A Word on Westerns (2014)
Western Stars Tell Their Best (and worst)
I'm biased, since I help film these shows. But as a child of Western fans I'm a kid again meeting these famous folk.
My childhood heroes and heroines come to talk about their memories and meet with fans.
Robert Forster, Ed Asner, Joan Collins, Walter Hill, L. Q. Jones, Stephanie Powers, Johnny Crawford and so many stars, directors, stunt people have come to share their stories.
Even John Wayne's son Patrick, the Lone Ranger's daughter, Dawn Moore has shared remembrances of their dads.
The programs contain clips from their notable films as well as behind the scenes secrets and what really happens filming Westerns where some of the actors tell the old lie about being able to horseback ride when they've never been on one.
Then we learn about real cowboys like Ben Johnson and Slim Pickens who not only made it as Hollywood Cowboys but became legends.
Never gets old!
The Lost World (1925)
2017 Blu-ray Edition is Must See
This version greatly improves upon the previous Image Entertainment DVD release. Not only is it a new HD film scan masterfully done by Lobster Films in Paris, but there are many special features, including a new stereo orchestral score by Robert Israel, deleted scenes, a couple of short films directed by special effects master Willis O'Brien, an image gallery and a booklet chronicling the restoration of this important film that made the classic King Kong possible.
Journey Through Rosebud (1972)
Great film never saw the light of day
This film was never released theatrically, due to a "Producers" like scam where the investors sold off 300% or more of the shares so it could never make a profit. The director Tom Gries was my instructor in film school and brought it to class one night.
It features a number of real Native American actors like Eddie Little Sky and Steve Shemayne (Little Big Man), but Victoria Racimo is Filipina, although very believable as an Indian in this and other films.
For its time it was a very good attempt at conveying the desolation and poverty of reservation life.
