Great Adventure! Why NOT ON VIDEO???
18 September 2004
I remember this exciting film,The Secret of The Incas, so well ! saw as a a child in theatre...maybe have seen once or twice on commercial TV..haven't seen in years !! Why wasn't this film released on VHS or DVD? There are bootlegs available yes.. with scenes deleted.. but I want the original Uncut only!! I have some music from film recorded by the phenomenal Peruvian Singer featured in film, Yma Sumac.. but no video!!This film we all know was the precursor to Raiders of the Lost Ark & other films of that genre..Spielberg had to be influenced by this movie..Lets get it released on Video, please !!

Great neo-realist film...Rosselinni a great director!!
11 September 2004
Warning: Spoilers
Director of "Open City", and "Paisan" and the less successful but interesting" Stromboli", "Germania Anne Zero" , Roberto Rossellini stands up with the best neo realist films from Italy in the late 1940s and ever! Thanks to TCM viewed, this morning couldn't stop watching..So well directed! and photographed.depicting a young boys fight for survival in post war Germany.. a film so ahead of its time..themes which are still somewhat controversial..today..were depicted here, if only hinted..teenage prostitution, pedophilia (the teacher- boy relationship) strongly suggested but handled very discreetly and tastefully! The family relationships, poverty, the burden of the ailing parent on the children..and the eventual patricide, and suicide makes this film fascinating, shockingly bold, and way ahead of its time (1948)..cast was made of non professionals..but they gave amazing performances..& Rossellini remains one of the best Italian directors or directors, in general, of all time!!I believe this film

Germania Anne Zero will gain popularity and be listed amongst the greatest films of all time!! Don't Miss It !!

De-Lovely (2004)

wonderful Music ! Great Cast!
5 August 2004
Today was a cool rainy summer day in NJ (not a day for outdoor activities) perfect day for a film..I chose DeLovely not playing everywhere had to search to find a theatre within reasonable distance..The short drive was worth it What a film ! Thoroughly enjoyed! Cole Porters songs will always remain the classiest most elegant ever! Love these songs "Night & Day" In The Still Of The Night" "Anything Goes" "Begin the Beguine "So In Love" etc. wonderful.. no composer today can compare..(OK Sondheim but his music is very theatrical you don't come out humming Sondheim most of time)..Most songs were performed by guest stars, Alanis Morrisette, Sheryl Crow, Elvis Costello,Diana Krall,Natalie Cole & most impressively (for me)Vivian Green doing a memorable job on "Love For Sale" (i never heard of her before, stayed to watch credits to make sure i got her name..shes excellent) All the others are wonderful also..Kevin Kline gives a wonderful performance as Porter, as does beautiful, Ashley Judd as wife, Linda. & also effective is Jonathyn Price as "death" Some times a bit confusing and you're not always certain in some scenes whether to laugh or to cry..but beautifully done.. and nicely directed by Winkler.. So go see please..word of mouth has been good!! but theatre was practically empty @ 20 people early matinée today..Spread the word,,DeLovely is a wonderful movie going experience..Don't Miss It !!you come out humming not one song , but the entire magical Cole Porter score !!
