Boiling Point (2023)
I watch a lot of TV
Like, A LOT. Trust me when I say, this is the best thing on UK TV at the moment. It is stressful just watching it, but that's only because of how engaging it is. The pace and camera work make you feel like you are there in the kitchen, being pulled back and forth between tasks. It reminded me greatly of my own work experiences.
The cast are incredible and their characters interesting.
It is not important to watch the short or movie versions that predate this series, as it stands perfectly well on its own. However I would highly recommend doing so as they too are incredible, and would help you avoid writing reviews stating that this has copied a show the original concept predates by 3.5 years.
My only complaint, wanted more episodes!
The Devil's Hour (2022)
IGNORE NEGATIVE REVIEWS...
...From people whose idea of top quality tele is the Mrs Browns Boys Xmas special.
This is part supernatural, part sci fi, drama, thriller and even a bit of dark humour and is THE BEST THING I HAVE SEEN on TV in a LONG time! And I watch way too much TV!
The characters, actors, story absolutely everything about it is incredible and kept me guessing right up until the final seconds.
Hard to understand exactly what is happening at some points, but it is not a trick. They are not trying to confuse or bamboozle you for no reason. It all makes sense in the end, and is incredibly clever, and fascinating to watch.
I'm already looking forward to watching the series again as there will be countless plot points I notice this time that were just in the background the first time around.
Absolutely incredible. I don't normally wish for this when a show is this perfect, but I honestly wouldn't mind another season, although it is perfect as it is. 10/10.
Jurassic World Dominion (2022)
It's a shame to end the franchise like this
But here we are. 2.5hrs and feels much longer. No real interesting story or action sequences to get the film going. And possibly the least on screen dinosaur action out of all 6 films. I'd put it below JP2. 5/10.
Our House (2022)
Just... pointless.
As others have said, episode 1 was very good and left me intrigued as to where the story would go next. But it didn't go anywhere. All the drama and tension fizzled out over the next 2 episodes. By the time ep4 came on I was already done. Just as well as the ending was terrible too.
All in all, it felt like someone had a really good idea for the start of a story, and then was given the green light to make it before they'd actually figured out the rest of the plot.
Fear Street: 1994 (2021)
Wow!
Terrible.
Just. Absolutely terrible.
Rated 18 but surely aimed at 12 year olds.
Hell in the Heartland: What Happened to Ashley and Lauria (2019)
Watch ep1 then skip to ep4
Seriously. Save yourself 2hrs. Episode 1 is interesting and tells you all the background you need for the case. Episodes 2 and 3 do nothing but repeat the same conversations over and over. Episode 4 moves the case on.
For a fun game, keep track of how the two 'investigators' choose to sit whilst discussing the case with each other. At one point, one of them was knelt down behind the couch?!?
The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020)
I wasted 9hrs of my life so you don't have to...
Boring, slow, boring, horrible acting, boring and accents that are all over the place. Did I mention it's also very boring. The narrator has an accent that goes from Queen Mother to Northern Barmaid mid sentence.
You'll notice my review is all over the place, repeated, rambling and doesn't make much sense. It is a perfect tribute to this series.
It's also very, very boring.
