Dhamaka (2021)
#BollywoodStrikesBack
This movie is meant for people who have TV news addiction. It aims to call out the drama that we see on news everyday which is nice. It almost feels like bollywood wants to strike back for all the crazy witch hunt that "news anchors" have been doing lately against them. If it reaches the prime time news addicts and helps them realise what they consume everyday then all the very best to this film, but as a movie on it's own, it doesn't hold well. To begin with, the plot is just too dumb to be taken seriously. Maybe the movie is meant and wants to reach that specific audience and captivate them with dramatization that they're used to.

Fake reviews overhyped the series
The story is actually not bad but it's hard to take this series seriously with so many flaws. The acting and dialogues have got to be the worst part of the series. Ronit Roy and Manu Rishi Chaddha were probably the only actors pulling the series. The poor dialogue writing made their acting seem weak in so many instances. Richa Chaddha's acting felt bad because of bad writing too.
The show starts pretty cringey as you're introduced to these poorly written characters eg. A constable speaking in haryanwi tone in a series set in hill station (he later drops the haryanwi accent randomly), unnecessary cuss words from Vidhayak ji because it might look cool, school kids with poor dialogues which just looks unnatural because that's now how kids talk. One thing that I really found pretty stupid was that a kid called Mehul Awasthi being buried as per Christian rituals, like what the hell was that? Did no one from the show makers think it was pretty stupid?
Once you get through all the ridiculous bs that this show is filled with, it starts becoming interesting after 4-5 episodes. You have to ignore all the cringey dialogues and poor acting for you to somewhat like the show.
It's not the worst show there is, but with a cast like that, they could have done much better.

Probably a masterpiece of it's time
I think the movie must've been a masterpiece back when it was released. I was not born in that era and only got to watch this movie in 2021 after watching it's remake.
The remake was much better except for the ending which left me unsatisfied so I decided to watch the old one but it turned out to be a even bigger disappointment. Not to discredit the film entirely probably with limited technology it was indeed a masterpiece but it may not be the best choice for younger audience in this day and age.

Honest review
It's sad to see that people at large have been reduced to become trolls. They think they're being empowered by watching hateful propaganda on TV that they think is "news". They've lost the ability to think objectively, so it's best to ignore their reviews and their opinions in general.
The movie is definitely worth watching. The story is fantastic and keeps you engaged, performances by Jaideep Ahlawat, Raghuvir Yadav, Neena Gupta, Parineeti Chopra and yes, even Arjun Kapoor are great. The direction was as you would expect from Dibakar Banerjee, perfect.
It's no way a masterpiece but definitely not abysmal as the trolls would have you believe.
All in all, you wouldn't regret it.

Cringe Fest!
They had so many talented people on the show but the concept of the show is a complete failure.
The comedians just didn't have anything to work with so everyone just engages in sheer stupidity.
I'm not sure how none saw it coming given the poor concept of the show. This show should not have been made, I couldn't even complete the first episode.
Normal stand-up sets by these comedians would've been much better instead.

Incredible story ruined by poor writing and direction
The story of this movie is so incredibly unique, but the movie did not live up to its expectations.
It's full of cheesy cliche dialogues, poor performances and the worst direction. It became so unbearable that I watched the movie in fast forward but still didn't miss anything. Fast forwarding helped a bit but the movie was still boring.
Even a talented actor like Pankaj Tripathi couldn't save the film.

A balanced honest review (No Spoilers)
The series screams "low budget" from the moment it starts. In most series/movies I watch, their weak technical aspect is something that least bothers me. This was a first for me, especially because I watched it till the end.
The editing was probably the weakest part about the series. In many instances the scenes become unbearable to watch because they look way too tacky. Many important scenes are littered with unnecessary shots, repetitive shots and gives it a low budget feel.
It's a decent watch to pass time during lockdown but it's by no means "THE BEST SERIES EVER" as most people seem to claim. If you have enough time to spare, you can give it a shot but don't keep very high hopes.
It's a 6.5 at max.
Edit: Family Man is a much better series than this.

Could have been so much better.
These are indeed dark times for Bollywood. In a time when this industry is churning out so much crap and feeding it to the audience just for the fact people have become addicted to star names this film still acts a refreshment.
When you see so many talented names in a movie and almost feel "Kahaani" like aura, you're bound to get lured. Your expectations rise hoping this is going to be the handful decent Bollywood movies of the year. It sadly wasn't for me. The plot is certainly very interesting, most dialogues also feel natural but the huge number of loopholes in a suspense film like this is bound to ruin the realism factor that keeps you hooked. I just think there were some parts of the films that weren't needed because they stretch the loopholes even further and makes the scenes plain absurd, I refuse to believe no one saw them while filming it or at least during the editing of the film. Seems like they just wanted to finish the film and be done with it.
Only if they had made some effort to fix those plot errors or just removed them completely, it could have been much more better. Maybe even better than "Kahaani".

Worst Film Ever!
I regret wasting my time watching this awful movie. I took it from the good ratings and the reviews comparing this film to Goodfellas and The Godfather which is absolute blasphemy!
In fact this film is not worth watching at all. The plot, acting, direction, everything about this movie is garbage. The only thing I could say was watchable about this film is occasional gory action. Other than that this movie doesn't make any sense to me. Total waste of time.
If you still for some reason are planning to watch it, please refer to the "hated it" section of the reviews to get the accurate insights as to why not to do it. Please save yourself some time and watch Tarantino's movies for "bloody action".
