Dexter: New Blood: Sins of the Father (2022)
Season 1, Episode 10

Ops they did it again
9 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Just when we thought the writers of Dexter where about to redeem themselves, they decided to revive all habits and blow it again right at the end.

Dexter deserved much better than what he got... there were so many plot holes during this season, but audiences and fans were even willing to ignore them for the sake of a greater good that never arrived.

Just by avoiding the dead of coach Logan, things would have end up differently... it's a shame that such a little decision has ended what could have become a great spinoff.

Special congrats to the writers, they've managed to ruin a long awaited second chance to redeem themselves.

A warm view of a family during hard times
29 June 2020
Troubled times for families have been always present, this movie explores them from a new perspective which comes particularly in sync as we are now struggling with one of the worst periods, if not THE Worst, on recorded human history... the coronavirus crisis.

A different but great family movie, totally recommended but do consider that due to its origins, Spain, it might be a little hard to enjoy for those who are not familiar with the Spanish ways and culture.

A feel good romantic comedy
7 August 2017
As humans we love to believe that there is a greater power that rules our lives... this is exactly the topic selected for this movie.

Serendipidity is a noun that describes the act of finding something good without looking for it, which is exactly what happened to Sarah and Johnatan: the accidentally meet each other and even if they both feel they are made for each other, they decide to leave it to fate if they get a happily ever after.

Even if the plot is somewhat unrealistic, it is definitely a feel good movie that ultimately reinforces your faith in destiny, life and love. Great movie to see with your current love interest, better for those who are on the brink of starting a relation, this movie might give them the push they need.

Not his best work, although enjoyable and heartwarming
5 August 2017
For those familiar with Mr. Derbez's work, this movie might not be placed among heir best performances. Even so, after watching it I can state that it seems that he has done it again.

After the tremendous success of "Instructions not included", Derbez needed another great performance in order to show that he was still on the path to becoming a household name in the US market, fortunately for him he did it.

Even if this movie is filled with hundreds of Latino cliché, I can assure you that you will have a good time while watching it. Besides it is always a pleasure to see Miss Salma Hayek on the big screen.

Definitely Worth Watching.

What goes around.... always comes around.
5 August 2017
Sooner or later, we all star questioning about what Karma really is or really means on our daily lives.... this movie takes it to a whole different level.

Like it or not, most of us played the bully role against others without realizing the consequences then... this movie depicts that scenery perfectly.

Well written, well played and specially well narrated... this is a good movie, that will make some think about what they did in the past and how they should face it.

My inner teen and my son, ask me to see it again...
30 July 2017
Thanks to modern streaming services, today I was able to fulfill a long desired wish... watch again my all time favorite movies.

I decided to start with "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure" mainly because the first time I saw it, I was about the same age as my boy is now, so what better "Father - Son" activity than seen a movie I hope he will come to love as much as I did back in the day.

Something that I have always loved about this movie was its simplicity yet imaginative story, even if for most, the story might be dumb I can guarantee you that you will end up having a good time.

For those who are wondering, my 12 year old son end up kind of linking the movie, of course he made jokes about the especial effects and about the impossibility of the story itself... but ultimately he end up having a good time, which meant we spent some quality afar her-son time together.

Dunkirk (2017)

An emotional trip back in time.
30 July 2017
Ever since I was a child, I always felt attracted to history and specially to World War II, which is why I was on he first line to see this movie once it opened on my local cinema.

After seen the movie, I have to tell that somehow Dunkirk felt different from all the other movies I have seen related to WWII. It might be the non linear narrative, or the fact that the movie depicts the struggle of more than 300k young soldiers trying to save their lives and by doing so becoming seating ducks to the German army.

Even if this event can not be consider a battle victory, because they were fleeing away from he front. It is one of the most inspiring moments of WWII for the English people, were they realized that the impossible can be done and from that moment on, things started to change at least on the psyche of the common people and specially the soldiers.

War movies based on real events, are always brutal and they usually leave you with harsh feelings and empathy thoughts about how it really was to be in the character shoes. A must see movie, Mr. Nolan did it again.

As forgettable as any half good TV movie
24 July 2017
Katherine Heigl have been one of my guilty pleasures ever since I saw her on "My Father the hero", hence she is basically the reason why I decided to give this movie a chance, after all she did performed well on other similar roles (home sweet hell) so hopes were high.

Unfortunately this movie fells down on so many clichés that just simply watching it gets painful. I am not the kind of spectator that keeps track of the movie mistakes but this movie makes it humanly impossible not to do so.

Summarizing, this movie is exactly the opposite....completely forgettable.

Come for Karla Souza... stay for the story
24 July 2017
This is definitely a light comedy worth recommending. I have to confess that the only reason I decided to watch this movie was because I saw Miss Souza headlining it, but being honest the dynamics, characters and narrative of the movie are quite good.

The movie itself gives a direct look at what America has become, exploring the reality of hundreds or even thousands of people that have a split life between the US and Mexico, and that have nothing to do with drugs, trafficking or organized crime.

Clara (Souza) gives a great performance and her character is quite lovable.

It takes more than vision to pursue a dream....
23 July 2017
When it comes to imagine the story behind one of the most familiar restaurants in the world, no one will dare to picture it as messy and difficult, but indeed it was. McDonald's in its early days had many harsh endeavors to overcome, most of them came from within.

As depicted on the film, the original founders of MCDs, Dick and Mac Macdonald had no solid vision and they were happy inside their comfort zone, on the other hand, Mr. Kroc was a business wolf willing to do whatever it takes to fulfill his vision and was not afraid to go out his comfort zone, and of course he did.

At the end, it all comes to one phrase... no one gets to the top without leaving others behind...

Intriguing at first, disappointing at the end...
22 July 2017
From the moment I saw the trailer, It caught my attention.... after the movie got released and having read the specialized reviews -mostly negative- my desire to see the film decreased. However, taking advantage of a Saturday afternoon and my wife's suggestion, we decided to give it a try anyways.

Absurd in many ways, with a screen language very much in line with what its Director Gore Verbinski has done before, for whom this film is also his first feature after the failure of "The Lone Ranger".

A story that would surely leave many bewildered and unable to understand it, which for some will be the perfect excuse to turn it into a cult film.

The performance of English actress Mia Goth is definitely outstanding on this film.

Groundhog Day for millennials with a twist
22 July 2017
Ever since I saw Groundhog Day when I was just a child, it became one of my favorite movies instantly. Even if there has been many well known and not so well known filmmakers that tried to use the same type of story and replicate their success, unfortunately not everyone succeed.

If you like school flicks or teenage movies and you just want to have a good time watching one, this is certainly a film to watch. Personally I will be using this film to teach my son about bullying and its consequences.
