Reviews
Family Guy (1999)
Family Guy: Another show following the Simpsons quality slope.
Before I start my review of the show itself let me say that I first watched Family Guy while season 3 was airing in the UK and stopped watching at season 12. I used to regard myself as a huge fan of the the show but times change...
Let me say right off the bat I think seasons 1-6 still hold up well and I give them a solid 8/10 but seasons since then have slowly decreased in quality with the odd good episode (I will leave a list of episodes I feel are worth watching after season 6 at the end.)
The show follows the Griffin family and co. on wacky adventures and cutaway gags. Nowadays the cutaway gags seem overused and the stories seems to be running out of ideas.
The characters and colourful and the humour is tasteless but done fairly well (when it isn't shoving political opinions down your throat). When the show is doing stupid but wacky humour is when it is at it's best in my opinion.
The turn for the show in my mind truly turning from good to bad is the episode 'Family Heirs' which features multiple incest jokes to the point where the episode revolves around it.
As I said earlier in my review, here is a list of episode I believe are worth a watch that aired after season 6:
The Star Wars Parody Trilogy; Believe it or not, Joe's Walking on Air; Stewie kills Lois/ Lois Kills Stewie; The Man with Two Brians ;Road to Multiverse; The Splendid Source ;And Then There Were Fewer; Road to the North Pole; The Big Band Theory; Back to the Pilot; Family Guy Viewer Mail 2; Yug Ylimaf.
Mr. Pickles (2013)
Pickles punchline proves poor.
Mr. Pickles is a show that is it's own style of story of substance. The style you may ask... just trying to create pointless 'disturbing' content that does not even measure up (if you want disturbing go watch Salo or a Serbian Film, that way you might get some good production quality as the animation of this show seems lazy and cheap.)
The one point I will give this show as a positive is that the fast pacing is good, if the jokes used within the pacing were better we may actually have a decent show.
This is a programme that is airing at the same time as the genius of Rick and Morty which actually uses it's shock and gross-out humour sparingly and is a smart, intelligent show which works.
With Adult Swim airing 'Rick and Morty', 'Robot Chicken' and 'Venture Bros.' I urge you to treat yourselves to those shows instead of this schlock.
