have been too easy to get some free advice from a retired cop looking to get his foot in the door to the movie business.

Jurassic World Dominion (2022)

STOP AT TWO

Why does Hollywood keep failing? First one with Pratt was good. Second just OK. This one.....just sad. I am very surprised the actors agreed to this poor writing.

They must have been paid a crazy amount.

So much they didn't care how much weight Ms Howard gained.

So many silly coincidences it makes it a comedy. So bad you start guessing what the next ridiculous move the writers have made.

I feel sure they will make a fourth one with a couple of no name actors or a few has beens.

Now while we are waiting for the end of this bad excuse for entertainment, we can do some laundry. That will be more exciting.

Sad I Watched

After two episodes I couldn't watch anymore. So many issues. When would a STATE Law Enforcement Agency allow an agent to investigate an acquaintance? NO state or local law enforcement agency investigates a kidnapping WITHOUT the FBI.

If you find a victim SHOT in his driveway a fairly decent "agent" would enter the house or at least secure the house until a search warrant could be obtained.

NO police officer would EVER take a "suspect" to another agent's home.

No agent or officer would ever go to a High School and start asking questions of juveniles.

No "agent" in the GBI drives a agency issue Porsche.

Luckily no fake southern accents so far.

Too much to take. Way too many stupid mistakes.

Time to hire some REAL investigators as technical advisors.

MI-5 (2015)

Good British Spy Drama

For all those other reviews: IT'S NOT MEANT TO BE A MISSION IMPOSSIBLE MOVIE!

Why so many look at this is a comparison of another movie franchise.

Looking at this as its own stand alone film, this is a great movie.

The leader of MI5 is EXACTLY what I wish we had in charge of our intelligence services.

We want him on that wall, we need him on that wall.

Kit did a good job and showed he is more than a sword willing hero.

A well told story, good director and just enough action. Sure they could have used a small more amount of tech advisors but that could be used in most films.

Ready for another one from this group.

Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)

Sad to See Where MCU Has Fallen

Poor writing, worse directing and bad acting. If "Jane" could have any more wooden she would be a tree. The money paid could in no way make up for the script they had to read.

It appears to have gotten to the point they put out anything and wait on the cash to come rolling in. In this case they may have reached the end of the comic book heroes.

Bringing in Christian should have helped but even he couldn't save this story.

There have been way too many stories through the years to choose from to do this one so poorly.

It feels like their next step will be a purely slapstick comedy. This one was close to it.

Boon (2022)

Watched Only Because of Bad Reviews

It appeared there was an effort to give this movie some bad reviews. Many of the bad reviews appear to be written by the same person.

So I gave it a watch.

Many of the complaints were totally unfounded, mistaken or outright lies.

Professional acting, great cinematography and more true to life than most movies recently.

Nice to see a film with REAL characters instead of super heroes or Hollywood's version of what they wish America was.

The beautiful northeast was well represented.

After a complete watch I have formed the opinion I can't trust the public reviews posted here because politics have infected all forms of life. The hate is eating away at all entertainment.

Run Hide Fight (2020)

Worth it...Drop Your Political Views & Enjoy a Great Movie

Wow.... JUST WOW!

Amazing acting. Wonderful story and true to life. More like this please.

Finally a movie with NO political indoctrination. Just good film making.

Watching this the second time I could only imagine the pressure placed on these actors to NOT do the film. It had to be huge.

They stayed at it and provided us some great entertainment.

Why "Hollywood" wants to continue to produce duds and lose money is beyond me.

Hollywood repeats the same story with inputs of "wokism" and expects a different outcome on their bottom line. It won't happen!

Is it a little disturbing? YES! Is life sometimes disturbing...YES!

Only Murders in the Building (2021– )

These Three Amigos!

This team couldn't be better together. The holes in the plot can easily be overlooked by the chemistry of the three lead actors.

I am overly concerned about the end.

I was a little distracted by the herpes on the face of one actor playing a minor role.
