The Batman (2022)
Not the Worst Batman
This wasn't the worst Batman movie. Not the best either. The plot was ok, but used alot of ideas from previous Batman movies, games, comics, etc. Riddler could have been used so much better and The Penguin was definitely the worst Penguin to date. Not surprised since they casted Colin Ferrel. Pattinson did better than I expected, but his Batman voice is absolutely terrible.
Pros: Batman kicks butt like he should. Wright does a great job as Gordon. Dano was a pretty good Riddler when he wasn't playing Saw.
Cons: Terrible Batman voice. Penguin was just bad. Anti-cimatic end with Riddler. I'm pretty sure I saw the villain using video to talk to everyone when I saw it the first time in The Dark Knight. Catwoman was wasted. She didn't even have to be in the movie. Nice surprise with Joker, but the laugh was cringe.
Overall definitely a step up from the God awful Affleck movies. Pattinson didn't take the worst Batman ever crown away from Affleck. Worth a watch for sure and an overall decent Batman movie.
Halo Infinite (2021)
Extremely Disappointing (spoilers)
I'm reviewing the campaign, not multiplayer. Multiplayer in games is lame anyway. Seems like Halo wanted to focus on multiplayer more than campaign like Call of Duty. Anyway...
The campaign was extremely disappointing. The story was horrible, everything major that happened happened offscreen beforehand. It's an open world (a small open world) sandbox. It's a Halo version of Far Cry/Infamous/GTA/etc. Very repetitive side objectives that get old fast. Lame AI, both marines and banished. A very boring and long winded generic villain. And no actual ending. No co-op, no mission repeats without starting the game all over. Both Weapon and Echo are boring or cringe. Many aspects from previous games not even in this one.
My biggest problem is the lack of everything. No story. No Arbiter. No Cortana. No Covenant. No Fred, Linda, and Kelly. No Fire Team Osirus. No Palmer. No Spartans. No Halsey. No flood. No Laskey. No Atriox. You get little tidbits from audio logs. Lame.
Pros:
-Graphics were great
-New fun weapons
-Once you unlock the Wasp traveling is easy
-Spartan cores was a nice idea, but they did it wrong
-good soundtrack
Cons:
-non-existent story
-AI lame, glichy, boring
-Weapon and Echo were annoying and cringy
-you're all alone (don't give me that "last hope" crap), very boring
-very repetitive missions and side objectives
-no actual ending
-vehicles suck unless you're on a completely flat surface
The game added absolutely nothing to the Halo universe or story. We got a Halo Far Cry and it was lame. Epic fail 343. Epic fail. We deserved a great game after years of waiting and you got lazy and gave us space Far Cry.
Dune (2021)
Hollywood names over talent, artsy fartsy over story
As a whole this movie wasn't that bad of an adaptation. I personally think the Sci-Fi mini-series is the best adaptation and much better than this one as well. This movie is filled with costume design and cgi scenes depicting long segments of ships landing and taking off. Seems the casting director was focused more on big Hollywood names rather than the actual talent needed to play these roles. Even though it was over the first half of the book there is still a ton missing. Multiple important pieces from the book are missing or have been slightly changed for the worse. Seemed like the director chose to have more artsy scenes than having scenes from from actual book that would have given more story. The graphics were amazing and the scenery was fantastic. Now I'll go over pros and cons:
Pros:
-Great scenery and cgi were pretty good
-Stellan did a great job as Harkonnen
-the fremen technology was nicely depicted
-the score was great
Cons:
-Ton of missed story. Perhaps if the spaceships landing and taken off were cut dramatically there would have been more time for actual story
-Multiple actors/actresses not suitable for the roles: Oscar Issac is a poor actor. Leto commands presence not being laughed at. Jason Momoa was not Duncan Idaho, did he even research the character? Zendaya is overrated and did a poor acting job on what little screen time she got. Who keeps giving Dave Bautista work? Fire them immediately. Timothee was ok, but I don't see him as Paul. Hopefully will do much better when he becomes Muad'Dib.
Overall worth a watch I guess. If you really want Dune, read the book. If you can't handle the book listen to the audiobook. If the book just isn't your thing go watch the mini-series from Sci-Fi. Much better than this movie.
Star Wars: The Bad Batch: Infested (2021)
Second Weakest of the animated shows (Possible Spoilers)
Bad Batch is probably the worst of the animated shows except for Resistance. I am current in this show and and it goes downhill after Ep 1. Ep 1 was the best episode so far and it wasn't much better than the rest. The three main things that ruin this show are: Omega, the plot, and the villains.
The idea of Omega doesn't bother me. What does is she is very annoying everytime she's in the show. They could have done something better with this character, but she ends up being a buffoon and babysat the whole time.
The plot is generic and boring. Omega gets into trouble, Bad Batch has to get her back, move to another planet and repeat. For 14 episodes so far. It's lame. They add in characters from Rebels and Clone Wars, but it just seems like they're doing this for views and it adds nothing to the plot.
The villains are weak and generic. A few gangsters and generic Star Wars villains and the main "villain" doesn't add or do anything for the show.
Overall pretty disappointed at this show after Rebels, Clone Wars, Mando, etc. Pretty weak entry and honestly shouldn't get a season 2. Filoni missed the target with this one.
The Last of Us: Part II (2020)
Played the Full Game while avoiding most spoilers. *SPOILERS*
I keep seeing great reviews of this game. "Masterpiece", "greatest ps4 game ever", "greatest game ever". This game is none of these in my opinion. One thing ruined this game: Abby. I disliked this new character from the first moment she came on screen. I didn't really even have a problem with the way she killed Joel. My problem was the game maker's forcing the players to not just play as this horrible character, but doing so for HOURS AND HOURS. It's like ND tried to force feed us into liking this character and having us sympathize with her. This character didn't deserve to be played. Didn't deserve to have half the game dedicated to her. Didn't deserve to force us to watch a pitiful "redemption". And the absolute last thing I wanted was to watch a sex scene with this person. They may as well made a GoT game and force us to play half of it as Joffrey. Abby completely ruined the game and its replay value.
Now, pros and cons:
Graphics: great graphics 9/10. Didn't get a full 10 due to the constant reusing of AI. You constantly see the same faces over and over.
Voice acting: great for the most part: 8/10. Yhe voice actors and actresses definitely don't deserve all the hate and death threats.
Gameplay: extremely repetitive 6/10. Explore, encounter, infected, explore, repeat. Alot. AI is dumb and the same faces are used over and over. Controls aren't the greatest. Stealth is great, can get through the game without being seen for the most part. Weapon mods and abilities are nice and not really overpowering.
Story: hated the story 3/10. The way they treated Ellie and Joel wasn't the best. Abby ruined everything. They should have made a "skip her unneeded 10 hour sidequests flashback" option. Abby doesn't die and I thought she much needed to.
Ellie: best part of the game 8/10. While slow at times her campaign was the best part of the game. I enjoyed her relationship with Dina (they ruined that too).
Abby: totally ruined the game 1/10. Didn't give a zero because of gameplay. It was nice punching the crap out of things. Her playthrough was unnecessary, unwanted, and I got through it as fast as I could while almost quitting. I didn't care about her, any of her friends, didn't sympathize with any of them. Her flashbacks were almost intolerable and boring and unstoppable. I even let Ellie kill me a couple times for some satisfaction.
Masterpiece? Absolutely not. Worth playing? Sure maybe once and definitely not at full price. It boggles my mind really how this game is getting such great reviews.
