Jekyll Island (1998)
One of my All-Time Favorites
This is by far one of the best movies I have ever seen. Be warned though, it is very much a "b movie" and there are moments in which that fact is very obvious. This, however, cannot distract from the excellent plot, fantastic acting, and beautiful island scenery. If you like "who-dun-it?" type mysteries, you will love this. Although in all honesty you know who is behind it the entire movie, but it still has that kind of a feel about it. You can't help but fall in love with the characters and right away I was wishing for a sequel. Something in the final scene almost makes it seem as though they might at some point make one. If any producers out there read this, PLEASE make one!!!!!!! I would absolutely buy it and I know several of my friends who would as well. This is truly a wonderful movie that everyone should see!
Bride & Prejudice (2004)
could have been much better
I think this was overall a very good movie, however I saw several small flaws and one big one. I believe the most important problem with the film is that we go through the entire film and neither couple ever kiss! I mean come on, we get to the end of the movie and they approach each other and he just hugs her! Give me a break! The other problems I spotted included the overall cheesy undertone of the film as well as the fact that in this version, despite lacking table manners etc. Mr. Kohli (the cousin who wants to marry Lalita) seems to not be that bad of a guy, whereas in the original pride and prejudice he was a horrible person. Also in the original version, Charlotte was considered very plain and in this version their version of the character was considered pretty. I did, however, find the number entitled "no life without wife" very entertaining.
The Good Girl (2002)
Without doubt one of the 5 worst movies ever made
This was the most depressing and slightly sickening movies I've ever had to sit through. The movie started off bad and each and every plot twist just served to make the movie WORSE. As I left the theatre my only thought was "Well, thats 2 hours of my life I'll never get back!" It had absolutely no redeeming qualities save the fact that Jake Gyllenhaal is pleasant to look at (when his character wasn't being psychotic!) Don't waste your money! (even if you can see it on TV for free, don't waste your TIME!) I seriously hope the movie big shots read this and will start putting out movies where when you leave the theatre you feel BETTER then when you went into the theatre, not WORSE.
Pride & Prejudice (2005)
overall very good, however the director shouldn't have taken so many liberties with this true classic
Very good considering the fact that it would be physically impossible to do real justice to what is easily one of the greatest literary masterpieces of all time. My biggest complaint was the fact that the director seems to have taken it upon himself to alter the work of the great Jane Austin. The prime example is in the personality of Mrs. Bennet, who in the book is a rather unpleasant, superficial sort of woman and who in the movie (while keeping with the original personality for much of the film) is given several moments in which she comes off as a down to earth and overall entirely tolerable sort of person. I would have preferred that in this and several other aspects the director had stayed true to the original work.
