Getting Stale!
15 March 2020
The 1st season was something fresh, new, and a ton of fun to watch! The second season was fun, but not so fresh, and not as fun! You can see where I am headed with this as the third season has turned stale as it has a feeling of the movie Groundhog Day as it keeps going back to the same storylines and same situations. Can't the writers come up with some new twists, and some new direction? I have some ideas if they need some help. I would have given it a 10 for the first season, probably a 6 or 7 for the second, now with the third season going stale and pretty much headed in the same ole direction like a 3. That said overall I have it at a 6 as an average for all 3 seasons!

More soap than drama!
7 March 2020
Still love the series, but feel as though it has gotten more soapy, and doesn't have as much medical drama as it used to! The actors talents such as Matt Czuchry (loved him in The Good Wife) are wasted at times! With all that said it is still decent entertainment. Some of the previous episodes mysteries are left hanging and never gives us viewers any resolution! Wish we could get back to the quality of drama we had in the first couple of seasons.

Nostalgic view of Hollywood, little else!
12 January 2020
I can say I loved watching the old cars, and the nostalgic views of Hollywood, but kept looking for a story to pop up, which from where i was sitting never did. I have enjoyed Quentin Tarantino movies in the past with such fare as the masterpiece "Kill Bill" and other fare like "Deathproof", but they had some great story lines. Here the actors and actresses were good with what they were given, which in my opinion wasn't even a bone (even the dog had canned food in the movie and not a bone) lol. Unfortunately I bought the movie, don't make the same mistake, if you want to experience it then rent it. Just my opinion for what it's worth!

What a Delight, to say the least!
10 January 2020
What an incredible show, never in my life did I think I could ever get hooked on something like this! This is writing at it's finest, and the characters are something magical, like one of those old Sunday afternoon movies I used to watch many moons ago! This is something for young or old (young at heart) to take pleasure in. The scenery and settings are amazing, you can almost smell the green grass, the forests, and the simple pleasures of days gone by! What a Delight and an absolute Masterpiece this increbile series is, Kudo's to Netflix as they got this one totally right! Some of the reviews are right it does start out a little dark and sinister, but quickly turns into something light, and will put many smiles on your face. In time it will quickly warm your heart, and will put a smile in your heart on those dreary days.

Bad Decision for Charlie Plummer and Other Actors!
12 June 2019
I am a huge fan of everything Charlie Plummer stars in, finally found an exception! Mr. Plummer is one of those young actors that usually exudes quality films that I seek out to watch, from one of his first films in King Jack to one of his most recent in "Lean on Pete" in which he totally carries a film. Guess there is always an exception to the rule. I watched "The Dinner" mainly because of Plummer starring in it along with some othe quality actors like Richard Gere. This was literally a movie about a Dinner where parents are needing to talk about a dispicable act that their teenage sons took part in. The thing is everyone talks about everything else and little is said or accomplished on the subject at hand. A lot of filler, babble, and nonsense takes place instead, and one really wonders why anyone would want to tackle a script of this low caliber?? Is it their agent pushing this, or just for the money? I agree with all the other reviews this movie is a total waste of talent and time! Really disappointed in one of my favorite actors Charlie Plummer, come on young man your simply amazing I love you and your talent, you can certainly do better than this. Pick and choose your scripts a little better, and you have proven that you can do far better than this!! Also sad that Hollywood would promote garbage like this, some writer is laughing all the way the way to the bank!

Outshines it's predecessor!
9 April 2019
Loved the original movie, so thought I would check out the series! Was a real surprise and a rare deal when a series out does the movie. The series adds some twists and goes in a direction the movie didn't take. If you decide to take the plunge and start the series give it some time to develop, if you do I think you will be as pleasantly surprised as I was. Hang on to your seat as you prepare for a great thrill ride! Actually wasn't expecting much from the new players, but they rise to the occasion and do the new script proud! In my book a must see, I am loving it!!

Shame on FX!!
23 March 2019
So sad all the top rated shows with great storylines and top notch actors and actresses get the axe! I recently got majorily hooked on "The Americans", and to be quite honest I didn't think the shows premise would be something I would have liked. I was looking for a new series to watch and kept coming back to this one because of the critic's rave reviews and the high ratings here on IMDB. Once I started I never looked back as the quality all the way from top to bottom is top notch on this series. The story gets you hooked right from the beginning and found myself rooting for the characters even though they were Russian KGB spies. It is a period piece set in the Reagan era, so that added something since I was in my 20's and getting grounded in the 80's. The cars, music, tv shows, and the show itself just has that general feel. Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys play the parents Elizabeth and Phillip Jennings and they make an amazing team, along with their children Holly Taylor who plays the older daughter Paige Jennings (whom I might add is a phenom) and Keidrich Sellati who plays the younger sibling Henry Jennings who I might add does a bang up job, both are very well cast. I also like the neighbor Stan Beeman who is played by Noah Emmerich and just happens to be an FBI agent, which greatly adds to the story. One other cast member who I need to mention, is tough as nails Margo Martindale who plays their KGB handler Claudia whom I love in this series. I have seen her in other projects and she is like the cream that always rises to the top. I must warn you if you start you won't be able to stop watching, it's an FX project that is so well done, just one problem. I just recently was searching to see when season 7 is to come out only to find out this wonderful series was cancelled by FX! What a major disappointment, shame on you FX for doing so!!! Or maybe shame on us as viewers for not supporting such quality show. One could hope it gets to live again and picked up by Netflix or another network IT's beyond me how other networks can run total garbage like "The Simpsons" for over 20 years, but quality shows like this one get cancelled. It makes us as viewers stark raving mad!!!

Proper Way to tell a Story!
17 February 2019
I bought the movie when it came out on dvd, as I wanted to see it in the movie theatres! I read some of the previous reviews, and all I can say, some of todays action movies have completely spoiled us. So many that reviewed just couldn't wait for the story to unfold. Slow in the beginning perhaps, but too many of us get spoiled with today's types of movie. Which I admit too I enjoy, but what I really enjoy is a good movie like a good book, unfolding the way it should bit by bit. This movie gave us some really nice turns and twists, and yes it took some time to unfold and develop, but I like my mind to do some thinking along the way, just like a good puzzle it will all came together. Just like the day of the iphones and social media we don't want to have to think for ourselves. Call me old fashioned if you want, but just like shaking a present handed to me gift wrapped, I like to guess about the contents, instead of handed to me totally unwrapped-now that's no fun. This one will keep you guessing and wondering all the way to the end, and thats just the way I like it. Plenty of action if you can be patient, just like your Birthday and getting that present it takes a while to unwrap, but the surprise inside is worth the wait!!

Reminisce Your Coming of Age!
11 February 2019
This movie brought back memories of another movie I watched many moons ago. That movie was called "Lifeguard" and starred a young Sam Elliott. This movie was as enjoyable and as picturesque as that movie and gave me a nice feeling, reminiscing how I once as a teen found my way to fit in. Hard to find the words to describe that feeling we all felt as we were coming of age and turning that corner in life. This movie delivers the goods, great job pulling it off by actor Percy Hynes White!

Almost Perfect, BUT!
10 February 2019
One thing I can finally say, DC finally has it right with Wonder Woman and Aquaman now under their belts. The special effects were astonishing in this movie, the way they made you believe they were really under water and breathing! The scope of the movie was amazing and the story held your interest. I would have rated it a 10, but here comes the, BUT! The vilian and men in the submarine their acting and parts to me were flawed. For me this is where it became cheesy and none of it just didn't seem to fit. In fact I think just leaving the villian being the brother would have worked fine for the movie. The whole submarine bit in the beginnning and the making of the vilian because Aquaman left his Dad to die just didn't work or seem to fit for me. This is something that they could have done better with if they wanted it to work, it just seemed to be a side bar that doesn't fit in the scheme of things. If they had done it up better or just left this out, then for me it would have been an easy 10! Otherwise a great addition to the DC family and one I would recommend to go see if you haven't!

Pleasantly Surprised!!
5 February 2019
Mainly watched because of Asa Butterfield, the kid continues to amaze! Really nice trip for anyone who has or had a serious illness such as cancer. A realistic look on how to live and not let the illness cheat us out of living our life. What a nice journey that's believable and gives us some of the real emotions involved. All involved make this a solid flick, great ensemble!

Favorite Series!!
24 December 2018
Over the years I have been hooked on numerous series, but none like this one. It is totally addicting and innovative, and honestly my favorite of all time (pun intended). I agree with some of the reviews that SciFi and series bases on time travel can be a bit sluggish, well not this one! I really believe the characters and actors/actresses are the binder and glue that keeps this show going! Also some of the best writing that I have ever experienced on a show. So many twists and what always gets me are the cliffhangers at the end of every season, then you have to languish the whole season waiting for anwers. The characers are very well developed and I find myself really caring about them and what happens to them. I am like other fans of the series and after each season find myself praying and hoping for another season. So why not join us loyal fans and see what all the buzz is about. So we cand say welcome traveler ____ to the twenty first, watch the show just to find out that simple meaning.

Eerie Similar!
11 November 2018
Yes eerie similarities to Wonder Years, but so what I love it! Also great fun being thrown back into the seventies, with lots of great references! A family loaded with boys with all kinds of issue's and problems, plenty of fodder for future shows...I can't wait! If you haven't watched as of yet you should, finally ABC cracks the comedy genre with something decent. Hmmm wasn't The Wonder Years on ABC???

Best Action Movie of the Summer!
29 July 2018
For me this was the best action movie of the summer. I saw some of the other reviews and have to agree I don't know if I liked better the original or this one better. I think perhaps the sequel might have quite possibly have topped the original. I loved the plot, action, story, and most of all Denzel as I felt he was at this best!! I could see everyone else in the theater was like me on the edge of their seat, as it got tense at times, and you didn't know where it was headed. The movie was smart as it kept the viewers guessing. The movie didn't have any slow parts it was slick and fast paced, moving along like a well oiled machine-just likeDenzel was. If your looking for action and a movie that won't bore you, this is your gem for the summer!

Consequences!!
16 June 2018
All of us have suffered consequences in life for our actions, some good and some not so good!! This is a story of growing up and making a mistake then having to live with the repercussions! My Dad always used to say you reap what you sow, well this is a prime example of that. I won't give the story away as I will let it develop for you if you choose to watch it. Lately I have been watching movies with Tye Sheridan in, as I think he is a great young talent and upcoming actor. This movie at times was really tough to watch not because of bad acting or a totally bad storyline, but just because life can be tough on us all. At times the story made me cringe and even though I hadn't done anything of this magnitude, I still made some life choices that I wish I could go back and change, as we all have. I thought that Tye Sheridan and Kaitlyn Dever carried this movie. I would have rated it even higher, but thought something was lost by not exploring more of the parent's lives and how they handled tragedy in their own lives. Again seems like most of the movie was carried on the young actor's and actress's shoulders. Still overall I felt a decent movie and one that is worth watching!

Great actors/mediocre script=Average flick!
31 May 2018
For me I think the actors carried this film, and done the best with what they are given. I love Tye Sheridan and have been a fan ever since I saw him in the movie "Mud". I was at a resell store and saw John Travolta, Christoper Plummer, and Tye Sheridan were in this movie, so took a chance and bought it. There were a lot of holes/pieces missing in the script and it could have been better written overall.. One thing that bothered me was the son was sick, only once did he have issues with his ailment. Most of the time he looked and acted healthy and the movie could have developed this much better into the storyline.. Too there were lots of other holes, huge gaping holes in the plot. Still I won't pan it too much because overall on a slow day I somewhat enjoyed it and the actors in it. Also a bonus was one of the main characters in the film was from the TV series "Timeless" which i enjoy, she played the agent. It's sad sometimes movies could have been blockbusters if they were better developed or given more to go on. In this case it was the writing, too it is very similar to a movie I have seen before. See if you can figure out which one I am thinking of and see for yourself if you think it was retreaded!!

Unexpected-like that $10 bill you found!
30 April 2018
This movie was one of those nice surprises you find, something totally unexpected!! Even had John Goodman which I didn't know till I started watching and I love some of his roles, this was one of those.Too it is one of those movies that can be watched by one of any age, family, or by yourself. For me I was looking for something while recooperating from hip replacement surgery and took a chance. Sometimes these films can be some of the best! Really had some surprises and not where I thought the story was headed. Story of a sheltered kid who had lived out most of his life in poverty with his Dad in the wild (actually a cave) after his Mom's passing. Actually they were living in a forest cave and growing their own food, kind of like "Captain Fantastic" if you have seen that movie- somewhat similar, but different! Plot simple to follow, but a nice enjoyable ride, with Cint Howard (Ron Howards brother) playing the role of the hick sheriff. If your looking for a movie on a rainy day or a boring day this is one that can fill the void and brighten your day! A nice ray of sunshine, just what I needed while convalescing!

Surprisingly Good-refreshing reboot!!
16 April 2018
Ok I was a fan of the original growing up and I couldn't get enough of the original series!! Quite honestly I wasn't expecting much out of the Neflix series, although I really love some of the original series on the pay service. Well I watched the first two episodes last night and found it to be surprisingly good. I had to go to bed for work this morning, but quite honestly I think I might have binged most of the series had I started the night before. At first I didn't like some of the changes, but then I am thinking they were good changes and refreshing-really quite subtle. The effects are quite good and the storyline keeps you glued. Since they have changed some things it's not as predictable as you would think, and the whole scope so far has been amazing. I would recommend if you were a fan of the original your going to love this fresh approach as I did, and if your a newcomer your going to love this amazing sci-fi. Thanks Netflix for giving us something as a Baby Boomer we loved so much, now I get to relive some of my childhood with a new fresh slice!!

Best Dramedy Series ever-Go ahead Indulge yourself!!
14 April 2018
I had watched a few episodes of the UK version it was OK, then finally decided to give the US effort a try just because I have always liked William H. Macy in anything I have watched him in as the main character. To be honest I wasn't expecting much and didn't go into it expecting a lot, that's probably just the way to do it, as now I am totally hooked and can't quit watching this amazing American version. All the characters are well done with a lot of thought and each character is well acted, I can feel that they all enjoy doing the series and probably are close like a family off the set. Yes there is a lot of sex and a ton of foul language, but there is also a lot of real drama and things that is part of real life and families! I have found myself actually feeling for Fiona and her trouble of trying to raise the Gallagher family on the Chicago south side and finding love in between, also Lip's troubles with finding his direction and once he does his trials and tribulations in college, Ian's sense of finding himself as he is gay, and each of the other's who have their own issues like Carl and Debbie most of all which was brought on by their dysfunctional parents Frank and Monica Gallagher. For me the neighbors Kev and Veronica steal a lot of the episodes as they are flat out funny and have a ton of chemistry together! All in all it's been quite a ride and in my book flat out one of the best dramedy series ever developed. I have been careful not to finish too quick as I am now on season 7 now as I want to cherish every one of the zany episodes. Heck it's so good I might just find myself watching it all over again once I am finished. Take my advice don't miss the Gallagher bandwagon you will love them, if you haven't indulged, you really should!!!!

Going Nowhere Fast!!
27 March 2018
This is one of those movies that you think with the premise is really going ot be good!! Also one that they put the best moments and clips into the trailer to get you to watch it! Was wanting to watch this movie because of the trailer and so I bought it, only to be hugely disappointed. Again the premise is great, but is totally wasted, as the movie goes nowhere, and just ramble on! You keep waiting for a plot to develop and something big to happen, but sadly its all lost and never develops. I am surprised as Matt Damon used to be involved in some great movies and projects. Even he can't save this script!

80's with a Flair!!
13 March 2018
Stick with this one as it works, at first I wondered as the characters seemed kind of awkard or misplaced, it didn't take long to find out the story, characters, and setting all end up meshing well and bringing the fun of the 80's out of the past!! It's kind of like Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Caddyshack, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, and Risky Business all wrapped into one! Growing up and loving the 80's movies this is exactly what I needed in a series. The setting is at Red Oaks Country club so thus the feeling of Caddyshack only tennis is the big game here. Craig Roberts plays David Meyers the tennis guru at the Red Oaks club, kind of a poor man's Ferris Bueller, and the glue that keeps it all together, Ennis Emmer/Nash is the Bill Murray and it took me a few episodes, but I absolutely love his humor and what he brings to the table!! Finally there is Oliver Cooper who plays Wheeler-similar to a Spicoli of a Fast Times at Ridgemont High who loves to party and screams 80's into his character. The series has the language, the cars, the girls, and finally the style of the 80's. If you like me are looking for that 80's type of feel and miss those great movies, here it is all wrapped up into a neat little series. I am addicted now and I can't quit binging, again stick with it, and I am sure like me you will find it hitting on all cylinders with a great 80's flair. Kudo's to Amazon for opening up the 80's time capsule and I also might add very well done!

Seen Better, Seen Worse!
7 March 2018
All together it's not all that bad of a flick, predictable yes, but still fun to watch to see where its all headed. I thought the talent could have been given a much better script to work with. As most mentioned previously the premise is old and tired,,,,,,some new twists could have been added to make it more interesting! Most probably watched for the eye candy, but again a flick that can be enjoyable if you don't get too serious about it and just kick back and watch.

Predictable, but Fun!
3 February 2018
You know going in what it's all about and where it's headed. With that said it is just plain old fun on the big screen and at the movies. Thought all the cast put a nice spin on it, and seemed to run with the script. I really enjoyed the humor that was generated by the cast that was put together for this remake! The effects to go along with the story were pretty good and all in all I thought job well done. So many more remakes or retools of movies should be left on the cutting room floor. This is one when it comes out on DVD that I will purchase and have it on hand to pull out and watch again and again!

Captivating!!
27 January 2018
Reminiscient of one of my all time favorites "Dances with Wolves"!! The performances by Christian Bale, Rosamund Pike, and Wes Studi are way over the top! The cinematography is great, but not quite as good as it was with the previous mentioned "Dances wtih Wolves", but still some great scenes! The story is riveting and as myself had the whole audience glued to the screen, even at some of the quieter moments you could hear a pin drop. The stories dialouge at the fort was hard to follow at times, but once Captain Joseph Blocker had his orders to deliver his hated enemy home Chief Yellow Hawk the story quickened and never let you go on thier perilous journey. I found the relationships with the Captain's other fellow officers to be deep and well thought out, along with the deep seated history that they had experienced in the past with the so called hostiles. I can't give alway too much as I don't want to be a spoiler, but the story that unfolded following years of prejudice and hatred was one to remember as they all had to look deep into their souls! There are so many moments in the movie that will make you want to reflect on perhaps some of your own experiences. Kudo's to director Scott Cooper, the script, and actors for weaving this into a real gem. In the end I gave it a 9 instead of a 10 due to some slow dialouge in the beginning, and a few slow spots that could have been edited or left behind. Still a very captivating movie and not one to miss on the big screen!!

Quite a Ride!
20 January 2018
I am not always a huge fan of the British, not because some of them aren't good, just not my cup of tea! I wanted to see what all the buzz was about so took a chance on this Netflix addition. The characters a little awkward at first, but quickly change your perception towards them. Certainly not your warm and fuzzy type of characters, but again you quickly warm up to them. Alex Lawther as James hits a home run and his co-star Jessica Barden a triple. James is on a mission growing up a very strange young man he has an ambition to kill a human being. Alyssa shows him attention at school looking for someone different to hang out with, and thus starts the series premise. Its a great ride as the two embark on an adventure and meet up with some other quirky characters along the way! Quite a ride and well worth taking the journey on, most episodes are short and easy to binge. This was one series I was glad I went aboard and went along for the ride as disturbing as it was at times.
