Olive, Olive Penderghast. What can I say? Remember John Hughes? Remember his iconic, epic movies? Even if you don't or have never seen them, Olive brings him and his movies back to life.

Every time I watch this movie I find something I missed or forgot about that makes me laugh. It's zeitgeist is apropos at this time of bullying and gossip through social media and EVERYONE with there face in a cell phone 24/7.

Based on a famous book/movie, this movie puts a spin on it with a stellar cast and lots of zingers that WILL make you laugh at one point or another or A LOT.

The family of the century, shot beautifully, a great plot with courage, alure and twists.

I give no spoilers other than I'm a Cinefile of all categories and had to buy this one because I want to watch it over and over! By the score, and reviews, I'm not alone!

Thanks for the inspiration Mr. John Hughes. Loved you then and how you carry on in this.

Penelope (2006)

I feel this moviewas underrated. I feel this is some of Christina's better work showing her versatility and pulling away from her type cast Wednesday Addams character.

It was great to find that she never auditioned for the roll as she was allegedly approached by Reese Witherspoon who felt she would nail the part!

I do have an issue with the movie that also applies to many other movies as well though. If the movie took place in London, why don't the characters collectively use an English accent? Richard Grant used his own. Catherine O'Hara does not nor does Christina. Even odder, Scottish James McAvoy uses an American accent when he could have easily used an English accent. It seems logical as the story reveals he is from there. Am I the only one?

Overall, a unique plot with a nice twist. Worth watching again. Not a mushy rom-com but more a fantasy forward.

Kind of hard to leave a proper review when It is shown on Amazon to be available one day and then the next day, it's gone??? I have no idea why the show suddenly disappeared. I was willing to pay for it? But unfortunately, by the time I got back to it, it was gone!

Now it's back with no alert. He used some OLD stuff and a few new zingers but after following him on social media, drunk as a skunk, I expected more.

He's filthy rich, found God, *didn't know she was missing* and went out with a $2 haircut and a few hahas. I felt he was repentinting for all his drunken facebook posts.

I wish him well but the whole situation was kind of messed up and lackluster. No "You're welcome" or "Here's your sign" farewell. Ordained or not, he went out with a whimper and wife jokes. So sad. Enjoy your $ and embarrassing fb posts. I'm starting to see why it was pulled almost immediately after being offered.

Go with god or booze or whatever does it for you. You let me/us down with your last hurrah.

I really like this movie and I think I am giving it a lower rating than it deserves. I love Dax and Kristen. They work so well together in everything they do in real life and on screen. This movie really makes me move. I just have to say that reading reviews I found one by PowerNation and it says that this movie is for guys because Dax is a real car enthusiast, to say the least. I don't want to give any spoilers away but I will say this, I am not a guy! I've lived in California and I use the word dude very loosely and I find it offensive that they think a woman cannot be a complete car freak! If you're into cars, then you're into what Dax is putting down. I knew that that was a 67 Lincoln the second I saw it. This movie does not disappoint either action wise or comedy-wise. So ladies, don't let the guys keep you down! And you guys, don't ever take us for granted. Because behind the eyes that you look into maybe a complete Motorhead! This movie is for anyone and you don't have to be a car freak. If you are, it's a bonus! If you're into men, then Dax may do it for you and if you're into women, Kristen is the complimentary balance. No matter what your lifestyle , It's a win-win, fun, good time for all!

Tim Minchin: Back (2022)

GO. BACK. SO DISAPPOINTED

I'd like to start by saying that I've always loved Tim but I'm so angry right now instead of laughing.

How the mighty have fallen, or at least he thinks he's mighty because most of the show he just bragged about himself and almost smashed glass into the audience's faces because he had to drink "a shot" of tequila to slow himself down on a rant that was so fast no one could understand him. He then proceeded to smash the glass at the edge of the stage!

I was so excited to see him do something new and wonderful after his performance with the Heritage Orchestra but after seeing this I only hope that that cage is still around and they can put him back into it as he just acted like a prima donna orangutan.

He belittled and berated, and not in a fun way, the audience and their ability to understand his musical talents. He also insulted L. A., one of the towns in the United States which made him very famous *and rich* worldwide, proceeding to insult the city and it's highlights. So I guess he made his money and then ran back to Australia. That's just low.

I didn't take it to heart at first but waited patiently for something funny to happen only to be disappointed by another song that we all know and have heard him do multiple times before about a man named Sam and his mum and how their religious beliefs and actions saved her vision. Was he going to sing about Prejudice next? No. He goes on acting a fool and does a few original numbers which really don't get any high scores from not only me but from what others have stated in interviews. He continues with a song about not wanting to be lonely and not effing someone because he loves his wife and the hardship of traveling to maintain, increase his net woth, to put it politely. The person responded with "What do you want? An effing medal?" Right? We get it. You love your wife even though you make jokes at her and your children's expense and this time it wasn't funny.

Towards the end of the show he did a song after a short introduction about staying at a party and talking too much. That's how I feel about this show.

He once was a man in a cage and he was all the rage. He came to L. A. Got majorly paid and then went away.

This is what we get after 10 years? I give up on Tim. I adored his wild and whacky barefooted ways. Couldn't get enough. I expected so much more from a man of his caliber. One laugh=one star.

The Good Place (2016–2020)

I can't emphasize enough when I say that I hope whoever canceled this show over creative indifference or whatever the reason was, ends up someplace that is not the good place! Obviously, so many of us loved this show and still do as I'm about to binge it for the third time. It had the perfect combination of actors. The plot kept you wanting more and who doesn't like a Frozen yogurt stand on every corner that makes you feel the best feelings that you've ever felt no matter if you are a good or a bad person in life. Personally, I believe there are too many gods to worship just one and get it right. I like to play it safe and just be a good person in general. So if anybody is out there listening, or up there, LOL, please bring the show back! So many more things could have happened and so many different Avenues but I don't want to give away any spoilers. For those of you who have watched, you will understand and if you haven't, hurry up and start watching this because you will be hooked like a fish instantly! That's all for me tonight. Thank you. Bored to Death (2009–2011)

Serpentine! Serpentine!

Ironically, also sadly, I started watching this series that I had never heard of, right before Allen Arkin's passing. I was very young when I first saw the movie The In-laws but apparently it left the Lasting Impression not only on me but other since there was a remake of the movie. I've Loved just about everything he was in and also the cast of this movie. It was a quirky mix of characters but they all melded together to make one delicious comedy which I wish had never ended! I never saw it coming. I vote for more episodes even though it ended over 10 years ago I think it could pick up right where it left off being that there are so many open ends. What happens to Ray and his following? What happens to Jonathan and his career? And Ted Danson and his wife in the same show? His character also has a lot of open ends but I've never seen Mary Steenburgen look so beautiful and flow so naturally along with her real life mate. I could go on and on but the title of my review kept showing up throughout the series and I will never forget this show because of the unfortunate timing of The In-law's star's unfortunate and somewhat shocking passing. It makes me wonder if he ever saw this show and what he thought about it and his son Adam as well. I guess I was left out of the loop because it was a very hectic time of my life when this show started but feel very fortunate to have actually witnessed this bizarre Trio and the rest of the cameos working together with such ease. Thanks for all the laughs through all these years, Alan!

65 (2023)

Almost but not quite.

I've been trying to hold back on leaving so many reviews but I have to speak up now. This movie had so much potential even though it was like many other movies in it's genre, which I really like but... for some people they may feel they know what happened in this time frame but this movie has a twist which I will not spoil for you. It feels like they said "We ran out of money guys. So sorry. We're going to have to cut this one short." I really like Adam Driver and the newcomer but they just did the cut and dry version of something that could have been so much greater. I would have been extremely disappointed had I actually gone to a theater and paid money to watch it even though I am an Adam Driver fan. So if you want something short and action-packed that's relatable, this one's for you. If you intended on getting the bang for your buck, you're going to be somewhat disappointed. I look forward to Adam's next movie. Let's hope they give him a little more screen time next time. Cheers!

Dom Hemingway (2013)

Where's the ending???

Jude Law gained 30 lb for this movie by drinking 10 Coca-Cola's and eating two tubs of ice cream a day for this movie. It had a pretty good cast and a fairly decent plot but after indulging an hour and a half into this movie you find that Instant Karma may have occurred. Everything is as it should be and I'm pleased 9/10 into the movie but what happened to the end? It could have gone so many ways. They just left you hanging there. This movie could have been so much more if they could have just put an ending to it one way or the other. I'm not going to reveal the ending because I'm not that kind of a person and I hate spoilers but I definitely am lowering my rating because of how it ended. So much energy and time and money just wasted.

Ideal Home (2018)

Paul and Steve...YES

I had to wash this movie twice to find faults. That was tough. I loved the cast. It was shot beautifully with breathtaking views including indoors and outdoors. The plot was definitely original. I've never seen a movie like this in my life. There was no bashing on anyone's shortcomings, which most of us have, or on anyone's lifestyles. It was somewhat of a shock to see Paul in hipster mode and still he managed to pull it off fantastically! Steve Coogan never fails to impress. I think the only way he could have done better is throwing in a Michael Caine accent but that really wouldn't have jived with the movie. Yes, I realize this is just one run-on sentence but I'm not down with using multiple paragraphs as a lot of people do to describe how I feel after I've seen a movie. The plot was definitely original to say the least. I will watch this again intentionally and I feel it was definitely underrated. The only fault I can see in this movie is the original father figure seemed a little too clean cut to pull the part off. Other than that, I'm not going to tell you the end because I hate when people give spoilers! This was definitely one of the easiest reviews to give as the movie flowed effortlessly. So if you're into Paul Rudd and Steve Coogan, and you love art or even if you don't, you're really going to like this movie as it is light and leaves you with a positive view on the world and if you will have watched it at night it's not going to give you nightmares unless you're a homophobe. Chelsea: To England with Love (2017) Season 2, Episode 9

This open windows to facts that even the international news could not fill me in on. I can see both sides of the argument of Brexit but, I had no idea how racist the people are/were in the UK. It seems the major complaint of the Countryman is that there are hundreds of thousands of immigrants coming into their country and that's their major problem? And what they have put into the pot as was put, they are not getting back when they retire. Does this sound familiar? We are all terrified of working all our lives and not getting what we have saved up for, that our government made us do. On the other hand, there is the monarchy or was. There dripping in diamonds and jewels and castles and land while their people are fortunate enough to have vending machines so they can get a clean pair of socks which is their number one choice of need above food or underwear or warmth or shelter. Not only that, but women's monthly needs for homeless are not even counted as an actual need! These are the people who also believe that Donald Trump is a.. insert your own word or adjective here, and they make fun of him but even though they have a better education system we are still made to look like the fools. It seems that the children in this episode are the ones that have the clearer vision, especially the females. I'm gobsmacked yet I can relate having lost my family and being disabled. Do you know how hard it is to get help from the government that is supposed to help you and made the rules to take money out of your paycheck all your life when you need it? I'm not quite there yet but let me tell you, it takes an army. Literally. You're going to need Court help. You're going to need Mentor help. You're going to need the help of any stray dog that has walked across your path in life.

Being a botanist, I've always loved and relished English Gardens and English weather and the cleanliness and fresh look and feel of the UK but underneath the dirt is just more dirt. Please pardon the errors in punctuation. I'm using my paid for expensive phone that is paid for monthly for use via credit card so there's no problem for the business that I use yet today I went to get a new cable box because for a year and a half I've had a piece of junk and they gave me an older one that looks like it had been beaten and it weighs 10 lb approximately. There is no justice in this world. So once again I have mixed feelings as we all suffer, aka the rich get richer the poor get poorer!

Snatch (2000)

Not even close to Fight Club

Is it because it's a Guy Ritchie movie? Is it because the people that saw this DIDN'T see Fight Club? It must be one of the two or both. I thought the characters, most of them were unoriginal and the accents were just insulting not comedic even though I believe they weren't supposed to be either. This movie came out one year after Fight Club and it doesn't even compare to the characters and plot twists in Fight Club. Don't get me wrong, it had a great cast AND I'm a Guy Ritchie fan but I feel this paled in comparison to any if not ALL of his movies. So if you HAVEN'T seen the aforementioned Fight Club, maybe give it a look see and then see how you feel about this movie. Just my opinion. But I'm pretty spot on about these things being a cinephile.

Hocus Pocus 2 (2022)

After waiting almost 30 years I expected at least a little more. Not having the Marshalls in the movie except for the clips of them of other people watching during this movie, kind of hurt. Also it seemed a bit more childish and not really meant for people of all ages. It was obviously not shot anywhere near Salem and did not have the ambiance the first movie had. I felt it was a bit short as well. Almost expected Zachary Binx to make an appearance but I guess that's part of the charm the movie Lost as well. There was no love interest which was part of the main plot of the first movie which I feel it definitely missed. I'm hoping that this will lead up to a Hocus Pocus 3 to make up for what this movie lacked. I waited a long time, we waited a long time for this movie to come along and I feel sorely disappointed and ripped off.

Dumbledore as you've never seen him before.. you won't believe your eyes when you see the fantastic colors and the actors in this movie. I remember seeing it in the late '80s. I was shocked and fascinated! It's a must-see but you need to brace yourself a bit if you are not used to graphic scenes as there is full frontal male and female. Helen Mirren has the best classic last words in this movie and it will make you want to root for her especially if you've ever been abused by a misogynistic megalomaniac! Bon appetit! You'll never forget this movie once you see it.

Russell Brand: Messiah Complex (2013 Video)

I want to know how he can speak so quickly and be so precise and almost hurt my brain because I have to think so quickly to comprehend to get every joke and nuance of everything he says! He tells you of his idols and their good points and then tears them down. That appears to be the point of this show. Basically the 10 commandments and the irony and the agony of the perceiver. He is all over the place with such speed, it's amazing.

Yes he's very pleasant to look at, and he knows it but he also admits it.. along with everything else that crosses his mind. He doesn't even mind and also lets you know that his mom is there at the show and encourages him. On the other hand, he calls himself incorrigible!

In summation, I think he's trying to get you to open your mind, realize what you do maybe wrong but yet it's okay as long as you realize the grand scheme of things as long as you're not a murderer! LMFAO! I don't know where he gets his energy from but I wish I had some of it! And I'm glad to be on the same planet he is on as well. He's a positive force in the universe. 💙💚💜

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent (2022)

I am a fan of his but it appears his career is really coming to an end. It looks like he did the movie just so he could afford a better toupe' or maybe some more hair dye or another dinosaur skull.

To start with he looks absolutely awful physically. Does he really think that we believe his hair is darker than it's ever been before and his beard suddenly grew in black? The movie itself was something we've all seen a hundred times before. If it was supposed to be a comedy then they missed, big time. It seems like something he would write for himself and maybe went on a bender and put it together in a couple days and was very over confident that this was going to be a hit.

THIS WAS JUST SAD.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)

If you haven't seen Wandavision, forget it.

If you haven't seen what Wanda did in her own little series then it'll probably be pretty difficult for you to understand what's going on in this movie. Also, this movie is just a lead-up to the next movie so don't expect any fantastic revelations. It is a very action-packed exciting movie although I found it kind of hard to watch as it was redundant in a lot of ways and very obvious what was coming until the very end. Don't forget to watch what happens coming up during the credits! It's STRANGE!

The Man Who Fell to Earth (2022)

Better than the original

So far, it seems a lot like Resident Alien but not nearly as funny. More science fiction though. This is all I'm getting so far. I hope it gets better as the series unravels but still, it is a lot easier to follow than Bowie's version. NO DISRESPECT INTENDED TO THE LATE, GREAT BOWIE. It strikes the curiosity. That is for sure.

Pretenders, not actors. I'm so angry I paid money for this Monkeywrenched pos! I'm sure Bruce Campbell not thrilled about it either. Wasn't funny. Wasn't scary. Just sad. Following Dave from the beginning and gave him a lot of my money and no regrets until now. Someone got the best of me this time. Stick to singing guys. I'm not just another soul for sale. Oh well. 🙄 I paid to watch Dave fake puke??? The only reason I gave 4 stars was because it was the Foo Fighters otherwise it would have been less.

Great movie but...

This movie had an excellent cast and it was shot very well except accept one thing.... it was very obvious from almost the beginning. I enjoyed watching some of my favorite actors but it was way too easy to figure out. It was a beginner's mystery thriller.

I was thrilled the teo were back and...also loved the rest of the characters. NPH really made the show. Not because who he is but he was an essential character for the movie.

Also loved the last bit after the credits. "Meow"! Hahahahaha!

A plot done dozens of times. Acting is okay but just another Hobbit movie w/o Hobbitsitsis or elves or Orcs. I could only get through a little over half of it. Too much blah, blah, blah and going nowhere but the already known destination. Too predictable.

Worst yet. I love Eddie and he usually makes me laugh the entire time but this would have angered me if I had paid to see it. Nothing new. He admitted he was a bit nervous and I suppose it overwhelmed him. I laughed twice in an hour and a half. Come back Eddie! Where have you gone? I miss you!

I've watched this twice and the 2nd time I suddenly realized how many cliches the 2 of them used. Besides all the cliche's, the love hate between them makes for good entertainment as they as they NEVER stop bickering or shut up the entire time even though they loathe each other never realizing how much they are alike.
