Level 16 (2018)
Decent film, though not a sci-fi at all so don't watch it for that
The acting was good, no one really stood out negatively or positively or if you need a negative it's the doctor himself even if you see him only when half way into the storyline.
The storyline itself was decent, some parts predictable some parts were a reasonable deviation of what I would have expected, enough to keep me interested in seeing the rest of the plot. The fact that the guards and later the police talked eastern european was a nice touch, but truth be told I would find it just as believable if it was in any other part of the world.
Don't agree that this film is labeled as sci-fi, it should be a drama-triller. The whole premise of why it could have been sci-fi turns is proven to be false at the end of the movie ( though to be fair, if you were still believing that it would be real after the 'family' looking at the two potential 'children' I guess you're of the gullible kind ).
Overal, not the worst way to spend some spare time, but I wouldn't waste a theater ticket on this. Watch it on the couch.
The Passage (2019)
Excellent t.v. show!,
Just finished season 1, and it's really good. I am looking forward to seeing a second season, wanting to know what happens with various characters and the overal storyline. That alone means the series has a firm grip on me, and that's what they should aim for right.
Amy is absolutely adorable, even if she has a nasty bite ( pun intended ). That she runs away after saving the life of her former protector, being afraid of how he might see her just makes her even more believable as a little girl. And the guilt obsessed doctor, the former military women quoting the bibble the whole time, they just make a nice arch.
All the negative comments seem to be from 'buthurt' people who wanted a 1:1 to the book series ( which gladly I haven't read yet, I don't want to spoil the tv series ). That never happens, it's not possible to add the same depth as portraied in multiple books in a tv series with far less screen time. Even productions like Game Off Thrones can't pull that off. Stop complaining about it, please.
Just enjoy the series.
The Predator (2018)
Watchable, but not remarkable
Storyline = 4 tops
Acting = 5 tops
Sfx = 6 tops
If you watch this for the story, it's nothing more as a 0/10. If you watch it for the acting, it's slightly better but still bad. If you watch this just to see some special FX then you're lucky, that's the part of the movie which is the least dissapointing. Still not worth more as one star tho.
Also, to the 'reviewer' who cited this plot empowers 'people with disabilities': get a grip on reality, that was one of the parts of the movie which is actually true. Many scientist call AUTISM not an disorder but a next step in evolution. Autism isn't a mental disability, it's a developmental disorder ( and disorder only in relation to neurotypical people ). Higher functioning forms of autism are prevalent in many fields like generic IT, cryptography, math and the list goes on.
That review being the one 'liked' the most for this movie is utterly disgusting to me personally. My son doesn't have a mental dissability, he has classical autism and when tested scores entirely average on intelligence. I got Asperger Syndrome and I'm scoring in the 'gifted' range. So please Marcello Veronezzi, stop showing your ignorance by spreading lies. Darwin had an autism spectrum disorder. Einstein had it. Mozart is suspected to have it. Newton is suspected to have it. Bill Gates would probably score as one. Your ranting in regards to this film 'empowering' people with disabilities is offensive and objectively invalid.
Global Meltdown (2017)
FX made by a 10y old on his C64, school plays contain better acting as this
This is just utter garbage, the storyline is a rip off, the FX look like they are done by a renderfarm made out off Commodore64's at best and the acting is so bad it made me cringe.
The main 'science' plot is the only part which made it semi interesting. but the character(development) made me long for actual BAD movies. You know, the one's which are bad but fun because they are bad and you can relate to the people have to suffer through 'playing' in them.
This one is actually so bad, that it's beyond having fun to see people suffer. I am not even sure if it's the actors or the director, some frame's were just awfull especially in the beginning with multiple people in the town and that's clearly a directors fault. But the acting is equally awfull most of the times, the other times it's actually worse.
Skybound (2017)
Worst movie I seen in a long time
Where to start, the actors are tolerable except this 'Odin' guy, but on the other hand I am leaning to blaming the script and director over the actual actors. The movie isn't bad enough to be fun to watch because it's a bad movie, it's actually far worse as that. The plot holes and 'twists' are incredibly predictable and cheesy.
Don't pay money to see this please, if it's ever getting aired on the tv and you can't sleep you might put this on and try and fall asleep of boredom I guess.
