The Day After Tomorrow (2004)
Cheesy at some parts, but still entertaining
The Day After Tomorrow was actually quite entertaining. However, this movie had quite a few disgusting environmental undertones. I wont spoil anything for you, but the worst lines take place when that Dick Cheney-look-alike vice president is giving a pubic speech on the Weather Channel (like that would ever happen). However, eye-dazzling special effects make up for all of that. Overall, it was a decent film and worth a rental.

Shrek 2 (2004)
Funny, but not as good as the original.
With comedies being my favorite genre, I liked this one. However, the first one was way better than this was. I feel like the first one had a much better storyline. However, I will buy this when it comes to DVD as another addition to my
collection. Since I saw this about two months ago, I can't write a very long review.

The Cat in the Hat (2003)
nothing like the book
The Cat in the Hat is one of those movies that makes you wonder: What audience was this targeted to? The jokes are to raunchy for elementary age kids to get and the overall tackiness of the film drives everyone else mad. Unlike the big screen adaptation of The Grinch, there are so many parts that weren't in the book. Did Cat originally call a garden tool a "dirty hoe" or make an acronym for his car called S***? I didn't think so. The cat is also a real jerk to the kids. Parents with 3 year olds should not take kids to see this. And now that I think about it, no one should see it! Barbershop 2: Back in Business (2004)
It's funny, but not for everyone
I guess you could say that Barbershop 2 was a good movie. It had quite a few laughs and a good message. The plot is simple- a barbershop on the south side of Chicago that has been there for years might get put out if business when a new, snazzy, modern barbershop opens right across the street. However, people who aren't black may have a hard time understanding what the characters are saying, because they speak in heavy dialect. Being white, I had to listen more carefully than I usually do at movies. Cedric the Entertainer and Queen Latifah both do great performances. The movie over all wasn't too special, but I still recommend it. 5/10 stars
Big Fish (2003)
An excellent movie
Big Fish was an excellent movie. I came close to crying, which I rarely do at movies. The movie is kind of similar to Forrest Gump-only this time "Forrest" is a dying man and the "person on the bench" is his son. The dying man tells his life story, which is very make-believe, to his son, who does not seem to believe them. The film has awesome cinematography and acting and should be on your don't miss list. It has a good but somewhat predictable ending. It is a good family movie even hough it is rated PG-13. I highly recommend it. 8/10 stars
