12th Fail (2023)
Movie of the Decade!!!
I couldn't control my tears, this is such an inspiring film. Vikrant Massey! Wow.
Our nation really needs to make such more films which will have a lasting impact in the minds of all generations.
The movie touches these delicate topics of bribery, corruption, politics and it's also about hardwork, grit, love, tenacity and being a good Samaritan.
Most of us have reached where we are because of the people in our lives, who endlessly support us
When life gives you lemons, you make a lemonade. We all understand the cliched phrase but a very few of us actually do it.
Beautiful work done by the people behind the screen.
Bandish Bandits (2020)
First of its kind!...Absolute power packed performances
I started to watch this series because of Shankar Mahadevan - being the composer and music director. I did not expect such outstanding performances from the cast of the show. Absolute power packed performances deserving all attention and praise. India is rich in every aspect - Its traditions, humanity and love amongst people, festivals, heritage, archaeology, old monuments and the most important of all - MUSIC which binds all of it. No other country has such range of music instruments and so many kinds of music forms. The last episode of the series reminded me of Katyar Kaljat Ghusali movie where Shankar Mahadevan has composed and recomposed all the songs. I don't think there has been any musical series in Hindi before. We should have more such musical series where the web series generation understands more about real classical music.
Bala (2019)
Ayushmann continues to charm the audience with yet another one
Very relatable subject with people having similar situations faced in their lives. Bala is a story of a person who used to be a style hero in his school days later turning out to be hairless in his mid 20's. Desperately, he tries all possible solutions to save himself from being bald.
Loved other characters from the film - Latika, Pari and the families. 10 on 10 for the performances, screenplay and dialogues.
Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019)
Wow! Couldn't have been better! Absolute Bravery and Brilliance! We salute Indian Army!
After the buzz of "how's the josh" I desperately wanted to watch URI. Our soldiers live a tough life. How difficult it is to leave your family and go fight for the nation. Indian Army- We are proud of you. The film was absolutely gripping and what a delivery from the protagonist. I think this is the first wartime film that Bollywood has made which is stupendously brilliant. Words like "New India" indeed defines the way things will be moving in the nation hereon. India will always be powerful when it comes to war. Patriotic lovers will have a ball in the theaters.
Bohemian Rhapsody (2018)
Watch The fabulous journey of QUEEN and a mind blowing performance of Rami Malek.
Biographic films are always special but not every film is created very well. Rami Malek has outperformed all his previous performances and done a mind blowing job being Freddie. The body language was just perfect. He deserves awards and recognition for "Bohemian Rhapsody." Rami Malek will be remembered for this one.
A must see film for music lovers and Queen fans. You will be mind blown wanting to know more about the real Freddie, his persona, his early life, relationships and of course his love for music. I feel Freddie was more of a performer than a mere lead singer.
Talking about the film, it is never easy to capture the entire life of a legend and bundle and showcase in 120 odd minutes. But the film touches all important events of Freddie's life. Had the childhood and family scenes been added, the film could have been lengthy.
This film deserves more than just an oscar.
Remembering Freddie's Quotes:
"I love the fact that I can make people happy in any form. Even if it's just an hour of their lives, if I can make them feel lucky or make them feel good, or bring a smile to a sour face, that to me is worthwhile."
"You can be anything you want to be, just turn yourself into anything you think that you could ever be."
Hacksaw Ridge (2016)
Saving 75 Lives out there on the war field is nothing less than a miracle.
Saving 75 Lives out there on the war field is nothing less than a miracle.
Another brilliant biopic of 2016.
Desmond Doss had a belief of non violence and he sticks to it even after getting into the US army, serving for the nation. Its no less than a heroic tale of an Army Man who refused to kill on the war field and instead chose to save. Desmond has a troubled childhood getting beaten by his father every day and his father was an ex army drunkard who used to beat his sons and wife. Desmond decides to join Army and serve his nation being a medic. He is bullied and beaten in the Army by other men but he doesn't give up...shows courage and tenaciously stays
Lion (2016)
Its a one in a Million Stories!
I had only heard about Lion being nominated for Oscars and it made me curious to see the plot of the movie.
I believe one should really not read anything from the movie beforehand and enjoy it till the last scene making the story and climax exciting.
Well, the epitome of the story is that it is a real one. The movie is divided in two parts: Part I - Saroo, A 5 year old kid living with his mom, a laborer who earns livelihood by picking and sorting stones on construction sites and his elder brother. Saroo is lost in a small village in India and then he finds himself a ton miles away in Calcutta and remembers just the name of his place where he dwelled. He spends few days on the road before going to the police station when a gentleman notices that he is lost and takes him there.
Part II - A Tasmanian couple adopts Saroo and another Indian kid and they live together. After 25 years, Saroo is set out on a mission to find his real family in his hometown in India. He flies to India and finds him mom alive and living in the same vicinity. His elder brother is found out to be killed by the train at the same night when Saroo was lost.
This movie has powerful emotions to connect with the audience. The performances by Sunny Pawar, Dev Patel and Nicole Kidman is exceptional.
"Like Saroo, there are thousands of kids who are lost in India every single day. Some are forced into prostitution, while some are forced to beg. It is a real pity that kids in the age of playing and studying, have to undergo this pain and cruelty. Lion made me remember Slumdog Millionaire where kids are tortured and forced into begging business and other stuff. All this is real in India and is heart wrenching.
Sully (2016)
Another impressive performance by Tom Hanks
I was keen to watch the film-Sully as its based on biography and no one would have done better than Tom Hanks as Sully.
Imagine the situation where the engines are broken and what would have been the fate of the passengers and the crew if the pilot would have delayed the decision of landing the plane into the river. All the lives were at stake and still he pulled something very unusual and miraculous. The sound of the film is terrific.
Tom Hanks has been excellent again as he balances those emotions with subtlety and grace. Tom did it in the film- Captain Phillips and now again...an outstanding performance.
This is the best film of 2016 so far. Top Notch work by Client Eastwood. There was no additional drama or irrelevant scenes in the film
Moonlight (2016)
Nominated for 8 and won 3 Oscars! Its a Joke!
Hard to expect anything good from the film. It is just another film where You don't understand the crux of the story till the last moment- why was it even nominated for the Oscars! The movie has 3 time periods, childhood, adolescence and youth. The protagonist is a very ordinary character of just another Afro-American boy who is raised by a drug-addicted mother. Nothing special in his story which would make the story interesting and there is no curiosity in the viewers minds about what is going to happen in the next scene. He is neglected by everyone in his school and his colony and is bullied every time. The role which won Best Actor for Supporting Role - Juan is himself a drug dealer and is seen to guide the little boy - Chiron in the film. Its a slow and sluggish film where I was waiting for it to end. I watched this film because of its hype of winning Oscar Awards and totally wasted my time. There is absolutely nothing significant in this film. There are brilliant actors and films out there and it keeps me perplexed, why this film won over them. I am crestfallen and dispirited by Moonlight's win over others. Indisputably, its an overrated film with undeserved awards!
Sultan (2016)
Never thought 'Sultan' will become one of my fav movies.
I am not a Salman Khan Fan but this film is excellent because its about emotions, strength and being tenacious. Courage is to fail and get back again to fight. Its about keeping your spirit alive for whatsoever the reason is."Sultan" is an Indian romantic sports-drama film. Its a typical Bollywood movie much different to AAmir Khan's Danga. The movie should not have had so many songs which makes the movie lengthy. Never thought Sultan will become one of my fav movies. "Khoon mein tere mitti Mitti mein tera khoon Khoon mein tere mitti Mitti mein tera khoon"
"Upar Allah niche dharti Beech mein tera junoon" are my favorite lines from the film. Films about Fighting always has takeaways. Here there are many.
Dangal (2016)
Watch Dangal For Aamir Khan and the Phogat Girls Performances!!!
Never seen the audience rising during any movie for the anthem... A truly inspiring film by Aamir Khan. Both actors playing Geeta and Babita were exceptional, so were the younger ones. Dangal is a film where Mahavir Phogawat, a national champion, who gives up on his dream to win gold medal for India because of his poverty. He wants his son to be a wrestler, but his every time he becomes the father, its a girl. There's one incident where he realizes that his girls can make his dream come true and starts their training to make them wrestlers. Brilliant work by Nitesh Tiwari, Pritam, Amitabh Bhattacharya and the cast. The movie also throws light on the typical small town mentality people of how they see a girl and the unwelcoming of females in sports like wrestling. An outstanding performance by Aamir Khan- A true perfectionist who transformed his body the way he wanted to be pictured. When you put your blood and sweat in the training, the hard work and discipline pays off for you to become a winner!
Me Before You (2016)
Heart Breaking!
The movie talks loud about the subtle love we feel with each other's company, the way we get close to someone in no time and we end up with the fondness of the person. Well, the film reminds me of Guzaarish, a Bollywood film starred by Aishwariya Rai and Hrithik Roshan. The movie is based on similar plot. Me Before You is a film about a quadraplegic man-Will traynor, a successful, young rich man meeting with an accident and losing the ability to move again ends up, being terminally paralyzed. Lou Clark, who takes up this job of taking care of Will and serving and spending time with him. She is chatty, funny and shabbily dressed yet quite simple, sweet and adorable. They both find affection for each other but they cannot continue it. The climax is arguably practical where Will takes a decision about his life according to what he had told his parents. Can't say the ending was perfect, but there is one thing to learn-No matter how small or big, how ugly or beautiful, poor or rich-if you spend time with someone and feel for him/her and the other person reciprocates feeling the same, you certainly weave few things into each others heart. Spending time with the one you love is the best thing one can do! be it few months, few weeks, few days or few hours, those are the Moments!
The Intern (2015)
Its the Story of Ben- "The Intern"
I loved the film as Robert De Niro nailed it. Its the story of Ben, a 70-year old retired person who denies the concept of being retired, trying to explore the new world, joining as an intern in an E-Commerce Start Up. A man who easily charms others by the way he talks with all that experience and maturity he has in him is a delight to watch. He efficiently handles all the situations and is apt in his own old way. Jules on the other side, a classy, perfect, confident 21st Century girl who passionately runs the firm she started maintaining a work life balance. She is stuck between the decisions she has to make about her work and her family. There are few takeaways in the film. 1. To focus on the career and value the relations at the same time. 2. Be matured to handle every situation you face. 3. Explore life even after the time you are retired instead of waiting life to be withered.
I loved the mix of the cultures, the generation gap between the two and Robert-Anne chemistry. The movie ends with a positive note.
Up in the Air (2009)
Up in the Air!!! Classy Film!
Up in the Air!!! The movie is about a man whose job is to travel across the country 24/7 and fire people from their job. He does it with a classy professional style and knows how to talk and comfort people. His work-style clashes with young Natalie, who just joins the company after her grad and she has a different set of ideas in the business. They travel together and what is movie really talks is about the being lonely, relationships, lifestyles and the choices we make in life. We all, at some point of our lives, crave for a partner, a companion, a friend who sticks around during the thick and thins. Ryan Bingham too is not an exception and feels the same for a person he meets in one of his travels. Alex, she is pragmatic yet subtle and somewhat matches to his lifestyle. They carry on a casual relationship. On the other hand, Natalie is quite stereotypical and doesn't agree with Ryan on his thoughts of a relationship. There are interesting dialogues in the film. But the climax is a little melancholic. He has a dream of making ten million miles and meeting the pilot personally and when he reaches to that point, he loses the excitement. Much to his dismay, he finds out
Irudhi Suttru (2016)
Saala Khadus!!! A perfect title for the film
Saala Khadus!!! A perfect title for the film. The climax may be predictable but it will give you goose berms. Inspiring film for all the athletes, especially women. The story doesn't have any romance in any of the scenes, yet you feel that connection between the coach and his student. The film also highlights the corrupt system of the selection committee which is shown in other Hindi films as well and unfortunately it is probably the truth.
Adi, the coach is short tempered, arrogant and wild. He has his own techniques of training. Madhi, a similar person like that of Adi. She is raw, short-tempered, and hardcore. Although being the smallest in the family, she sells fish and supports the family.
The music supports the emotions in the scenes. Excellent songs.
The film inspired from many true stories and Indian girls, despite all the odds won the Women's World Boxing Champion in 2006. Respect!!! to all Indian women who work hard for their dream in their respective sports and represent India. Wearing that T-shirt(printed India on the back) really means a lot.
Sairat (2016)
Sairat - Another Marathi Film at its best!!!
To begin with, Sairat(Wild) is a highly acclaimed movie by people and is the highest grossing Marathi film till day. Yes, its a love story between Parshya and Archie, who are madly in love with each other and irrespective of the caste system in this country, want to take their relationship to another level. The movie depicts Innocence, Rawness, Love and Simplicity. The cricket scenes, political scenario in rural areas, the shyness to express feelings, their friendship and other shots is all very moving. Kudos to the team!! The direction, cinematography and the music is highly commendable. The camera work has been terrific throughout the film. For the records, its not only the highest grossing Marathi film but it also bagged many awards including Special Mention National Award for the leading actress of the film. Also, Sairat is the first Indian film to record its songs at Hollywood. The song 'zing zing zingat' made people dance at the cinema halls like PVR and Inox in India and abroad. We need more such movies, instead of those inconsequential Bollywood item numbers and other Bollywood films which has no value at all. Sairat, also has a social message in the film against social stratification in India which has been existing since the British era.
Katyar Kaljat Ghusali (2015)
Its a treat for Art Lovers...Speechless performances!!!
Its a masterpiece by Subodh Bhave on his debut. I really do not know much about classical music, but it doesn't matter when you hear something like this. There should be a standing ovation after every show for the singers, composers, who have succeeded in taking this film at some different level. Its been quite a while that we have watched a musical film like Katyar Kaljat Ghusali. The cast includes some prolific actors like Sachin Pilgaonkar. I have adored him for his performances while I was a kid in some films. Its a comeback for him. I am sure the audience will love him in this film. Throughout the film, you feel like Sachin and Subodh are actually singing. Lyrics, Story, Dialogues, Sound, Lighting is as good as the music. My favorite dialogue in the movie," Live Long. Keep Singing." and "Any artist lives for that moment, when the audience wants the artist(singer) to perform and they keep applauding for the sheer talent. Shankar Mahadevan, our beloved one has done really well as an actor, as its his debut too. I cannot eulogize him more as he has been impeccable in his music and his songs in the film. Noteworthy and Excellence by Rahul Deshpande, Shankar Mahadevan, Mahesh Kale and Arijit Singh, Divya Kumar, Shivam Mahadevan. The Music is soothing and Soul of KKG.
Angry Indian Goddesses (2015)
I am still in awe with this movie...Remarkable!!!
What a delightful film to watch! A must see film for all women because you'll find a connect.. It has been one of the best films screened in the MAMI festival 2015. It has beautiful distinct characters which makes the movie stand out among others. Joanna-the elegant one, Suranjana the angry one, Pam, Mad, and last but not the least Lakshmi. Adil although played a cameo, has done well again. Freida was the most splendid one :) Hats off to the performances guys!!! No doubt I am rating 10/10. Throughout the film, it never occurred to me that its a reel film. Loved the song and the music!!! It is super...Guys go for it. Worth Watching! looking forward for such films more Pan Nalin.Kudos AIG Team!!!
Desde Allá (2015)
Disappointing!!! Weak and Obscure Storyline.
The movie was released in India in the MAMI film festival. Much to my excitement, this was the first movie I watched. The story is about a middle aged man and teenager and their little conversation in the entire movie. There are unnecessary shots of intimacy as well. The movie is slow, dragged and is vague. The climax makes it even worse. There is no connection between the characters(like Elder's girlfriend or hookup friend whoever she was) and with no background score and indeed few dialogues makes the film boring to watch. The climax doesn't reveal anything. When the film is cryptic or obscure, the audience expects a decent finish where everything shown in the movie could be related.
Filmistaan (2012)
Filmistan!! An Adorable Film!!
A very nice Film!! Commendable performances by all the actors. The film has a message for all...specially for these two countries-India and Pakistan. I loved the dialogs. "You might win countries with the gun, not hearts, you need a pure heart to win hearts". There is a scene where Sunny imagines the world with no boundaries, with no discrimination, free people. What a thought! I wonder if that happens, we all will be ONE NATION. like 1 family. The film also highlights Bollywood and its many fans in Pakistan. In the entire film, one hopes for that moment where the hearts of the terrorists melt for their hostage, sparing his life.
Dr. Prakash Baba Amte - The Real Hero (2014)
A must watch!!! for each and everyone.
Do watch "Dr. Prakash Baba Amte, The Real Hero"... No, you don't need to understand Marathi Language. You only need to know the Human Language - which is universal and, anyway, not taught in text books. You will learn as you watch! Its a Stupendous film! There is really a lot to learn from the film and Dr.Prakash Baba Amte, who selflessly contributed to the betterment of the Adivasis in the jungle, living in forbidding conditions. Dr. Prakash Amte and his wife Dr. Mandakini Amte has been Magsasay Award Winners for their work, where they treated and cured thousands of Adivasis and tried to make them civilized and they could do so, without even understanding their native language. Very subtle performances by Nana Patekar and Sonali Kulkarni. Yes! I want to watch the film again.
Elizabeth Ekadashi (2014)
Splendid Film
The very First Thing about "Elizabeth Ekadashi" is that it doesn't make the viewers feel that its a reel movie. It is so subtle, that I could almost imagine the predicament faced by the kid and his mom.
The whole movie is about not letting their 'elizabeth' go away. Dhnyanesh and Zendu and their other friends love the cycle "Elizabeth" so much that they collaboratively try to save it till the end. A few takeaways from the film: Just for couple of grands, the Kids thrive themselves in... for the sake of love, affection, humanity! Superb Performance by the kids, the music too is really good! The characters have been impressive! I want to watch the film again!
The Fault in Our Stars (2014)
The Fault in our Stars---just Wondrous!!!
One of the Most beautiful Love Stories I have ever Seen. It touched my heart, I felt the trauma of cancer patients and what they must be going through. Life is so unfair! Its not the same for all. Hazel Grace Lancaster and Augustus Waters! What a performance guys! Even the eccentric character of the writer in the movie-Van Houten was amazingly played.
Its a movie which talks about loving someone, about relationship, about caring someone!!!
Brilliant Story, Awe-inspiring performances, Stupefying Dialogues, Heart-wrenching climax, but it defines life and death at the same time!!!
Soul touching indeed!!!
Cinderella Man (2005)
Exemplary!! One of the best movies ever made!
Fantastic Movie.... It got me tears at the end. Its a movie which ends with high emotions. Russell Crowe as always charms the viewers with his impeccable performance.
Renée Zellweger was amazing. The movie is all about the man with true grit, courage and the attitude of not giving up till you reach your spot. There are very few movies which actually makes a long lasting impact on the minds of the viewers. This movie is one of those!
Highly commendable performances and looking forward to watch this movie again and again when I feel low.
A Classy movie!!!
