The Devil in Miss Jones: The Resurrection (2010)
Excellent attempt, but lost me along the way.
I really had high hopes for this movie, and enjoyed many aspects of it. The casting of Tom Byron as the deviant Reverend was brilliant, and is arguably one of his best performances. He played a perfect balance of dork and deviant. Nick Manning was well cast as the sinister side kick Dorian, and Evan Stone played an admirable evil preacher, although his similar performance in Jim Holliday's Paradise Hole was better. Belladonna is amazing as always. Kurt Lockwood, Savanna Samson, and Steven St. Croix turned in good performances.
Unfortunately, for my taste, I found the sex scenes pushing the limits of my interest. I understand that adult feature films compete with extreme gonzo video, but hard anal, spitting, anal to mouth, have little interest for me. I'm not necessarily offended, but just lose interest. I ended up fast forwarding through many of the sex scenes, trying to follow the story, which, although compelling, is foggy and meandering. Worth a view, but not a good bet for a romantic evening with a significant other.
Silver Screen Confidential (1996)
Astoundingly bad
This is a film that I had put on the sidelines in my Jenna Jameson 'to watch' category, assuming it was enjoyable fluff. When reviewing X rated films one does not give acting a high priority, however if the film pretends to have a plot line some level of acting is expected. The acting here rates poorly compared to the expected level of an eighth grade school play, it would pan at the high school level.
Perhaps that is too hard on the actors, many of whom are respectable or excellent in other films. The direction however makes the film fall flat. Ridiculous accents and sometimes offensive caricatures make one cringe. Jenna fans may wish to complete their collection, but otherwise this is not recommended.
Screwples (1979)
See it for Serena and Jamie Gillis
This film was a disappointment. I am a fan of Kandi Barbour and had higher expectations. The premise with Kandi as a reporter investigating people's fantasies serves as a passable, if lame, loop carrier. The ongoing seduction scene between Kandi and Gary Baron as they watch the loops is erotic, but the culminating scene between them is badly shot and poorly edited, the rapid fire cuts destroy any eroticism that has built up to that point.
The only loop of interest is the one with Serena and Jamie Gillis, real life lovers, who switch top and bottom roles in their BDSM fantasy scene, generating real erotic heat. The lesbian scene with Cris Cassidy and Valerie Darlyn is also well done, but not exceptional. The rest are throw away loops. Hard to recommend unless you want to see Serena and bad boy Jamie Gillis in action.
Nurse Nancy (1991)
Zero heat
Zara Whites and Sandra Scream are the principal attractions, and lovely as always. Alicyn Sterling's role is very minor, so fans of her needn't bother.
The plot involves a nurse (Sandra) and prostitute (Zara) as roommates who decide to switch roles, a scary thought indeed. Although potentially interesting, and with a good cast, the problem is the complete lack of heat in the scenes, it is terminally boring. The opening scene where Peter North and Zara have sex in a bathtub is cookbook, and none of the subsequent scenes pick up from there. Everyone does their job and collects a paycheck.
Tera Patrick is NOT in the film.
Dracula Sucks (1978)
Excellent Dracula spoof
A very entertaining spoof of Tod Browning's Dracula. I'd recommend this low budget porn film over Paul Morrissey's version. Jamie Gillis does an excellent portrayal of Dracula, giving superb homage to Bela Lugosi, "Children of the night, what music they make". Richard Bulik has Renfield's insane laugh down, "My cries at night, they might disturb Miss Mina." Even the fake flapping bat on a string is perfect. Reggie Nalder plays an excellent Dr. Van Helsing, and the music score, largely classical, is well chosen. Periodically an intercom interjects with odd comments, "Dr. Silver report to room 22 for a lobotomy".
Apparently a few scenes involving urination have been cut, but be prepared for incest scenes between John Leslie and 'sister' Kay Parker, as well as a necrophilia scene with Mike Ranger and the 'undead' Serena. These are all played tongue in cheek, and work well within the context of the film. Seka has a brief, but luminous, appearance. John Holmes, whose acting is limited to his impressive endowment, has two scenes. Annette Haven is lovely as always, Serena is superbly sexy, and John Leslie is the suave lead. Apparently filmed at Scotties Castle in Death Valley. Highly recommended.
69 Park Avenue (1985)
Colleen Brennan and Tom Byron
I always enjoy watching Colleen Brennan and she puts on a good performance here as a madam in a San Francisco whorehouse. Tom Byron plays a nerdy reporter her who gets a call from his mom while interviewing Colleen, and has to promise to be home on time.
Mike Horner plays a martini drinking tycoon who purchases stock in an olive company, he and Tiffany Duponte have a mildly entertaining sex scene in a limo. Erica Boyer and Little Oral Annie arrive with their partners for a sex party, and perform in perfunctory orgy scenes. The real fun is watching Tom and Colleen interact. Hard to recommend this one except for those two.
Confessions of a Teenage Peanut Butter Freak (1975)
An odd psycho-sexual drama
The film concerns the sexual awakening of Billy, an inept teenager who undergoes a series of humiliating, but nevertheless arousing experiences. His peculiar traumatic experiences cause him to develop an insecurity about his ability to have a sexual relationship with a woman, as well as a fetish for peanut butter. A young John Holmes, affecting an Irish accent, plays a seeming friend who piles further humiliation upon Billy. Finally Billy meets a soul mate, but we are left with an ambivalent conclusion. The non-consensual situations may leave some uncomfortable, but watching Billy's bumbling early sexual experiences be even more trying. Notable performances by Helen Madigan and Constance Money.
A.S.S. (1988)
For Barbii fans
This Barbii vehicle has an impressive male cast of 80's porn greats (John Leslie, Jon Dough, Randy Spears, Randy West, and Tom Byron). Bionica and Fallon put in nice supporting performances. Directed by the infamous Bruce Seven with a screenplay by Raven Touchstone, one might expect something by way of plot. Apparently the Anal Security Squad is protecting the world from anal sex, but the rest a bit fuzzy. In this porn world fantasy, before being rescued from a jail cell, it is important to pause for an extensive sexual interlude. The props include 80's style computer printouts stuck to the wall proclaiming "A.S.S. Computer Room", where at one point Barbii cracks a computer code for obscure reasons.
Other notable scenes include one where John Leslie plays the heavy in a 'torture' scene where Randy Spears zaps Barbii with a television remote control at John's command. Naturally the stoic Barbii asks for more, "Shock me again" she says, before she orgasms and everyone has sex. The most erotic scene involves Barbii dancing in a nightclub scene. Unfortunately, Randy West decides to join in and shake his booty in a g-string. Some good scenes but only recommended for collectors.
Pirate Fetish Machine 6: Funky Fetish Horror Show (2002)
Expected better
Private has turned out many films with erotic heat, but this is not one of them. As a fan of Rocky Horror Picture Show, and of kinky BDSM oriented films in general I had high expectations for this Kovi directed film.
The opening sequence is an unwatchable seventies inspired black light sequence, and despite the attempts at visually interesting sets, the sex scenes are mechanical, and the acting is unbearable. Blue polka dot lights, corpses in spider webs, foot fetishism, spitting, anal sex, and the requisite dubbed moans and groans are features. A complete waste of time.
Pirate Fetish Machine 5: Sex in a Frame (2002)
Not a bad fetish flick, but the usual Private dubbing kills the heat
A couple caught after hours in a peculiar art museum, along with two night guards, view a series of sexual encounters played out in otherwise empty gallery frames. The plot and acting, as expected, are silly to nonexistent. Each sex scene is introduced by flashing colored lights as the viewers are transported into the scene. The sex includes mild bondage, hot wax play, fetish clothing, latex, nipple and genital piercings, and foot and stocking fetishism. As is typical of Private features, anal sex is featured and is completely effortless, and facial ejaculations with the women staring into the camera typically finish the scenes. The imagery is lovely and well photographed and the women are exquisite, however the sex often becomes mechanical. In typical Private fashion, the entire movie is dubbed with fake moans and groans and terrible voice overs which kills the heat. Try watching it with the sound off and some background music.
