Town on Trial (1957)
Who Cares? John Mills Un-finest!
John Mills was totally miscast as the hard boiled cop, and Charles Coburn's role was utterly unnecessary. Barbara Bates can't act her way out of a paper bag. The directing was awful with cop cars screeching into every scene for no reason, weird angles (zoom in on watch to show it's 6:15!) and the unbelievable crawl up the steeple was nothing short of silly. As a big John Mills fan, disappointing is an understatement.
Close to My Heart (1951)
Likeable Characters Absurd Plot
The length to which adoption agency, police and the newspaper man go with regard to the baby is beyond absurd - not believable. Takes it down a huge notch. Ridiculous.
Casanova Brown (1944)
Don't Bother
This was a waste of a wonderful cast. The movie is dumb, predictable and not believable in the least. Don't waste your time on this one. Teresa Wright's best performances are in Best Years of our Lives and Shadow of a Doubt. Run don't walk to either of these great movies!
