Emancipation (2022)
Very emotional
For those who are curious, I do encourage to see the film in the theater. It tugs at my emotional strings to try to wrap my mind of how the slave owners and the like were so hateful. On the flip side of that - how much the then slaves had to endure to survive.
As to the choice of how it was filmed - black & white with spurts of color - my thoughts are that they wanted to carry over the bleakness of subject at hand. For me - the intent of this film was to emphasize the abuse the slave characters had to face prior to the main finally securing safety.
This film isn't about the choice to make it in technicolor or high definition - this film is about enduring and surviving their abusers.
People need to see this.
The Boulet Brothers' Dragula: Titans (2022)
IT'S HERE!!!!
Granted, this is only the first episode and so far, I've seen about fifteen minutes of the episode but still so very happy it's here. Been waiting awhile. And I can happily state -- those first fifteen minutes are not disappointing.
What's cool about the Titans series is that for the queens from season 1-3 - is you can see their real faces. I don't know about other folk that watch Dragula but for me - it's easier to connect with the competitors when you can see them behind the makeup.
Very happy that Shudder included the first season. It has a much better effect when one doesn't have wade through the commercials on YT.
Terry Bradshaw: Going Deep (2022)
A look inside
The show was very entertaining. I like that he is showing his vulnerability before and after his playing days. As a Steeler fan - most of the game flashbacks were fond memories of days of yore. While he might be suffering with depression - it seems that's getting more comfortable with himself as a person. There's one part of the show where an audience member spoke of how he suffers from depression, and he thanked Terry for sharing his story. I felt that was very heartwarming. So - if you have HBO -- take an hour out of your day to see a different side of Terry. It's worth it.
