Dunki (2023)
Cannot believe Rajkumar Hirani made this
I felt Rajkumar Hirani took a great subject of Dunki route and illegal immigration, but the execution and story was a dismay. It showed immigration is our birth right as English came to India unannounced.
After watching this movie you won't feel emotionally connected to any of the characters. If you compare to all of Hirani's previous movie this is a dud. All his previous were made from heart.
Thankfully didn't watch this movie in a theatre. Feel Bollywood needs to reinvent itself, otherwise gone ar the days people please will go to see these movies in theatre. Even if you give it a miss you won't miss much.
Jayeshbhai Jordaar (2022)
Movie doesnt know whether it needs to give a message or be a comedy
This movie is simply confused, whether it wants to give a social message or be funny. It felt like a guy from village came to Yashraj Studios and told the ordeal about malpractices in village and Yashraj made a movie on it.
It has so many absurds scenes, I really wonder how actors like Ranveer Singh, Boman Irani even agree doing it. Feel bad for the people who saw it in a movie hall. A good social message movie being depicted like this is a waste oppurtunity.
OK Jaanu (2017)
If you missed this movie, you haven't missed anything!!
OK, I rarely write movie reviews so often, but felt for this movie I had to. There is absolutely nothing to write about this movie except the good songs. The chemistry between the lead actors was pale. Dialogues were damn cheesy, the lead pair are talking for the first time on phone without even properly introduced and the are talking about kids, marriage n stuff. Like who does that without knowing each other. Except Nasrudeen Shah everyone seemed like Siri is saying its dialogues in Hindi.
Totally crap movie. Should have gone for Dangal again (saw it once). I feel movies made without passion end up like this. Feel Shradha Kapoor and Aditya Kapoor looked so immature throughout the movie and their conversations were so fake. Enough said, go at your own risk.
Shivaay (2016)
Had a potential to be a blockbuster, if they hired an actual scriptwriter
I wanted to like this movie. Heck wanted to love this movie since the time I had watched its trailer. Don't get me wrong, I loved the visual cinematography, action scenes and the songs in this movie. This movie had the potential to be a big blockbuster provided it had a good story.
Other big problem of this movie was I felt this movie was too long. They could have easily chopped off a good 30-45 minutes to reduce a bit of melodrama which I felt wasn't needed. In movie theater, I was feeling people were getting restless a good half an hour before the end of the movie. Felt acting wise Ajay Devgan has acted and directed well. But the character playing her daughter has overacted in certain scenes. Certain characters feel wasted though they had potential like Vir Das. All in all the only way you can watch this movie is because of the spectacular action scenes. Enough said.
Cloud Atlas (2012)
Worst Movie I saw in a Theatre, actually I left mid way
Saw the IMDb ratings for it, above 8. Great stars Tom hanks, Halle Berry, Hugh Grant, expected it to be great. Also saw the director have directed the famous Matrix series whom I am really fond of. Went it with a couple of friends. 1 hour into the movie, one of my friend fell asleep. Can't blame him. Wasn't sure what to expect from this movie.
The worst thing was it had a couple of parallel stories with the same set of actors. Couldn't get what is the connection between these movies. Also it had a constant switching between this parallel stores every 15-20 minutes making it more difficult to focus on one. This movie was so confusing and got on my nerves, we had to leave it mid way. Believe me don't waste your time
It Follows (2014)
Its a theme Based horror movie, the 'It' is a subject of debate
To start off, I had huge expectations of the movie. Looking at the IMDb ratings and being a horror fan I was expecting this movie to be really good.
In the movie the central character is being followed by a spirit, some jinxed ghost character, etc you can call it "It" after her boyfriend passes it to her after sex. He tells her if the "It" reaches you it will kill her and then kill him. The only way she can avoid this is by passing it on to someone else, obviously by having sex with someone else. I felt the background score really deserves an applause. I can't really rate this movie really high as it creates tension in some scenes but not till end of the movie. Would prefer watching movies like Sinister again any day over this.
Krrish 3 (2013)
Krrish 3 is a better movie than what people are reading in reviews
I watched this movie today, and was considering should I watch this movie or not after reading a string of bad reviews. Thankfully I watched the movie.
I will mention the Pros and Cons of the movies:
Pros: 1. Hrithik Roshan: He is the USP of the movie no doubt. From his perfectly toned body. To his perfect face expressions. Don't forget he is playing both an elderly man and the Superhero.
2. Special Effects: I heard the special effects are very childish and all. I don't say they are flawless, but they are not bad either.
3. Kangna Ranauts Acting: Can't believe I am writing this but Kangna has done justice to her role. For the first time I felt she has actually acted well.
Cons:
1. Music: There are 3 songs in this movie. I didn't feel the songs are good. They could have been much better, I think Rakesh Roshan should not hire Rajesh Roshan any more.
2. Copying of characters from Hollywood: If you have seen X-Men series you will definitely be able to see a resemblance to some of the characters.
All said, I would say it is way better than RA.One and The amazing SpiderMan. No idea why people are saying its not good.
The Sixth Sense (1999)
One of the best in horror business!!
I would say The Sixth Sense in one of the best Horror movies ever made without trying to use a lot of special effects. MNS really tries to create tension in your mind through some mind-boggling scenes that what would happen next.
Bruce Willis has been shown as a child psychologist who has recently won an award and is celebrating with his wife at the beginning. He meets Haley Joel Osment who is a kid who believes he sees dead people walking and trying to communicate with him. At the end of the movie a big suspense is revealed making the viewer shocked. Watch this movie for a brilliant mix of suspense and horror.
The Village (2004)
The village was marketed wrongly but is a good suspense film
I saw this movie recently (2013). Was a big fan of The Sixth Sense, and thought this film is a horror movie. Didn't like Signs much, found Unbreakable an average movie. But the trailer of The Village got me interested. Believe me friends, The Village isn't what you are expecting it to be.
If you are going to watch this movie thinking its a horror movie, don't bother. The first 20 minutes have too many characters and is boring, but after that there is a nice setting up of story. The village is based on a 1900's era. The villagers in the film have a pact with creatures in the woods that they would respect each others boundary and won't harm each other till they cross it. Red colour is the bad colour which is not supposed to be taken inside the village as it attracts the creature. I would say both Joaquin Phoenix and Ivy Walker have acted brilliantly in their respective roles. They are in love, and Joaquin gets injured by a person who loves Ivy. Ivy has been shown as a blind girl. Now she must go to the Town through the woods to bring medicine for Joaquin.
As all MNS movies there are a few brilliant twists before Ivy is supposed to go to The town, while in the woods and after she reaches the town. I would say it is a well made movie. And a very under-rated suspense movie.
