THIS IS WHAT SUPERB LOOKS LIKE!
24 February 2024
Take four veteran incredible equally talented actors - Sam Waterston, Martin Sheen, Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda and give them scripts that offer opportunities to 'be' deeply honest as they explore their new lives and relationships in a way that is rare in a sitcom. After one dinner announcement changes all of their lives in a most unexpected way. The balance between pain and humour is perfect. Now add the 4 adult children each with their own personalities and you see how they too navigate relationships. Fonda and Tomlin are pure magical gold. Waterston and Martin bring such an honesty to their relationship. They too are gold!! I'm on my third round watching this series and still laugh out loud and feel all the feels!!

Delightfully inspiring and fun!!
27 January 2024
There is so much about this movie that I loved. The relationships between mother/daughter, aunt/niece girlfriends (all shapes and personalities) and a wonderful inclusion of drag queens. It's about being 'seen'. Add the big bonus of Dolly Parton songs throughout and you have entertainment! We watch Willadean aka "Dumplin'" grow as she fights the standard of beauty and discovers a lot about courage. Fabulous performances by all - Jennifer Aniston as always and Danielle Macdonald as Willadean. Danielle's performance is strong and vulnerable. The best combination. Highly recommend this inspiring film.

Unexpected. I loved it!!
15 January 2024
After reading the reviews and the below 5 star rating, I almost didn't watch this. I'm sure glad I did. It is definitely not a romantic comedy. It is a deep probe into the complicated thing we call relationships. The things we don't say. The assumptions we make which we believe to be truth and then sadly they impact the choices we make. My hope to at least 'partly like' the film, shifted to a fascination and appreciation of the script ad the performances. Staying with this film uncovered surprise after surprise. I'm sorry they call it a comedy because people will go in with different expectations. I loved this film.

Hits all the marks!!
9 January 2024
I came upon this while scrolling Netflix and watched all 8 episodes the same day. All performances are fabulous. Michelle Keegan is outstanding in this role. She shines as the professional helicopter pilot, widow, mother and then investigator of her sister and husbands death. She offers the perfect balance between kick-ass strength and vulnerability. The series moves quickly and kept me intrigued the entire time. Special mention to Adeel Akhtar as the policeman who is investigating the deaths. I have not read the book related to this series (as many reviewers compared it to). I can only say I highly recommend.

Masterful performances all around.
17 December 2023
This film is about the repercussions of life choices made both decades ago and in the present. The brilliant capture of life in this small Irish village had me smiling (having visited small villages in Ireland many times). Family relationships, friendships and the long suffering agony that comes from holding on to grief and guilt is at the core of this film. To see Cathy Bates, Maggie Smith and Laura Linney together is a master class in the art of storytelling. The subtle dropping of past life circumstances kept me intrigued as truths are finally exposed. The supporting cast are all fabulous - Agnes O'Casey is brilliant as Dolly. I will watch this a second time because I love the way this story unfolded.

A Special Story
15 December 2023
I am a Hallmark fan and rate them accordingly. Every once in a while Hallmark surprises and this is one of those times. Absolutely wonderful. A superb cast (Krystal Joy Brown, Tina Lifford and Juan Riedinger) and an endearing, intriguing story. Lovely to see Phylicia Rashad too. We meet 4 very different people stranded at the diner and their unique stories unfold. Assumptions are tested. A mystery is solved. Some fabulous music and singing (Krystal Joy Brown) and, of course, a happy ending. This one is somewhat unexpected and definitely a must watch for the Christmas season. Thank you Hallmark.

Thank you Hallmark!!
13 November 2023
Full disclosure - I rate Hallmark films against other Hallmark filmsand this one is a definite 9. The love story is second to the main story. All the traditional Christmas schmultz is still there but the 'mystery' is the main focus. Miranda is hoping to solve the lifelong mystery of who her father is after she finds a few clues in an old suitcase of her mother's that surfaces decades after her mother's death. I also love that the romantic relationship departed from the traditional pattern of girl meets boy, girl doesn't like boy, then bam they realize they are in love. So much to love about this movie and Wendy Mallick is the prize at the end. Bravo.

Slow Burn? Nope, The pace kept me on the edge of my seat. Fantastic!!!!
20 September 2023
I was captured from the very beginning. I don't understand the reviews about 'irritating teenager played by Angourie Rice I thought she was a perfect portrayal of a young girl in her circumstances. Her subtle shift in the relationship with her stepmother was not just believable, it was understated and that made my empathy for her grow. At the end of every episode I wanted more. The flashbacks added to the unfolding story. Jennifer Garner's performance is flawless. The rest of the cast all wonderful. I'm happy I didn't let the reviews stop me from watching. Give it a watch and decide for yourself. I know I'm glad I did. Loved it!!!

Raw Honest Courageous Awe Inspiring. Don't Miss This.
24 May 2023
It took me a long time to think about this review title. It deserves to honour just how phenomenal this movie/documentary is. Using clips from his roller coaster ride life interspersed with his own telling of his story, this movie is absolutely brilliant. It's raw. It's brutally honest. And the courage sits within it's raw brutally honest telling. Michael lets us in. He hides nothing. We see his struggling to speak, to walk, to be 'still'. I have always been a fan of Michael J. Fox. His books have moved me and this movie now allows me to see, to feel and have even greater insight in to the possibilities of what humans with deep love and integrity are capable of. I learned. I felt. I am in awe of you Mr. Michael J. Fox and of your family. Thank you for honouring us with this movie.

Delightful Senior Romantic Comedy
25 March 2023
With a powerhouse cast, I thoroughly enjoyed this film. It fills all the criteria for a light romantic comedy. It's a heartwarming ride. Favourite leads Ellen Burstyn, Ann Margaret, Jane Curtin, James Caan and Loretta Devine all have their moments. While reality for many seniors homes may not be portrayed, this is a movie about the possibilities of life in those senior years. The supporting cast is fabulous! Christopher Lloyd, Alex Mapa and French Stewart offer much of the comedy and fun. If you want a light romp with strong performances and a group of seniors that range from independent to frisky to nasty, then Queen Bees will fill that need.

I SO WANTED TO LIKE THIS MOVIE!
11 February 2023
After reading the reviews, I still decided to check it out. As a huge fan of so many in the cast, I was extremely disappointed. "How could so many of these actors I admire, make a poor choice on a script so let's give it chance." The possibilities for a good film were there - incredible cast (Among them Toni Collette and Kathleen Turner being favourites of mine), and a fun script premise. But nothing worked for me. I found the script very crass versus funny. The characters felt one dimensional and that became annoying. I wish they could have a do over - same cast (well, mostly), same premise, different script.

Silly? Yes! Fun? Yes!
3 February 2023
I gave this an 8 because the imdb rating needed a boost. I always check a rating before I watch a movie and almost didn't bother with this one. It IS a silly movie. And it IS fun and enjoyable! Channing Tatum's comedic moves were a highlight for me. Especially in the scenes with Brad Pitt. I actually rewound and watched those scenes over again. I'm a huge fan of Sandra Bullock and like that she chooses both serious and silly films. If you want a light, fun romp of a movie, then I say this fits the bill. It moves along nicely and the scenery is also quite spectacular. Special mention also to Da Vine Joy Randolph and Oscar Nunez.

A 9 just for the absolute CRAZINESS!!!!
30 January 2023
Like crazy!? Need a brain break!? This film is for you. I loved it! I almost didn't watch this because of the bad reviews. I'm so glad I chose to give it a try - the cast is what drew me in. Jennifer Lopez, Josh Duhamel, the brilliant Jennifer Coolidge and Cheech!!! Lenny Kravitz didn't disappoint either. The reviews are right in that it is totally insane and 'dumb' which is sometimes just what you need for a brain break. It's the insanity and unexpected twist that kept me watching. It doesn't need to 'fit' in to a category. It's simply a wild fun ride. Lopez and Duhamel sizzled. Maybe not for everyone, but it sure fit the bill for me.

Outstanding important film
15 January 2023
I read one review that felt this film was depressing. Interestingly, I found it the opposite. I found it encouraging and even somewhat uplifting because of the fight and determination that Susette Kelo (the real life woman who we meet at the end of the film who inspired the story). It opens eyes to political and big corporate deceit. It opens eyes to how our voices can be heard and the importance of the fight. This film is not about being entertained as much as it is an important one to watch. The performance are also outstanding. Not overly dramatized. Honest and to the point. Highly recommended.

I'm not a sci-fi fan....but THIS!? Wow.
12 January 2023
Full disclosure. I never watch science fiction and have never been a fan. I only watched this because of the hype AND I am a huge fan of Michelle Yeoh and Jamie Lee Curtis. Another honesty - IF I'd tried to watch it before the Golden Globes, I 'might' have turned it off half hour in. A 'what the bleep is this?' moment. I'm so gad I stuck with it (and may watch it again to see the nuances I missed first time round). Be prepared to go on a wildly frenetic, confusing, mind-boggling ride. And be prepared to also have your own inner thoughts challenged and poked. What an incredible ride. What an incredible insight opportunity in to your own life. Bravo to all the actors, the writers, director and the phenomenal editing.

For the love of a Heart!
26 December 2022
Emma Thompson, thank you for this most magical, enchanting story. It was a surprise and my hope is that more people experience it. It is to be experienced. In a world of predicable Christmas stories, this one stands out as unique and truly heart warming. Rarely does a film have my jaw drop and tears flow at the same time and this one did both. Exceptional performances by Emelia Clarke, Michelle Yeoh and Henry Golding. And Emma Thompson as Katarina's mother - what a treat! Add a strong supporting cast to this film and you have story-telling at it's best. Bravo to all. Look uo. See it. Experience it.

It's THEIR story!
24 December 2022
I enjoyed this from beginning to end. Reviewing this, it's about how well it was put together, edited and presented. Did it keep me interested? Yes. Was I 'entertained'? Yes. Did I learn some things? Yes. Regardless of how I feel about the people involved (from many sides of the assumptive stories out there - what is truth/lies?), I focussed on the people telling their truth. Is it the whole truth? Of course not BUT it is their truth. Watching without judgement is the key, otherwise it's easy to dismiss and what a shame. We don't have to like, love or hate Meghan and Harry. It's simply taking in their story and I felt that was done extremely well.

A feel good fun romp!!
24 December 2022
A feel good fun romp with exceptional performances and lots of laughs. Michael Urie and Philemon Chambers have an easy sizzling chemistry - the kind that exists when a nurtured friendship and love co-exist. Then add the incredible talents of Jennifer Coolidge, Kathy Najimy, Barry Bostwick, Luke McFarlane and Jennifer Robertson as family and one wannabe lover and you have a movie that is easy to immerse yourself in. If you like a good fun romp and feel good movie, then I highly recommend this one. And the children's play is an added bonus for any parent who has sat in the audience watching your child perform on stage!

One of the better Hallmark!!
28 November 2022
Full disclosure. I rate Hallmark movies based on other Hallmark movies. I always check the IMDB for ratings before I watch a movie and count on others ratings to see if it is worth my time. SO having that disclosure out, this one is very good! The storyline is unique and the chemistry between the leads sizzles. Add the talented supporting cast and you have a most enjoyable movie. Time well spent and it will life your spirits. Now also add some delightful music. It has everything you need for a family Christmas movie. The focus on family and love and dealing with a family member no longer with us. Highly recommend!

The Mistletoe Promise (2016 TV Movie)

A Delightful Story!!
21 November 2022
The highlight of this movie are the performances. Luke McFarlane and Jaime King (the leads) are both fantastic and their chemistry sizzles. All the supporting cast shine too. It's a story of people with baggage who have a hard time with Christmas but done in such an honest way versus morose and low. Lots of fun along the way make it very enjoyable to watch. Of course as soon as the couple meet and sign the Mistleltoe Promise legal contract, you can forecast the ending. Just go along for the delightful ride and, in my opinion, you won't be disappointed - well, if you are a Hallmark fan, which I am.

Three Wise Men and a Baby (2022 TV Movie)

AN ABSOLUTE DELIGHT!
20 November 2022
Full disclosure, I am a big fan of Christmas movies and most I would rate between 5 and 7. This one!!! It is special. The cast is superb - every one. Special mention to anyone who saw the original Three Men and a Baby, Margaret Colin played Tom Selleck's girlfriend (I recognized her also from The Edge of Night). She is the mom to 3 grown sons who 'attempt' to care for a baby left at the firehouse specifically for one of the men. Each brother has his own other storyline. This movie is delightful, funny, heart-warming and worth watching. The Nutcracker dance the men to together is priceless! Highly recommend.

A definite Hallmark Must See!
7 November 2022
When I review Hallmark, I rate based on other Hallmark shows I've seen because that's what I hope for when I check the IMDB rating before I decide to watch a movie. I already know what to 'sort of' expect. This one is different!! Ghosts of Christmas Always is a definite must see. The script is so unique taking us on a 'sorta familiar' ride but then the twists and turns. The number of times I said "Wait a minute!?" and couldn't wait to see where the story was going to go next. The performances all deserves high accolades with a wonderful blend of heart and humour. AND of course Christmas magic. I loved this one! Bravo Hallmark.

Alison Sweeney always shines and Marlo Thomas is magical!
5 November 2022
What do you really need for an enjoyable Hallmark Christmas movie? For me, it's a story that keeps me engaged, good performances and, oh yes, a little magic. That's why I choose Hallmark. I am a huge Alison Sweeney fan. Her performances are flawless and the chemistry between her and Luke Macfarlane is like watching teenagers navigate the beginning of a relationship. Now add Marlo Thomas. Delightful and whimsical. Her portrayal of Alison's mom and relationship with Macfarlane's character is where the magic shows up. And the daughter (moving the characters in her gramma's Christmas village) is the thread that ties them all together. Very enjoyable.

The Christmas Heart (2012 TV Movie)

I loved this movie!
27 October 2022
This is not your typical Hallmark Christmas movie (although I am a fan of Hallmark) I really enjoyed it. The storyline and the script are very good following 2 different 'life' stories before converging. The performances all around fantastic. I'm a big fan of Teri Polo (mother of the boy who needs the heart) and Tess Harper and they didn't disappoint. The topic of organ donations is a highlight and was handled extremely well. We hear from all sides - the donor's mother, the 15 year old boy who will die without receiving a new heart and the medical professionals. This movie is worth a watch. Well done Hallmark.

Delightful fun!!!
12 October 2022
This show is absolutely fabulously fun! I love the way the story is told. Very engaging script writing. It is both humorous and heart-warming. The actors are all fantastic and they take us on a ride that is simply delightful!! If you want a show that relieves you of stress and shoot em ups, if you want to just have some fun, I highly recommend this! Added bonus is you can experience some of the Mexican culture and scenery - both from the resort and the homes of the resort workers. The Acapulco resort experience is also a highlight. Go on this fun ride with Maximus as he tells his nephew the story of his life so far. I can't wait for season 2.
