October Faction (2020)
Season one is enough
Episode one was great.
I was drawn to this because the "different world/reality" was interesting and I wanted to know more - who actually hunts who, etc.. In reality, it is another high school teenage angst-y show. Will the sister have friends, will the brother be most popular?
For me, the last episode is kind of an end of the whole story. I skipped through it, it didn't evolve into something worth watching.
You (2018)
Okay
Predictable, but fun.
Season one was better, maybe because the story was fresh and new.
In season two, I didn't care about most of the characters. Just skipped to Joe/Love scenes.
Dracula (2020)
One of three is good
I liked the first episode.
The second was acceptable.
The third episode is a student film school project. It feels like an assignment for "Choose your favorite book and write a fresh modern twist".
The rating is low because I am deeply hurt and disappointed.
In the Tall Grass (2019)
Watch reviews on YouTube instead
The film is incredibly dull. There are some interesting themes and watching Explained videos is much more interesting and satisfying.
Along Came a Spider (2001)
Awful
Morgan Freeman is great, but he couldn't save the script.
The dialogue makes your ears bleed.
The plot reminds me of a poor Scooby Doo knockoff. The cartoon is far better executed.
Scent of a Woman (1992)
Too long
Al Pacino tries to act as a blind man, fails.
There is no actual plot, the writers couldn't decide if this is a drama about difficult choices or a fun 'let's go to the city and have an adventure' type of thing. It just feels thrown all over the place.
The whole storyline could have been shown in less than an hour.
The Lion King (2019)
Nice try
The original is a masterpiece. I feel like this one just served as a case study for technology. "Look what we can do, they look almost real".
Forgettable, slow.
They ruined the character of Scar. In the original he looked like a proper villain and he had energy. You could see him as a threat. In this one, he just looks and acts tired and bleak. I would sooner assume that he is very sick or dying, rather than he is ambitious and evil.
American Genius (2015)
Great
Great, loved it, learned a lot. Would watch it again!
The Ballad of Buster Scruggs (2018)
Entertaining
Summary
Good: western, musical, short stories, made by Coen brothers, great visuals
Bad: the stories are not linked, would have liked a twist in the endings
X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019)
Who wrote this?
Who wrote this - I would like his job. No effort and still got paid.
The conversations are flat and the actors look uncomfortable saying them.
There is a plot and in the same time, you feel like there is no plot.
I lost interest in what was happening very quickly.
Do not watch.
Geronimo: An American Legend (1993)
Slow and boring
Slow, boring. Jason Patrick speaks quietly and is very irritating. Similar to the soft and incomprehensive talking from the tv show Nikita.
The stunts involving horses are impressive, for example Gatewood taking cover. Just watch clips of those and read about Geronimo on Wikipedia.
Best of Enemies (2015)
Interesting
Great film, watched it twice. I have not heard about this event and did not know anything about the topic.
Educational and well made.
