Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (2023)
One for the fans!
If like me you were born into a world of the TMNT, then you have to see this film!
I will be an OG fan till I die, the original film still stands strong today. But what the crew of this new film have done is absolutely brilliant!! You can tell they were all true fans and wanted to do us... and the turtles proud.
The art style is out of this world! It still has that dark, gritty tone... but injects more of that old skool comic book vibe. The soundtrack was also super fly!!
I can't wait to watch this again!
It feels like the turtles are back for the next generation to enjoy, and I can't wait to see the fanart and customer art toys this movie style goes on to inspire.
I would still very much like to see a dark, gritty live action 'Last Ronin' film... But it's an ask isn't it.
The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
Avoid the temptation to watch!
I was more than disappointed with this. It felt like a poor, rushed remake of the original.
If (like me) you are a die-hard fan of the original matrix, don't taint your memories by watching this!
It pains me to be this harsh to anything matrix related, but trust me!
Wrath of Man (2021)
Not Guy's best work
I was really looking forward to this, but it fell short for me. It didn't feel like a Guy Ritchie film really, but it was something to watch.
Welcome to Marwen (2018)
Great film
I went in to this film completely blind. At first I was a little hesitant, but I encourage you to stick with it!
What unfolds is fantastic storytelling and captivating viewing. It's heartbreaking one minute, action packed adventure the next. It touches on some deep subjects (violence, fear, anxiety, escapism) in a very unique, interesting... and dare I say fun way?
It's well worth a watch!
Servant (2019)
Incredibly frustrating
Full of lots of, "no one would ever act like like that" moments. I wanted to punch Dorothy in the face every episode... so I guess thats good acting, but I regret the hours invested in this.
The Head Hunter (2018)
Gritty little gem of a movie
This film is far better than its current IMDB rating.
For the budget this film is insane... great locations, cinematography and costume design. It's very atmospheric and at times reminded me of The Revenant, you get a real sense of the cold, harsh, isolated existence this character faces.
Like others have said its no action packed blockbuster. They clearly didn't have budget to rock out a big monster battle with CGI effects, so rather than ruin the film with a low budget attempt they made smart choices and spent the money wisely.
Nothing about this film felt low budget, the character design is amazing I would buy a hot toy figure of this dude tomorrow seriously!!
Black Summer (2019)
The edge of my seat never felt so good!!!
This is a great show! Post apocalyptic, walking dead type vibe (back when that show still had juice). It's brutal, well paced, realistic, suspenseful and each episode is a tense watch from start to finish!
The chapter/title cut scenes get a little annoying after a while, they worked better in the early episodes, but other than that...
I loved it and can't wait for more!!!
If you like post apocalyptic, zombie survival shiz.... you need to get right on this!!
