oh boy

The good : the introduction of Mr Cooper.

The bad : all the rest .

So suddenly nobody mentions or investigates the whereabouts of Deline anymore ?

Where are the cops ?

Where is his wife ?

Nobody is interested or even makes a slight remark as if Deline didn't even existed .

Very bad writing.

Really bad
8 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Don't know who is responsible for making this the most ridiculous. The writers , the editors , the director .

In any case , they did put too much into this , in such a sense that they jump from one scene to another and it seems that a lot was cut just to make it fit within a time-frame.

Sam pulling someone out of an airplane and the next shot is from her in the Montecito as if nothing special happened. Really ?

This is bad for ending a season.

Not as expected
12 February 2022
Having seen Band of Brothers , I expected something in the same line in terms of quality . Not so.

The problem I have is that the characters are badly introduced from the start on.

In Band of Brothers you have the first episode with the training and you get a perfect slow introduction .

Here you get not pulled in , one is smacked into so many characters that it is confusing. Confusing not only for that reason but also for reason that a setting like a jungle is already difficult in terms of a good overview.

Then there is the sometimes bad editing.

Example : one is catapulted from a setting on Guadalcanal to a setting in the US , when it is not really necessary to do so and with little explanation.

As good as the settings, decors are or the acting, it falls down due to not feeling to be involved.

It's Band of Brothers but not as we know it.

Did not care at all for any caracter
13 April 2021
Ok. This movie was supposed to show the reality, stupidity of war . It does succeed on that last item . Reality ? If it really happened that US troops are put on an almost green island wearing brown uniforms which you can spot easy , then it was a bummer of mistake of the military . Either that or the director of this movie was not keen on camouflaged outfits. These guys have nothing of camouflage come to think of it , apart from some Japanese at the end. Any black people seen in the movie apart from the aboriginal ? NO.

Then the tactics of going up that hill. Really ? Who moves in almost straight lines upwards walking behind each other . That is a perfect target for someone with a machine gun because he doesn't have to move his gun from left to right .

The actors in this movie are good actors , but in this one they don't shine at all . I did not feel connected to anyone . People dying .You felt something ? I didn't .

The movie is also at least 1 hour to long.

No this one did nothing to me . Compared to Eastwood's Letters from Iwo Jima , this movie is worthless.

So much fake that it bothered me a lot
12 April 2021
I would have liked this movie for reason that I grew up with his music , have half his records on vinyl or cd , and have seen him twice live in 1982 and 2009 and I'm waiting upon his last concert-tour when Covid has passed.

Though this movie disappointed me a lot for reason that so many mistakes are made and I wonder if Elton himself ever agreed on the outcome . Scene where he is singing with Kiki Dee is 1976 and next we go back to 1975 . And no it was no flashback . And when they sing Goodbye yellow brick road the timeline is again wrong. Other mistakes : Rocketman was not played at the troubadour , he did not change his name to John because of Lennon , Bernie did not write Border song ,he married only in 1984 , and there are other errors.

Bottom line , so many mistakes that it can not compete in any way with f.i. Bohemian Rhapsody.

A shame.

Bored to death
10 April 2021
I finally watched this movie . I had it for years sitting on the shelf . And boy will it be thrown of that shelf immediate. I thought I was going to see something in the likes and quality of Midnight Cowboy , for it being in the same year. 1969/1970 is a turning point in movies and film . You have the end of the hippies , the Beatles , start of prog rock , Pink Floyd used in movie-scores. But this movie , I don't get the fuzz , I don't get the hype even if I try to setup some glasses reflecting that period of time . Nothing is going on and for sure the only message I get is that these 3 people are a waste of space and time, my time. I think that the use of the music in that movie , is what it catapulted to stardom. And maybe it is the only good thing going on.

Overhyped
8 April 2021
I only saw this movie recently . It was according to my cousin a very good movie . Though after seeing this , I was very much disappointed . It tries to hard of being stylish in a way that it reminds of Tarantino , though that director seems to pull it of a lot better. The gimmick with the music is over-used , the acting is only so-so , and the story line is one in a dozen . Ok, the camerawork is pretty decent , but that is almost the only thing that stands out . There is hardly anything happening which you don't expect and the ending is Bambi-time.

Just Bad
27 September 2020
I don't like this movie . The script writing is not good and the acting is even worse. From the start of the movie you get dialogues which are meaningless . Thank you for the coffee ? They have been living so long together and they act as if everything is new . And yes , wow , of course , from the start something happens . As if I'm watching a Star Trek movie where also within the first 5 minutes something happens instead of building slowly towards something. Then the acting : the usual Tom Cruise , who looks like .....well Tom Cruise . Seriously how many times do you see Tom as not being Tom being full of himself. Morgan Freeman . Sorry , but on a personal note , I wonder if there is any movie where he has not played in . Morgan can't act . He is just being himself over and over again . Anything positive : yes , the visuals , the pace and the editing.

Bad
27 January 2020
Saw this recently and oh boy , I'm I glad I never bought this on BR or DVD. In the wake of some really good Asian action movies such as Hidden Dragon,Crouching Tiger , there have been some other very good movies , alas also some very bad ones , and this one is situated in the last categorie. All emphesis on trying to be epic , scenery , but falling down on stupid music-scores all over the place and nottin original and poor storyline. Don't watch this , it will only tire your eyes.

Bad - and worse camerawork
27 January 2020
Have seen a couple episodes . Didn't laugh at any time . So don't get it that this is supposed to be comedy. The worst part is the camera-man or as for it the director instructing the camera-man. It's mainly shot at one person , then the other who replies , again to the other , and this being repeated and repeated untill death do us part. For a British comedy show , I'm sure the worst I have ever encountered.

Mickey Mouse in Space
3 January 2020
Oh boy , where to start . For those who don't want to read the rest , take it from me , this movie is the worst in the series and makes from The Phantom Menace a gem. My feelings during the movier : none , I felt like Spock . Not afraid , nothing thrilling , nothing to laugh about , nothing to bother about. I think that there was so much footage , then they hired someone with scissors and next someone with tape to stick some parts together without any available light. The screenwriters : shoot them out of the galaxy together with the rest including Mickey Mouse Disney. Not only is this is the worst in the series , for me it is also one of the worst movies ever seen in 50 years. I thought , finally , no Death Star , yippie , but no , there was one , only this time it was a Death 'Death Star' . And oh , there were suddenly 2 Ewoks ( shoot Disney again ) , Luke and Leia and a previous death Emperor . Jar Jar Binks ? not seen , unless it was during a time that I closed my eyes for being so ashamed that I was watching this vehicle of crap. I feel sorry for the director , who I think was pushed hard to kiss Disney their feet and cash their money to make this . I feel sorry for the musicians to watch this crap and create layers and layers of endless scores. The only positive and for which I give 1 star is the acting from Adam Driver. Daisy Ridley , sorry , overacting and not convincing. For sure the last SW movie I will ever want to see , even Mel Brooks his pastiche was way better , even 2 minutes of Southpark are better . " Hi Cartman ' , what did you find of this latest SW ? Cartman : " S*ck , my b*lls .

IQ BELOW ZERO
21 December 2019
I started to watch this movie by setting my IQ to 60. However in about 30min I needed to adjust this to 35 and by half the movie again to below 20 and stop watching all together. The only positive to say about this movie are the visuals and even here there is not much new , but that is not a shame . The acting is however below zero , the plot is below zero , the directing is below zero . Stereo-type after stereo-type are presented time and time again that it hurts . I understand the remarks from some REAL directors that these kind of movies are rubbish. Their remarks hit the spot. Not that we don't need any popcorn movies anymore , but please , have some respect with the intelligence of people instead of thinkin' with your pockets full of money. My advise : don't watch this .

What a waste of time
6 September 2019
Thought I would be catapulted back in time with the new show . Alas . Nothing funny , storylines stupid and flat , caracters out of caracter . Gonzo has become normal ? What happened ? I mean , ok fine to try to make something up to date , but it failed completely . One can compare it to That '80s show to That '70s show . One popular and very good and then the follow-up miserable bad. Good that it is gone .

Better than expected
25 June 2017
I love this movie. First , it has some great actors Winstone, Sutherland, Kate . Second : the scenery is what I want for a vacation. Thirdly : the camera crew , hats off . Fourth : the script might be thin , but hey Bond movies are thinner and full of non logic and overblown scenes. Do I like movies from Pasolini, Kurosawa, Kitano etc ...yes I do. Do I like a good action packed movie or SF , yes I do . But recently Hollywood is failing in most departments and have to squeeze out Alien-craps,Transformer craps and most blockbusters are not worthy a view. In that retrospect this little movie was enjoyable.

Missed opportunity
25 June 2017
Only recently saw this. This movie is as if it was directed by 2 persons. It starts OK , has a different view as to previous outcomes and wants to be a Braveheart 2 . However despite the good acting ( with exception of Crowe who does not fit here ) the movie falls flat as from the scene where Crowe dances with Blanchet. It becomes cheesy, mellow and in short Hollywood style. Now maybe , just maybe this is not at fault of Scott but rather the producers, but still , the last half destroys the movie completely. I found Oscar Isaac's performance very good and of course Von Sydow and Hurt. The battle scene at the end at the beach made it even worse . No-one can figure out who it fighting who ( something Kurosawa fortunate can due to clans who use different colors ). And the shot where Crow shoots his last arrow is good for the waste bag. One more thing : why do producers think that we need music all over the place ? Credit to the Coens who did an entire movie without any music.

Faillure once again
25 May 2017
Warning: Spoilers
The good : it's not as bad as Prometheus. The bad : it's not that good. Either Scott did a bad job , or either this movie is edited to ruins. It feels like scenes have been edited to the bones and maybe that's also the reason why the release was so many times postponed. What is good : well , the visions , and Scott is mastering this perfectly . The acting is rather good except that I don't remember anyone by name which means that characters were used as meat. The ships Captain by accident is a nice touch in regard to being a character not being that sure of himself, however he should have had more screen- presence. The script : in fact a copy paste with parts of Alien, Aliens and Prometheus. Fantasy is low . " Oh , we have an alien bursting out a body and we already used the belly In Alien so now lets use the back of the body". Could not have found that myself. Then there are numerous mistakes ( or edited ). F.i. they come out of sleep and the next 5 sec they act on steroids....not really possible is it. The worst : I did not scream in space. I wasn't afraid , neither perplexed, neither impressed. So what is next Scott ? A movie of what went on between Prometheus and Covenant ? Hope not.

Almost good.
31 December 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Saw this 2 weeks back. Actually I liked the first hour or so , but then it dropped in quality. I thought the villains were the best in this outcome and certainly way better then the heroes. The blind swordsman ? what was that about ? referring to Zatoichi ? gimmick it is . The rebels attack and there are 2 destroyers just laying there doing practically nothing or are not capable ? just stupid . At least invent a reason for being so lame like f.i. they are not full equipped due to holiday-season or home for Christmas. And we get some more non original stuff in the last hour such as the way to drop the shield ( actually they find this switch rather easy do they not ) , the search for the plans is also a copy from SW4. The only thing original is that all the heroes die. Though the execution of it is rather Disney , most certainly with the 2 main characters on the beach . The one who pressed for such an ending should be grounded.Again , this could have been the best SW since The empire strikes back , but it is not, even when they incorporate some of its elements. A five out of ten is about correct. Now let's hope that the new Blade Runner is not messed up.

Beyond ? Beyond failure
21 August 2016
OK, saw this last evening and left the theater very disappointed.Hollywood becomes Bollywood. More, more, more. That is what Hollywood stands for these last 10 to 15 years.More explosions, more action, more CGI . Bigger is better is what they think. Refrase : bigger is more money in the pocket. What is it with Hollywood bosses that they fail time and time again in making a decent SF movie.Ask 1000 ST-fans what the best ST movie is and the outcome will be ST-II. And why ? Because there is tension. Tension, loss, great story. And this is missing completely in this latest movie. The longer it runs the more ridiculous it gets with action to the point it makes almost Superman look like Cartman. Please take a look at some episodes from Star Trek Enterprise. There are episodes with more tension then this movie. Take f.i. Anomaly or Harbringer in season 3. Now that is what I call top quality stuff. It seems to be normal these days that episodes being of any kind of genre are better than movies. The movie itself : the motorcycle scene: ridiculous and trying to be hip, other side of the Galaxy listening to the Beasty Boys - deeeuhhh . Falling into a trap so easy ? no check of information or probe ? Start up very easy of a junk starship ? The filming of most action scenes are handled badly- one can't cope all what is going' on or even detect who is who or where. If Leonard could see this- he might think " I could have done this better ". Oh what : we have to cope with it that Hollywood has become in fact Hollow-wood and will stay as such as long suckers like us remain stupid in going to stupid movies. Now let's wait for the next Disney SW with again some death-star.

A new hope part II
20 December 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Spoiler alert :I expected at least something better than all latest screw-ups such as Prometheus,Jupiter Ascending, the latest Superman etc etc - the list is too long . But alas the new SW-movie is a bummer. The main problem : a total lack of imagination and that's not the director's fault but the writers and moreover the producers. I'm trying to find stuff which I did not see before in Episode IV. X- wings check, Death star check, Darth Vader part II check, nice robot check, bar with band and scum check,Millennium Falcon check,Leila-Han Solo-Luke check, Rebel base check...and we can go on and on and on.Is it entertaining ? For me : very little. There are episodes from Star Trek Enterprise which are more interesting, darker, more twists, moving. I didn't care for any of the characters and what happened to them. Sorry , I did care for BB-8.Then I have a problem with some images which seemed to be rather grainy and a sound without any punch. The movie started rather well in fact and with good pace, but from the moment Han Solo came along it went down and was so so predictable. Leila's role was also better dropped. Bottomline : it's in fact part IV part II, predictable, lack of imagination. Two stars for BB-8.

awful
13 November 2015
It took 2 episodes for me to skip all the rest. It's awful. It could have been good . Just replace the music, the stupid style, the cameraman. All those comparing this with Boardwalk , well open your eyes. Boardwalk was at least believable, had music that did fit and the acting and pacing was perfect even if being slow, because at that time there was still time available in life. Now they make a show which does reflects the same time-frame with music that does not fit and use stylistic camera-work that does not fit. What is worse is the overacting. Everybody is trying so hard. This is bad directing as well. There is so much talent on the floor and it is used in a wrong way. No sorry, not for me.

Bad documentary
22 March 2015
I saw this documentary on screen and was very very disappointed. Genesis has been one of my favorite bands since I came across their music as from Nursery Crime and even until the We can't dance despite the lack of the Progg-factor. My point of view was always that a band needs to evolve.Phil moved Genesis towards a more mainstream band and still I loved their music. So that meant that I remained to see their shows, but as well Phil's shows , The Musical Box shows and latest the Hackett shows. The documentary didn't reveal anything that I did not know yet, with the exception that there is still a visible problem between Tony and Peter and even Tony and Steve. More: I would not be surprised that Tony is the problem within Genesis as to the factor ego against ego. More : he even somehow indicates it himself and even more he's all well aware of it if you read the latest Progg-magazine where they dig into this docu. But how about this docu ? Well it seems that Steve is neglected almost completely and the ones who edited this and the ones who gave their fiat to air this the way it was edited should be sacked. It is utterly unbelievable that Steve's contribution is put in the background. He's one of the best guitar players and came with new tricks and sounds and lifted Genesis to major heights and this is completely put aside ? What we get is more emphasis on the solo- stuff of Tony which lets be honest and despite the quality is far less important than Steve's solo-work. So what do we get here ? Maybe a jealous reaction because Steve is filling the Albert Pub with a Genesis show and having success all over ? Then we get into Ray Wilson : who is that guy ? Even more neglect of facts. OK the last album was not good at all but that doesn't mean that one is not allowed to talk about it . A docu is meant to shine light onto the good things but also the bad things and what we get here is the BBC playing on safe , very safe , don't let us dig too deep under the belt. So in short, a shame of a docu made by the BBC and edited by people with big scissors in order to keep the myth alive that Genesis was hunky dory.Shame BBC.

Not that great
11 February 2015
Is it just me ? I watched this again lately and I guess the previous time must have been in the 80's and 70's. Reflecting on this , this movie is not that great. Compare this to nowadays series in the likes of The sopranos or Boardwalk empire and this movie falls flat on acting, pacing. As for the directing : its too much directed, you feel that all the scenes are so carefully chosen and that the characters are mainly there to fill the screen. Now, we have today also directors such as Tarantino where you know that every single scene is already played in his head before someone hits the record button, but it doesn't feel that way in most cases ( at least not in this time , maybe in 20 years it does ). I must admit that I do not like Redford. His acting- skills are as bad as Bruce Willis and let's keep it friendly and call it overacting or trying to act. The music is nice though and fits. The sets are OK, but so so visible as done in studio. I liked this movie in the 70's , less liked it in the 80's , and by now I don't like it anymore. It's a typical movie of its time and fortunate there are other older movies which stand the time-test better.

Predictable
8 February 2015
I expected so much of this movie and sadly this so a bummer. What's good : the images, the effects. What's bad : all the rest. Storyline is so simple and predictable. I think the only thing which is a bit awkward is the harvesting of the planets ( which they really did it right now in reality then ) , but for all the other ideas , they are not new or inventive. This movie reminds me of The chronicles of Riddick, a bit of Dune , a bit of the latest Matrix. The acting is rather poor and what's worse is the cutting or mixing of some scenes. The storyline is as said simple, almost Cinderella-kind and by God the good ones always are just in time to rescue Mila . Stopped counting how many times that happened. Then the villain is so pathetic that it made me laugh. The characters so stereotypic that I can't believe that this came from the same guys who gave us The Matrix. And being fare , The Matrix trilogy was also acting with special effects added later, but at least we had good acting. Mila is trying but it's not enough, and the scenes are so short that it is impossible for actors to give what they are supposed to do. Then there is this scene where she had to register. What was that all about ? Nicking Terry Gilliams Brazil ? In the end I can only rate this purely on what's good , the effects, images and dresses. And that's what this movie is : a dress with no substance in it. Sad.

Tried and failed
9 November 2014
What is it with our directors that they fail to come with a SF movie being renewing, different, special. Nolan might be good for certain aspects but is copying from left and right ideas and puts them in a new movie which is supposed to have us reflect on our being human and respecting our planet. The wormhole equals the monolith of 2001. The binary messages equal the messages in Contact ( moreover with the same actor ). Some of the visuals equal scenes in Gravity...and so on and on. The movie is too long and too cheesy. If I compare this to 2001, 2001 will top it , compare it to Contact , Contact will top it , and even Gravity with a thin-line story will top it. No sorry despite the efforts put in this which I have to aknowledge it does not deliver the goods I want from a SF-movie. I sincerely hope that some day some director will have the guts to take on a Jack Vance novel , now that would be something different . So Steven Spielberg , what are you waiting for ?

underrated
11 November 2013
This is one of those underrated movies . What I like about this movie is simple : the acting is very good, the settings are credible, the situations are credible, the dialogs are very good. What more ? it doesn't have the usual Hollywood honey spread over it with luscious soundtracks, over-romantic scenes or overblown action. Nicolson and Michael Caine are super in acting and there is enough going' on to keep you awake. No special effects , no blasting soundtracks , no stupid dialogs , just plain simple perfect cinema that does not need an happy ending. Very good directing as well. This is better than 3/4th coming out of Hollywood. Who needs blockbusters anyway.
