The fact that this "documentary" superimposes the internet peanut gallery over testimony and trial footage was shocking to me. What the heck do i care what some chronically online attention-seeking nobody thinks about either one of these two people? How is it relevant? The fact that the judge even allowed the trial to be recorded is wild to me. What's next, a full trial by social media? Netflix is simply continuing the weird faux-legitimacy of this complete legal farce and to be honest its tasteless and completely offputting. I personally was curious about the facts and tried to ignore all the online discourse and here I am seeing it anyway...

Nefarious
(2023)
Top notch dialogue and acting
25 June 2023
This movie really only has about 3 sets. Almost all of it is in one room. However, I was completely riveted by Sean Patrick Flannery and the way he delivered his lines. The dialogue between James and Edward was completely believable. I found myself wishing I could ask ol Nefarious a couple questions. I also thought there was a lot of stylish camera work when certain aspects of Edward came to light. As far as being overly preachy-- it evoked a more CS Lewis/philosophical tone to me. Really asks the viewer to examine guilt/motives/punishment even beyond "demonic possession". Could not recommend this one more.

I fully understand this style isn't for everyone but everything looked so bizarre and sloppy. Grownups chanting words like "so fire". Weird Hobby Lobby aphorisms on velour and corduroy. What in the world did i just watch.

Disabled people can be jerks too

Title aside i really liked this series-- love the entire cast, love the writing, love the unflinching look at ALL facets of romance from LGBTQ to later in life etc. One thing that irked me was the terrible whiny baby attitude of the main character even though I understand that that's the whole point, just like with Lena Dunham in Girls. But just like with Dunham i dont have to LIKE the main character at all or even a little to appreciate the smart setup around them.
The hotel was the real star of this

Who would have thought the hotel itself would outshine the very bizarre story of this poor girl and her mysterious demise? The fault lies with the disjointed storytelling and the reliance on investigative efforts of attention seeking nobodies. I'd rather see a fleshed out documentary about this very American-Horror-Story-Esque hotel and zero input from anyone famous from Youtube.

Interesting examination

I had never heard of DSK but in actual fact he's all we hear about anymore... another garden variety privileged sexual sociopath not held accountable for a single thing. This was a nice, measured look at the world around him, his victims, his investigators and the aftermath. Depressing but interesting.

Surprisingly really good

Watched this on a whim while home alone, nursing a hurt back. I was actually blown away by how freaked out this movie got me-- I have a pretty vivid imagination and scary houses are my weak spot. All that being said, if you don't like movies like Blair Witch, paranormal activity, etc you will not like this. No blood, no slashers, just a dude in a house with a good creepy backstory and shenanigans ensue.

Predator in Yogi clothing

To anyone claiming this is one-sided: they can't edit in what you didn't say. Bikram's own interactions with the prosecutor told the story. This man felt he was above everyone and women most of all. His contempt and narcissism is palpable when you see his responses. That said- those attending his classes all silently (some vocally) condoned this abhorrent behavior. You can see how some become natural born cult leaders as there are sheep aplenty.

Woof the weird obsession with mismatching labels from the 90s (Polo? For real?). Probably my own ignorance but I've never heard of MCM and Louie ain't my jam. That said, there's no more content past that. Well... and gold grills on a white dude.

Smart and heartbreaking

Really a smart show with a whole cast off interesting and fun characters. I loved the scenes with Nadia's friends at the party and of course have a huge lady crush on Natasha anyway. Give it a few episodes you won't be sorry.

All modern all yapping

Circle jerk modernist orgy. sad because even though I like a little of the glass and concrete style, a little goes a long way. The sterile interiors also left a lot to be desired. The less said about the blathering shrieky hosts' dialogue the better... Had to keep the volume wayyyy down.
