Gulmohar (2023)
Majestic
Wow. Mujhe yaad nai last time mene kab itni achi bollywood movie dekhi thi. After watching Kapoor and Sons I was sure that no one can make a family drama that intense and grossing but Rahul Chittela et al have proved me wrong. And what a fine work by each and every actor. The story just flowed smoothly like a fine scotch and I am high right now. High on family feels. Thank you Mr Chittela. Although goes without saying how adept Manoj ji is but somehow I felt this was a very very special performance by him. He has done some really great movies and this will be right up there and might as well be a cut above.
Dil Bekaraar (2021)
New And Refreshing
The plot definitely thickens with this one. They could have named it better. But it is definitely fresh and new. Would recommend for sure. In current times when action, crime, thriller are the ongoing genre for web series, this one is laid back, comic, romantic and with a decent story as well. Must watch.

CAT (2022)
Netflix's answer to Prime's Mirzapur
Great story. And what a marvelous job by each and every actor. Writer and director have managed to capture Punjab in its raw character. I don't remember the last time when I saw such a good mainstream content based on Punjab. Absolutely phenomenal..eagerly waiting for the next season.
Repeating below because of character limit:

Kabir Singh (2019)
Dynamite
First things first, if you are craving for a movie with a social message or you take cues from Bollywood movies to test your senses of morality then this movie IS NOT FOR YOU. Otherwise, Kabir Singh is a dynamite of a movie with Shahid in his primest ever. The movie is a troubled love story (go watch the trailer if you havent) of a hot headed male and an almost mute girl. First half is about how he 'wooes' her in the college days and breaks several noses and faces in the pursuit. Watch out for some hillarious 'senior junior' drama and action packed street fight which looks so surreal with the thunderous background music. Second half is the post breakup drama which is wonderfully directed and fully ruled by Shahid's powerful performance. Shahid has certainly pushed the limits with this one. Go watch Kabir Singh if you are looking for something new, its totally worth a watch!!
House of Cards: Chapter 73 (2018)
Worst culimination of one of the greatest show ever
Can't help but imagine that the ending was actually metaphorical. Dieing Doug is the fanatic fanbase of the show and Clair killing is the unfortunate incident which wrote the obituary of the show a year ago. Can't blame Robin (she did an amazing job), its the production who we should blame. It seems they just wanted to get done with the damn thing. Sad, nothing about the final season was right. Everything just collapsed, like a house of cards...
Aligarh (2015)
Aligarh is a sad bitter truth about not only India but also the world
In a courtroom scene where the lawyer of Dr. Siras (played by Manoj Vajpayee) presents an argument about homosexuality, he argues that, it (the sexual preference) is same as the choice of being a vegetarian. While the choice is absolutely yours, you don't and should not get offended by what others choose. Though (it may seem), the analogy is astronomically simple, its all that there is to the argument. Getting back to the movie, it is a cinematic marvel presented by Hansal Mehta. Although the concept of homosexuality still falls in minority category in Bollywood, the movie itself doesn't need that extra cushion to succeed.
Manoj Vajpayee did a tremendous job as Dr. Sirus. He seemed to struggle a bit in the initial scenes but picked up the character thereafter. He only moved north from there and reached the peaked in his last scene where he is talking on phone to probably his only real friend at that time, the reporter (played by Rajkummar). He has a very supernatural feeling about what's going to happen while talking to his friend, and he doesn't miss the chance to compliment him for not judging him.
The movie moves in two different paces. Dr. Siras, a senior citizen, takes a few seconds to stretch out the chair, a few more while negotiating with the middleman. Hansal has done justice to the protagonist and screened most of those seconds. The other part of the pace comes from Rajkummar, who plays the urban reporter, belonging to a generation saying 'cool' and 'awesome' more often than breathing.
Rajkummar did a fair job as a reporter. The Mehta Rajkummar duo seems to have worked again with previous good movies being city lights and Shahid. The character of Rajkummar doesn't seem to have enough of the professor. He, observing Dr. Siras beyond his sexual preferences, is fully engrossed and doesn't seem to have enough of Dr. Siras.
Although crafted nicely, it's still not a perfect piece from Hansal. For example, the landlord daadi seemed a bit inexpressive in most of the scenes. I can only imagine how daadi from Vicky Donor would have played this. Surprise package of the movie, to whom Sirus writes the apology letter in the beginning, was a treat to watch. I wish if he could have been given more screen time.
Overall, it's a wonderful movie to watch if you like movies with some 'meat'. I would not recommend this if you are tired of your week's work and just want a weekend getaway.
